As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears

Moving on with the current of the years.

Moving on with a spirit born to run

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Just catching up so it was great to enjoy so many wonderful updates, I just love your TRs, every trip is just so amazing, such great chracter interaction...but WOW what a Valentine's Day, how truly magical, how very special but you are both very deserving...you make their day as much as they make yours.

I understand all to well!! Sleeping Beauty is my favorite Disney movie, so needless to say meeting Prince Philip was high on my list. I was standing in line to meet Minnie, and the little girl behind me was talking about how she just met Prince Philip, I never moved out of a line so fast in my life. I'm pretty sure I pushed people out of the way!
I have to say, that I think today was the best day of your whole vacation!!! Truly, truly a magical day!!

Wednesday February 15 - Breakfast at the Castle, and departure day.
We packed up our bags and loaded up the rental car because this was to be our last hurrah for this trip. Liz and I were both still walking on a cloud and taking about what all happened yesterday. From, meeting the Princes at Epcot, to the wonderful Valentine’s gifts the stepsisters got us, the Princesses reaction to my lipstick stained face (especially Cinderella’s!), Tink’s sassy insistence to spend more time with Liz in spite of the well meaning cast members attempts to keep the line moving, Mickey and Minnie laughing at me with my smooch marked face, and finally Cinderella dancing for us. It had to be the best Valentine’s day ever!
We are having breakfast in the castle this morning, then take in the Magic Kingdom until about lunch time then back to the resort for lunch, swim and soak up the last bit of warm sunshine we can before heading home to Michigan in February. (shudder!!!)
We vacated our room, dumped our luggage in the rental car then hopped a bus to the Magic Kingdom. I chose my light blue shirt with the Princesses from last August. Had to look as Cinderella blue as possible for our last day, didn’t I?
We were right on schedule and were seated right after meeting Cinderella. Unfortunately all I have is the one they gave us, I didn’t have them snap one with our camera. When we were seated we saw Snow White first:
Then a very beautiful and friendly Aurora who just knew she remembered us from our past adventures:
Then Belle who welcomed us back warmly:
Probably the most spirited Princess we met at this meal was none other than Ariel. We took a picture:
And then she grabbed my photo book and looked intently at all the pictures, oddly enough especially of me and Cinderella. Ok, OK I know I know there are a lot of those in there, but she saw one of me kneeling and kissing Cinderella’s white gloved hand. Then she showed it to me and said “I want to do this one, can we do this one?” Her smile was so big and warm I couldn’t say no, so without hesitation I replied yes, bowed to her and did this:
I guess the expression on her face says it all, doesn’t it? She thanked Liz for sharing her Prince for a few moments and gave Liz a warm hug:
We finished our meal, the French Toast pastry they have here is fantastic. Many people complain about the food here, but it was very good. We said goodbye to the castle then headed to adventure land to see if Tink was ready to meet us yet. Of course she was and we came in to say our goodbyes. Terrence was with her again:
Liz started the Purse vs. Satchel thing again and Terrence replied without question we both had Satchels, although he did say he had never seen any other Tinkers carrying around a light blue one before. Thanks Terrence . . . Sighhhhh. We showed off our Satchels anyway:
Tink was incredibly excited to see Liz!
She was very impressed with her wand and shirt:

I finally was able to muscle my way in with them to get a picture.
Liz then told her we were heading home today and Tink asked if we were flying. Liz said we were then she hugged liz again and said that was how she could make some Pixie dust rub off on her for the flight home. I’m thinking that sounds pretty good so I say “Hey Tink! I’m flying too!” and flash her my best smile and I’m thinking she’s gonna give me a Pixie dusting hug too. Then she does this:
Sighhh, Well I guess that’s another way to rub some Pixie dust off on me. Not quite what I had in mind but I guess it’ll work. Typically Tinker Bell, I guess! After this we took in some attractions, Haunted Mansion, Small World, and just wandered around enjoying being in the park. I noticed the place we watched the Super Bowl parade a week earlier was repaved:
Hmmm wonder what happened? Then it occurred to us NOONE was in front of the castle. How often does that happen in the middle of the day? Had to get a picture:
I used a snack credit to get a Dole whip then it was time to make our way back to the front of the park to say goodbye to Mickey Minnie and the Princesses, but who did we see?
Mary Poppins! We told her we were flying home today and she asked us what kind of umbrella were we going to use. Priceless! The Cast Member with her asked us where we are from. When we replied Michigan, she looked at us, smiled and said “That’s a good place to be from.” That just says it all! That is our goal: To have Michigan be where are FROM!.
Mickey and Minnie gave us a heartfelt goodbye:
Then it was on to see the Princesses for the last time. A very somber moment, parting is such sweet sorrow. We had them all sign the picture all the Princesses took with us last August which is the same one that’s on my shirt. Cinderella was first, and was genuinely sorry to see us go:
Then Belle. She even seemed sorrow to see me go
Aurora had that look that said “Next time I’m going to win him over to my side”. I just love the way the Princesses treat us!
Now we hopped a bus back to the resort, went swimming, and baked in the sun for awhile. Then it was time for a good lunch at the food court, then we headed to the airport, turned our car back in and proceeded through the airport. Sighhhh, why does this airport look so much better when you’re flying in??? The flight was pretty uneventful, and we were back in Detroit pretty much on schedule. It was the middle of Winter there though. Booo!
One final thing happened: We stopped at an Applebees just outside Ann Arbor for a late dinner and our waittress said “Wow you guys look like you’re freezing!” (It was actually quite warm for this time of year here. it was in the low 40’s. “Did you just get back from Florida or something?” She asks smiling. “As a matter of fact, yes we did!” I replied. Waitress thought that was pretty funny.
Well that brings us to a close, my friends! Fear not though, it’s not goodbye, it’s ‘See ya real soon!’. Liz and I are going back in August. August 18 - 26, i believe. Stay tuned for a PTR in the coming months. I may post an update in a few days and show you all some Photopass pictures that we missed earlier because our photopass CD didn’t come in until the last half of this Trip report.
We hope you all enjoyed reading about our adventures, we certainly enjoyed having you all along for the ride. As I said earlier, I can’t really tell my friends and co workers about most of the fun we have because they just wouldn’t understand. Why would you get so excited to dance with Cinderella? Why were you running to see the Princes? Why does Liz go back and see Tink over and over and over? Why is a grown man carrying that pur . . . errr Satchel around? And above all, I just don’t want to hear “What???!! You’re going back there again???!!!!”

WOW!! You guys had an amazing Valentine's Day! We had those same two step-sisters when we went to 1900 PF and they were perfect! Thanks so much for sharing your trip with us. Can't wait to read all about your next adventure!
