The "Okay-Let's-Get-This-Thing-Done-Before-The-Next-Trip-Starts-TR" - Page 21 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Great time at Epcot! See the F&WF in the background makes me so excited that we are going back in October. I think I'm going to have to get some of the Pumpkin Spice funnel cake, especially since I just learned that we get a DVC discount there. So much fun with the Beverly!
Do you know that I have yet to see the parade at AK? Yup, there's a Disney confession for you. I will have to rectify this the next time we go since it looks like something I would highly enjoy. And I think I'm in love with your Jason, even though I haven't met him yet. He seems like such a sweet little man, who I know will continue to grow up with such a big heart.
I the boys choices for hats in that one picture. Who says a man can't wear Minnie ears? Put them in a pink shirt, and it gets even better. Ha!
And this has to be my favorite picture so far. One eye closed, and the hand up by the mouth because of the gag factor going on for good measure...classic.

There's always room for pumpkin spice funnel cake! I'm sorry we won't be there for F&WF this year to have it again.

It's cute when Jason says the wrong word. I guess sooner or later I'll have to start correcting him...but it's too cute now.

Love the Beverly reactions . . . I actually love Beverly. Dinner time already? Feels like you just finished lunch!
Craig didn't think it was that bad, didn't love it, but didn't hate it either.

Oh, please have the pumpkin spice funnel cake for me! I'm sad we're missing the F&WF this year after going since 2008.

You know my boys...okay some of them...okay one of them has no problem with the pink and the Minnie ears. And you have to see the AK parade. I think you and Hope would really like it. We usually watch it from the shady path coming out of Asia toward Africa. The "puppets" are amazing and the music is good too. It's no Spectro but it is good!

The Tuna Noodle was good. It had a bit of an after kick to it but not too spicy because I don't like spicy food.

Too cute! Jason and 3 other boys and 4 girls did a medley of Grease songs for their 2nd-3rd grade talent show this year. They closed the show and were great...if I do say so myself.
Okay, this post might possibly be the shortest one I’ve ever done. Seems I didn’t take a lot of pictures this evening and I was dealing with some tired boys. This was our big “nice” night out and I was very excited when I sat down 180 days prior to our vacation at the computer and snagged a 7:20pm ADR for CG with an 8:00 start time for Wishes. I had never seen Wishes from the CG. Craig and I did try once when he surprised me with a trip to Disney for our 5th anniversary. We stayed at the Poly, got all dressed up and hopped on the monorail to go to the CR for our CG dinner. When we got to the MK, the monorail stopped of course, but it sat and sat and sat. Finally I asked the CM when were we going to move and he said that they would sit there and wait for Wishes to be over because the crowds would empty out and they needed to be there ready for them. I told him of our reservations and he said there’s a path and you’re going to have to walk if you want to make it. Well we hoofed it as quickly as we could…in heels mind you (me not Craig)…and arrived sweating and late and missed Wishes. That reservation was closer to Wishes starting and we weren’t taking any chances this time around. We got dressed and headed out early so we could definitely get there on time.
Craig and I heading to CG for Wishes…take two…
We decided we still wanted the fun of taking the monorail and we love the long trip from Epcot to the TTC so we walked through the park to catch the monorail at the front.
We arrived in plenty of time at the CR so we walked around the gift shops and then went upstairs and checked out the observation deck before our dinner. We got a table next to the kitchen. If we couldn’t have a table by the window, this was a good second choice. It was fun for the boys to watch all the food being made and finished in the window.
I started with sushi and then had the pork tenderloin, Craig had the swordfish, Zach the filet, Tyler the salmon and they had a whole wheat pizza with provolone cheese that Jason had.
We went out onto the observation deck after appetizers and before dinner to watch the fireworks. It was quite windy and chilly there so we stood near the lights around the railings to keep warm. It’s an interesting perspective when you see how far away the fireworks are set off from the castle because they look so much closer when you’re in the park watching.
Then we went back inside for our dinner. Tyler barely made it through the meal before he fell asleep on the table.
He turned out being the most tired of everyone on most days of the trip. Normally I can’t get him to stop moving. Jason on the other hand, was wide awake!
Our plan was for dinner and then to take the monorail back to the MK for evening EMH but being as everyone except Jason and I were tired, we decided to head back to the resort and get to bed. We took the monorail to the MK and then walked to the buses for the BC. It was hard not to turn into the park, but I did it. When we got near the buses, I was about 10 feet behind Jason and he got on the bus and told the bus driver “don’t go yet, Mommy’s coming.” Always looking out for me. Tyler dozed on the bus and soon we were back at the resort. A stop for a coffee to relax in the room with and the boys all hit the hay.
Sorry so short, but the next couple of updates will be better. Finally the Amazing Race starts!
Up Next: The Race Begins!
