What a Wonderful World!!! PTR updated 11/26/2014 - Page 21 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

well congratulations - I guess-I assume you are happy about the new job but not the physical act of moving. That can be a complete pain. So we are losing a Jersey girl .
So after my “wild ride” on the Aqua Dunk we were done with the pool for the time and decided to go hit up the Open House in the kids club for stroytime with Belle. This was so cute and she was a lovely Belle reading to the kids and so animated. We had a good time here and then went back to the room to shower up and relax a bit before dinner.
We took the kids up to the pool deck to get some grub for dinner because tonight would be our first night “out” at a Palo. I was very much looking forward to this. So after the kids were fed, Arnaud went to drop them off in the club while I went back to the room to get pretty for my date. Arnaud came back to get changed and we had a glass of wine on the balcony before we headed off to Palo. We have never been here so we were both excited. From the moment we walked in I was very happy to be spending the next hour or so in here. I never take notes of our food, but I can tell you everything was lovely. I wouldn’t say anything was bad; food and service were all very good. Nothing blew me away though. It was a very nice and relaxed meal with my hubs and that’s all anyone could want.
We sat at a small 2 top table and of course the people next to you can be a little close, so of course I was eyeing up this beautiful necklace the lady had on sitting next to me. I was of course making jokes to Arnaud how nice my outfit would have been if we didn’t forget my entire bag of jewelry……but moving on. She happened to look over at me while I was gawking and I just had to tell her how stunning her necklace was. She laughed and said thanks and we chatted for a quick minute. Then her husband asked if I could take their pic and he would do the same for us. So of course we did the pic swap. Then we just started a full on conversation. Tom and Barb from Colorado our new friends were. We chatted about wine first; they told us they bought a 12 night package of wine?!?!?!?! Uhmmmm, what?? We only bought a 7 night, never even knew there was a 12 night. Arnaud and I can and will gladly polish off one bottle of wine during dinner, so this was something we needed to talk to Limbert and Marianne about next time we see them. As we were getting ready to pay our bill and leave we all realized we were both having brunch at Palo on Sat, at the same time. Barb asked if we would like to join them and see if we could sit together. Well, of course!!! We quickly chatted with our server and he said he would gladly change that in the system and also be our server for brunch too. FABULOUS!! We traded cabin numbers and said maybe we can catch up for a drink in Keys one night too. It was all just perfect. More to come with Barb and Tom in later updates. They were a really sweet couple and I was glad to have met them. We had been gone from the kids now for about 2 hours so I was eager to pick them up and see how their night was going. We always seemed to find Andre right away; the kid was always in Andy’s room on the slinky slide. Josie was always a bit more difficult to find, but usually in Pixie Hollow creating a new fairy on the computer. We took them up to the pool deck for the free flowing self-serve ice cream for a little treat, then back to the room to get ready for bed. All resting nicely in the room we were soon off to sleep because oh yes…..another set clocks forward night this would be.
Just wanted to also say a quick thank you to all the well wishes on our relocation to Texas. Arnaud has started his new position and is loving it...........I however am not loving his constant travel back and forth. The housing market in our area is the pits right now. Selling our home has not been fun, or easy. We live in a great neighborhood just outside AC. In this year 4 of our casinos have closed with one more closing in just a few weeks. I have no idea what has happened to our beloved historic town, but it's not pretty. I am happy to be able to at least spend the holidays here one last time and take advantage of all the wonderful things that happen in our nearby cities during this time!! One last spin around Philly and NYC can never be a bad thing. A buyer for our home will be just around the new year and then we can finally move on to what life has in store for us in Dallas!!!
Very glad that Arnaud is happy with his new position and I hope you will be happy with the move once you get settled. Good luck with selling the house. Happy Thanksgiving to you, Arnaud, Josie and Andre!
What a great evening at Palo, and always nice to make new friends. Glad the kids had a fun time at the kids club. Love the pic of them enjoying their ice cream.
So sorry that the house selling has not been easy hoping the New Year starts off well and for your new relocation to Dallas
I'm glad to hear things are going well with the new move and I hope you'll soon all be settled together in Dallas.
Isn't it wonderful when you meet people and just hit it off with them? We've made so many great friends on our cruises - we met Mari and Raleigh, who we did our Eastern Med cruise and our Italy road trip with in the summer on the inaugural Med cruise back in 2007 and we've remained firm friends with them ever since.
What a lovely evening! And I'm not surprised that you 2 made friends with strangers. : Sounded like those 2 munchkins had a blast as well - slides & fairies followed by ice cream - perfection!
for a buyer!! Because that will mean you are within driving distance to meet!!

How fun to meet some nice people on the cruise and hit it off with them!
Glad Arnaud is enjoying his new job. Glad you are getting to enjoy one last holiday season in your neck of the woods before relocating. I hope you like Dallas! I really hope to get to meet you one day as I will only be 3 hours north of you once you get moved!
Fell a little bit behind here as we just sold our house and moved - 3 week ago. Not at all a fun process! Especially with the kids around. Good luck to you with that. I've been to Texas a few times and had a good time. I'm sure you'll make a nice life there.
Sounds like your dinner at Palo was a good time. Always nice when you can make new friends! Can't wait to hear about the rest of the cruise and how everything goes with the move. I will say selling a house and keeping it clean is so stressful, but once you have a purchase agreement signed it's so much easier. Yes you have to pack, but the pressure to sell is gone and it doesn't matter if the kids scatter their toys all over the house. Good luck!
