Free Disneyland Paris tickets? On y va! COMPLETED - Page 21 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Saturday 6 October – part thirteen: “Mark burpy-face from En-ger-land”
There was a fun photo op with Rex, who even talked, which I thought was neat.
Then you got to this bit, which was really bizarre. As you can see, it’s spelling out “goodbye”, but then there was nowhere to go, as the only thing ahead of it was a shop, and then it was obvious that work was going on behind closed doors.
We’d seen cranes, and thought they were somewhere on Disney property, but hadn’t known where. Well, now we did.... Mark went to get some photos of the construction going on on the other side of the doors...
Before anyone says anything, it’s massively over-exposed, but Mark’s camera couldn’t cope with the difference in light from one side of the gates to the other.
When I got home, I did some research online about what’s happening here, and wow, it sounds amazing! The plans are for a dark ride, with the working title of Ratatouille Kitchen Calamity, along with a restaurant. It’s due to open in 2014, and I can pretty much say that we’ll be back then to see what it’s like.
As we were at a dead end, we headed back through Toy Story Playland. Hopefully, when the work is completed, it will feel more like part of the park, rather than the add-on that it seems to be at the moment.
By now, the rain was coming down steadily, although it was still quite warm. We made our way towards the Tower of Terror...
We had a quick look to see when the next Stitch Live! show would be, and as we had 17 minutes, we headed into the shop at the Tower of Terror, as the parks guide had said this was the place to head to for Halloween merchandise. Well, all I can say is what a disappointment. Sure, there was some, but to be honest, there wasn’t much that we hadn’t already seen in other shops, and it wasn’t a particularly big selection either.
On the way out, we made a restroom stop, and I’ll say this now. The restrooms at Disneyland Paris were not particularly pleasant, and sadly it’s always been that made. There’s always that lovely aroma near restrooms that seems to be unique to France (thank goodness! ) and the amount of toilets I saw that weren’t flushed was just unbelievable. In this, in one of the cubicles, it looked as if someone had had a fight with a toilet roll, and the toilet roll had obviously come off worse, as it was strewn everywhere. I must admit I did wonder how often the restrooms were cleaned here. However often it is, it’s not enough.
Ok, another rant over for today... I do feel better for that!
We made our way over to Stitch Live!, which was now showing a seven minute wait, although in truth, they let you into the pre-show area five minutes before show time, where you can at least sit down, and our legs needed the break!
Soon we were inside for this show, which is essentially like Turtle Talk with Crush, except obviously it’s with Stitch, who’s managed to steal Gantu’s spacecraft. It’s a really fun storyline, with lots of interaction, first with children, but sometimes with adults. The last time we saw it, it was a very small group of English speakers (this show rotates between English and French, with I think some Spanish shows also thrown in) and I was chosen to be Stitch’s girlfriend, which I loved!
Today, Mark got all the attention.... It started as there was a belch in the middle of the programme, and Stitch looks around to see who’s responsible. He directed the Cast Member to the back row, where we were sitting, and I’m not sure that Stitch was going for Mark, but that’s who the Cast Member ended up with, so Mark became “Mark burpy-face from En-ger-land”.... I love the way Stitch pronounced England, very funny!
Of course, Mark being Mark, he had to answer Stitch back, but of course, Stitch had an answer for everything! Mark did an impression of Stitch, and Stitch just came straight back with “ooh my name’s Mark and I think it’s big to do impressions” or words to that effect. It was a very funny section.
Then Stitch realises that he knows Mark from somewhere, but can’t think where. Eventually, it comes back to him – it’s crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy Mark – and seriously there were that many crazies in the original recital from Stitch, with an almighty pause for breath in the middle of them! By this time, I was practically falling about laughing on the floor. It was the funniest thing I’d seen in a long time, and once again, this show had truly delivered.
They also have this in Hong Kong Disneyland, and I’d really love to see it come to Walt Disney World or Disneyland, probably the latter, as Walt Disney World already has Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor, and a Stitch attraction in close proximity to each other. In my eyes, this is much better, and much more kid friendly than Stitch’s Great Escape.
Wow, what an awesome expansion plan to the Studios. Sounds like a hysterical interaction with Stitch! I happen to really enjoy those interactive type attractions and would definitely welcome it over Stitch's Great Escape ( or as we say....Stitch's Great Mistake).

Yay, I got here before it's over! I have to tell you I'm in LOVE with the castle over there. This has definitely become a Must-Do for us... I'm thinking 2014 is our Paris / DLP year... but YIKES on those hotel costs!
I'm so enjoying reading about this trip, and I can't wait to read more! I love the theming in the Moroccan restaurant... and I agree, Marrakesh should probably be a buffet.
Well maybe you don't have the word over there - but we certainly have it here and it's been pointed out by others that it sounds the same when you say it.... arsy. It's a word in common use here and it means disgruntled, although it's probably a lot stronger than that. Generally if you describe someone in those terms, it's not a compliment.... Not a good word to be associated with a Disney ride...
Yup, that is definitely a Britishism! And very descriptive... Certainly a very funny word to be associated with a Disney ride.
I learned something new today.

The Stitch show sounds hilarious! How fun that you were part of the show last time and Mark this time. The bathroom situation sounds disgusting. So strange that they can put so much effort into making the park beautiful and then leave those areas neglected. NOT magical.
Can't believe I missed this TR (since I read in another of yours you were going to DLP). But, there is an advantage to getting to read a large chunk at one time.
My favorite so far are your photos of the show in front of the castle. You did a great job getting such nice photos. But I am enjoying everything, you do such a nice job explaining the layout of the park and what is in each area.

Did I mention how much I adore that castle?
The castle is definitely one of Disneyland Paris' plus points. 2014 sounds good with the expansion of the Studios hopefully done by then - maybe we can meet up, as we did talk about going back once that was open?

I can't wait for the Ratatouille dark ride!!! There've been rumors about it for years (I first read about it in 2008!), and when construction started at the beginning of this year, people were VERY excited It's supposedly going to be trackless and GPS based like Pooh's Hunny Hunt in Tokyo Disneyland.
Yes, Stitch Live is awesome! It's definitely on my to-do list
