Are You Ever Coming Home?...No! I am playing with Wizards, Farkles and Sparkling Friends completed 10/21/2017 - Page 22 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Ewwww, that milk looked disgusting in that dispenser! Other than that, the dessert party looked pretty good, although it kind of stinks that you have to get there early to get the best selection.
Good time in the MK with the rides, dessert party and so much more with the characters. Funny you mention bugs in the parks as it was never a problem for me on my recent trip, but may be the time of year. Never thought about this and never had any problem with this or any bugs as well as I can remember. Very view bugs if any as I recall.
Too bad with the hour wait for Splash MT. One hour is about my limit for any attraction no matter how good it is. So many other things you can do besides waiting. Not the Pandora rides nor 7DMT. They are great attractions (especially Pandora) but not worth the wait. Many better coasters in WDW than 7DMT, but still a good ride.
I have never noticed bugs before either, but I have heard this year many people have been complaining about them more than ever before.
I'm not sure what the difference is this year compared to others.

You are correct, these dessert parties are really meant for the early arrivers(sp?). I have tried one at DHS with the same problem. All of the favorites went very fast.
It was delicious! It's sad they don't restock like they used to back when the parties were MUCH cheaper.

That jamboree looked really neat - is that something new? They seem to have some unusual characters in it.
For me it was worth it because we got a good spot with no worries. I liked the desserts too. We did the cheapest one offered and the price wasn't too horrible. But I miss the days when this was only like a $15 add on.
I haven't seen that jamboree before so it may be. I loved that we got to see different characters too.

It looked so gross and we were making so many disgusting jokes about it.

yeah, I am not patient so usually 20-30 is my max. But most things we wanted to ride had lines that long and we just bit the bullet. In this technical age at least we had phones to entertain us now.
We had our fill and Jeanne actually filled a cup up with macaroons to take to the girls. We were led to our fireworks viewing area and sat down. We noticed then the grass is not real..it’s FAKE! I was shocked that it was not real. I guess real grass may be hard to keep alive with people here trampling around every night, plus in the day too when people often come to rest. It wasn’t really soft fake grass though either.
We sat and chatted and the girls sent us a shot of where they were sitting. I think they had a better view than us. LOL. Tonight was much less busy than the night we tried to watch them before the cruise, so they lucked out and found an excellent spot.
Now I had been told that people pretty much sit from these areas and watch. (in the old days it used to be done that way too). I was hoping that those standing in front of us would eventually sit down.
The sunset was so beautiful and we kept taking pictures of it.
I took video of some of the show with one hand and shot with my point and shoot with the other. Of course a few minutes in, my point and shoot battery died so I tried to change it one handed and I think I ended up handing my phone to Claire after I was having troubles changing it.
I will admit, I wasn’t a huge Wishes fan. I liked it, but it was just not something we made an effort to see. Most times we watched it from afar or while on the go. This show, for me, was a zillion times better than Wishes. It totally blew my mind how great it was. For us, this is a must do now…and we will consider the dessert parties for sure in the future. In the past, I really had no desire to go to one of those parties, but we really enjoyed it and the location for seating for the fireworks.
After the show, Claire and I were supposed to head to Peter Pan. I had made a fastpass for it while on Haunted Mansion. It was no longer showing up in the app…that’s weird. Oh well, we decided to just head off with Jeanne and Nick and met up with Emily and Kelsey.
As we whizzed around I looked at my email. I had one from Disney telling me that Peter Pan had been down and I could use that fastpass for anything. UGH. I wish I had looked earilier. I KNEW I made one for it! LOL.
As we came up near Space Mountain, we saw the lights were on!
Great time at the MK with the HEA show. Looks even better than Wishes with more aerials. Some nice rides and cool seeing SM all lit up as you don't get to see that often.

I’m so excited to see this show in a couple weeks! Looks like it’s pretty long, too?
We’ve gone thru SM with the lights on - so weird how it looks, isn’t it?
Great shots of Happily Ever After. I'm really looking forward to seeing this in January.
We've seen Space Mountain once many years ago with the lights on and it was just terrifying! I don't ride it anyway (bad experience when I was a kid), but that just reinforced for me why I don't ride it. Neat to see your photos - thanks for sharing those.
HEA looks amazing. I never really liked Wishes.
Space Mountain looks weird with the lights on. They were on last time I went on TTA.
The CM's were waving to us as we went through. I agree, though it is really dirty in there. I wish there would clean it up a little.

Happily Ever After looks so great! I can't wait to see it in December! I only have one night available to see it, so I hope nothing goes wrong. Maybe I should consider a dessert party, just so we have a guaranteed place to sit.

I loved the show and that is saying something as I don't often watch the fireworks over and over.

It's so good! It did seem long but probably like 15-20 minutes.
It was scary looking in there. So condensed

I just loved it. I thought they did a fabulous job with it.
SM can be scary in the dark, but I think it would be scarier in the daylight. LOL.

I have seen parts of it before lit up but never as clearly as I did that night. We totally laughed at how dirty it was.

I felt the party was worth it for us. I wanted to be sure to see it this time without arriving super early to find a random spot. I probably could have found one this time around, but after seeing how busy it was earlier in the trip, I wasn't going to chance it.
As we got close to the end, the girls yelled to us to ask if we could go around again so they could take video of Space Moutian. When we got there we didn’t even have to ask. The CM asked if we wanted to go around again!
That was fun! Sadly it was getting close to park closing time. I wish it had late hours tonight as we would have made use of them. We worked our way to the front.
We said our final goodbyes and went to our bus stops! Our trip is almost over. We were not homesick at all and could easily do another week, but unfortunately our wallets (and husband) didn’t agree with that.
We took the bus back to Music and headed back to the room. I played with the suitcases a bit to get them ready for to be checked in tomorrow. I kept moving things around to get the weight right but they seemed to be all under. Patty had told us the day before that her bags weighed over the 50lb limit when they checked theirs in with Southwest and she didn’t expect them to be. I wanted to be sure I had mine close but not over. And I was also trying to keep the carryons not overly heavy.
After playing with the cases I went to bed. Tomorrow we would be heading home.
Nice going with SM again and some great photos all lit up inside!
