A Walk in the Parks: A Cam and Fam TR COMPLETED 12/22/16 - Page 21 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I did take just a few more photos than I did on day five.
Part 1 – Day 6 Tuesday, October 4
The alarm actually woke us up today. Thank goodness! We were all ready and on the bus by 8:33 AM. Surprise, Surprise! We made a restroom break before even entering the park. June’s coffee was working overtime. At Epcot June found a short bag check line, but then got selected to go through the scanner where she set off an alarm because she charged through with her backpack. I was hollering put your bag in the bin along with the security guys. At least all she did was create some laughter. Next we entered some long lines to scan our bands.
Once inside the park we were a mission to get to Test Track before the standby line was too long. We had opted for a Frozen Ever After FastPass this day and our next Epcot day had a FastPass for Soarin’, which meant our best option was getting to Test Track early on this day. Luke and I had never seen the new queue since we have always used FastPasses for this ride on previous trips. So join us for a walk through the Test Track queue.
The competition was on with our three teams making cars. The teams were Luke and Morgan, John and John, and Cam and June. June and I designed our car solely for speed. With every step in the process we tweaked for speed regardless of the looks. We also chose our favorite lime green for the color. When our family looked over the finished product, we were teased mercilessly that our cool car looked like a frog. So June and I nicknamed it The Frog.
Cam and June's creation
Morgan and Luke
John and John Paul
Nobody was teasing us though when we won the power portion of the competition. I think the competition with our family teams really made this one of the best Test Track rides ever. Everyone loved it.
Afterwards, the boys and Morgan played on some of the games at the end of Test Track while June and I went to the restrooms again. We met back up with everyone else at the exit to the ride. From here, we made our way down to Spaceship Earth, and passed through the scanners two minutes before our FastPasses were to expire. Once again the camera did not get our photos. We all enjoyed the calm and cool ride through the history of human communications. Once we entered the game area of Spaceship Earth, I knew that the kids would be interested in the games. John Paul and Morgan noticed the shuffleboard game, and immediately headed there. They just had to wait for two other kids to finish their turn, and then they worked to bring power to the city. They were a little slow at the start but quickly figured out what they needed to do and how to work together. Of course, they also had three or four adults coaching them on what to do, too.
We wandered a bit until we came to the Inversion Game. There was a young lady playing when we all walked up who was so good she made it look easy. When her game was done, Morgan tried her hands at it. At one point she groaned that it hadn’t looked that hard when the young lady was playing, but she didn’t do too badly by the end.
John Paul found it hard as well, and after a few rounds, asked Morgan to take back over. She coached him so he could finish himself. It was a lot like the electronic game Simon, which I got Luke one year for Christmas.

I am the same way with restrooms! It's always the last thing I do before leaving the room and the first thing I do when we enter the park!
The games at the end of Test Track and Spaceship Earth are not something we usually stop for, but one of these days I'd like to do slow down a bit and find out what they are all about. Looks like your group had a fun time with them!
A great time in Epcot with TT and SE. Looks like the kids had a good time with the games!

It was a pretty strange looking green car.

The kids added an element to this trip that we just don't get when it is the two of us alone. Wish they could go with us more.

We don't stop for the games usually, but I remembered the kids had liked them back in 2013 when they were last with us. So I figured we'd be stopping. I enjoyed watching them play, but I don't think I'd want to play myself.
Yes, that does look like a frog! We did the design a car element for the first time this trip and we really enjoyed it. I can imagine it's a huge amount of fun for a big group to be able to compete like that.
What a great start to your day. TT would have been so good with the family competition. I think that SE has closed down its picture taking for the videos. The pictures have been so bad (with holes in the heads) for the past few years. I noticed when I went last month that there were no pictures in the video and the area where you could watch your video and send it by email seemed to be closed down.

The competition really did make for an exciting ride as each team had to holler when their car one. And the fun part was that everyone's car won one round.

That is so sad about SE. I did really like seeing myself on the future body of me.
