Let The Memories Begin - Our Beach Club Adventures Feb 2011 - Page 22 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Your meal in France looked so yummy! Its on my wish list for next time. Not sure I can convince my family, but since I do the planning and ADR's I can sneak one in!
The bakery line looked nuts. Last visit, we entered the bakery at the end of illuminations. We had about 60 seconds to our selves to look at the displays before the crowds poured in!

We had walked all the way around WS and hadn't decided on where to eat lunch. We were standing in Mexico and I suggested either doing CS there or just head over to Sunshine Seasons.
We decided to give Mexico a try.
We got our food and went to find a seat. Peter sat down outside, but I was freezing. We didn't know that there was indoor seating until a CM came over and directed us inside. Thank goodness for being warm!!!
It was very pretty inside and I couldn't help snapping a few pictures as we ate.
Even the tile in the bathroom was pretty- which I took a picture of but it really didn't do it justice.
For lunch, Peter chose the Tacos de Carne - grilled beef tacos served on fresh handmade corn tortillas with Pico de Gallo, lime and corn tortilla chips and I got the Tacos de Pollo - marinated grilled chicken served on fresh handmade corn tortillas with Pico de Gallo, lime and corn tortilla chips. We both got sodas and Churros con Cajeta - Churros with caramel milk (yummy!!!) Total: $38.13 or 2 CS
The food was good, but I'm okay if we don't go back soon. Looking back though, I think some of my dining reviews were tainted by my being sick, so I guess I should give them another try someday.
After lunch, we decided to explore Mexico. We hadn't seen anything here before, so we went in.
I love these carved, painted animal figures. I'm sorry now that I didn't buy one.
We finally took the Grand Fiesta ride!
I really loved it! Peter refuses to ride IASW ever again, so this seemed to be as close as I'd ever get to watching it again.
We sat behind a young couple who seemed to think that GFR was the best place in WS to make out. LOL it got a bit ridiculous, and Peter and I found it so funny. Best laugh of the trip! We almost yelled "get a room" at one point. LOLOLOL
We stopped to listen to the band before heading to Norway.

Are you kidding me??? Umm...wow. I probably would have commented if I had bee there! LOL! Sorry you started out your day feeling lousy....

so we got in line. We hadn't ridden this since '08 and Peter swears it was different then. I don't really remember-have they changed this ride any since '08? We looked through the gift shop when we came out but didn't buy anything.
We didn't stop in China this time, so we'll put it back our list of countries to explore.
Once back in Germany, I was on a mission......a visit to the caramel shop!!
I got in the long line and waited my turn. I was standing behind the tallest guy you've ever seen, and he was blocking my view of the showcase. I tried to sqeeze in closer, but no....it was his turn and he wasn't letting anyone take a peek until he was finished. So then it was my turn, and I felt like one of those little kids that can't make up there mind, and a felt rushed. I think I made some great choices though!!! Take a look!
Caramel w/pecans
Chocolate/Caramel dipped strawberry
Caramel Corn
Now, since I was so rushed I didn't get the prices of anything
but I'm thinking $3.95 each as they were each considered SC. Great use of snack credits!!!!
I stopped in one of the shops in Japan to see where I could find Miyuki. The CM told me she wasn't here today.
We decided not to explore Japan today-hopefully we'd get to see her on Sunday-our last day.
By now, we were ready to head over to FW in hopes of riding Soarin. We took the boat back to Mexico. I wanted to get a picture of Morocco from the boat. I remembered reading in (Cam's ?) TR that ToT blended into the background of Morocco. It sure does-!
Although today there was a crane in the background as well.
Peter thinks I know so many facts about WDW.....but it's only because of you guys! I would never have seen that on my own...thanks for the tip!
The wait time for TT was too long, so we grabbed FPs for later.
I love the fountain!!
The wait time for Soarin' was 40 minutes but we decided to just get in line- it's always worth the wait. First we grabbed a soda from Season's and enjoyed our treats from the caramel shop as we waited in line. In just about 35 mins, we were taking our flight!!
No FPs.....a 50 minute wait, but guess what? We got back in line again! It turned out to be more like an hour, but worth it!
After our 2nd ride on Soarin', we decided to start making our way back to BC so that we could rest a bit before dinner.
We could have used our FPs for TT now, but kept going since we didn't have alot of time before we needed to be at OHana. We were walking through Canada when Logan called. We stopped to talk with him and we spotted a rack of sweatshirts in front of one of the shops. I couldn't believe we'd stumbled across a Calgary Flames sweatshirt!! Score!! The perfect gift for Nathan. I knew he would love it!! I forgot to mention that I had picked up Logan a t-shirt & shot glass (which he collects) from the gift shop at RnRC after I rode last night. I was now happy with the gifts I had to take home to the boys! I never gave looking through the gift shops in Canada a thought. Peter stopped at one of the stands in UK and got some coffee and drank on the walk back. I took more pictures while I waited for him.
We only had about 1/2 an hour until we needed to catch the monorail over to the Poly for dinner, but the rest was a big help!!

Good choices at the caramel chop! But I know what you mean about feeling rushed. I usually feel the same way at the bakery in France. There are so many people in line that you can't really see what's in the cases.
So glad you are getting your fill of Soarin'! What is that now, six times?
