We're going to WDW! Adventures of a Mom & Toddler Trip, PTR - Page 21 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Thank you Cam & Melissa. I was having a wonderful Mother's Day until those 2 ladies. It felt up there with my 1st Mother's Day where Erick, Skyler, & I werent allowed into a reetqurant for lunch because we hd Skyler with us (and their sign saying no children under 10 not allowed was hidden by their doors being wide open and it wasnt visable).
It was a good Mother's day, however I was more focused on making sure DMil had a good Mother's Day since she and Erick were working yesterday until 9:30 pm, and he couldnt do much for her, so I took it upon myself to make sure the 3 of us did something for her (Skyler bought us both breakfast from Dunkin Donuts, we did decide on lunch from Boston Market, which we hand delivered DMil & Erick's lunch to them at work(one of near hits was at the Grocery Store returning from getting Cookies & Drinks o go with lunch) and then a trip to Vera Bradley & Disney Store for Mom's Birthday & Mother's Day Gift, and one last Mother's Day Gift for DMil since Erick didnt know what to get her(where the other near hit happened as we were in the middle of the crosswalk to go into the mall).
Melissa, I am so bummed we're going to miss you in Disney and by a day at that. Geez, now I am frusterated my mom changed my dates on me(I'm still happy we're staying longer though).
Erick actually made me happy as another one ofmy 3 BFFs Crystle(she lives
in thr Boston Area) wanted to know when we would be back out there to visit her, however Erick did mention if I wanted a Girls Only Trip just Crystle & I, he was perfectly fine with it. So now that planning and saving is in the works as she wants to take a 3 Night DCL Cruise & spend a few days at Disney, since she has never been. This makes me so happy to finally be able to intoduce her to Disney and have some fun. I am going to be a little more laid back and let her let me know where at Disney she wants to eat
and rides and shows she's most interested in(hopefully they still have the dessert party, so I can surprise her with that as a surprise ending to our trip).

Congrats on the tickets!
Sorry about the bad drivers on Mother's Day.
Sounds like you've got some great trips to plan coming up.
Thank you so much Kelly. It will be nice to introduce Crystle to Disney, since she's never been. I just hope she doesnt think I'm too crazy for suggestin one night in MK for MVMCP and one full day split between Epcot & WS/ DHS for Osborne Lights, and then cruise for 3 days. She and I are supposed to chat on the phone in a few hours, so hopefully we can start planning that trip(and booking at least the cruise soon). Skyler is coming with, but Erickis all for the trips!
We found a few more things for Skyler at Dollar Tree(great place to find Disney items). We found a Toy Story Beach Ball, Pool Floaties, & Swim goggles, as well as Pixar's Cars Beach Ball & floaties. We also found a Mickey Mouse little chalk board. We stocked up on rain ponchos there too( I have 1, but bought Mom & I each a 2 pack. We actually went there Wed. after dropping Erick off at work since he got called in(his mom brought him home since they carpool on dys they work together).
Mother's day we bought mom's lanyard, zip ID pouch (which contain her MNSSHP Ticket & a Disney Gift Card from us to pay for her 2 character meals) and I got her All in One Wristlet as well from Vera Bradley. I cant wait to give them to her.
We did have to call The Mommy Lady (as Erick says it) or as I've always called her The Mama Bear today to wish her a Happy Birthday. We did talk a little about the trip and she is excited although she thinks she'll be doing some people watchin. While Skyler & I ride the rides. I told her the only 3 rides I may ask her to take pictures of us on are Dumbo, Aladdin's Carpets, & Barnstormer, but other than that it will be rides all 3 of us can enjoy together. I did tell her I had planned to bring Tylenol & Advil, and icy hot for our achy bodies (for some reason she didn't think I woul need it, but I did remind her of my injuries I sustained in a car accident a few years ago that still bother me, as well as my knees, so she knows I'm on the achy body list with her).
I did tell her I will be the one to run around and get FP for us for rides. She didn't know you need FP for Peter Pan. She & I love Peter Pan so we know that ride is a must for us. hShe laughed when I told her I still have not ridden SWSA ever since my first trip when I was 5. That ride scared me so much. She was so dissappointed the 3 of us wont get to ride IASW as it will be refurbed while we're there(thanks again Kelly for the heads up. My guess to is they're adding more glitter & paint, which my mom even asked if that was what they were doing to the ride). She loves IASW and so do I. It will be a shame Skyler won't get to ride it on his 1st Visit. My mom did request we not go to SGE. I have happily obliged on that request after all the tips on the awful scents you all have give me(thank you). Mom wasnt too fond of those when she went with my sister a few years ago and said the long line they stood in wasn't worth it. I did ask my mom if she has ever tried a Dole Whip, and she hasn't either, but she is up for trying one.
Also a few days ago after reading one of Cam's posts on Luke looking up maps of Disney around the time of their first visit, it inspired me to look for maps of 1988 when my 1st visit was(Thank you Cam & Luke). I did find maps of Epcot, MK, and even a brochure for the resort we stayed at, which I thought was Fort Wilderness Cabins. Nope we stayed at what was then Disney Village Resort(later turned into Disney Institute Resort, and now is The Treehouse Villas). All I could remember is we stayed somewhere that had a loft, as my then 4 year old sister, also 4 year old cousin, & I shared the loft, and my mom & dad had one room and my aunt & uncle had the other.
I did forget to ask my mom today if she is able to pull out more old pictures, especially old Disney Pictures for me to share with you all. I will have to ask her the next time I talk to her though(at least she has a few months to look and pull some out for me). I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!
Great update! So glad Luke inspired you to look up a map from your first visit. It was so to travel down memory lane.
Thank you. I had actually never realized there was still more to MK & Epcot than we actually went on back then. Until I looked it up, I didnt even know Epcot already had World Showcase there either. Cam, please thank Luke for me. It really was fun to see how much has changed and how much is the same(or much improved). My mom either was baffled that either I had that good of a memory or I did some research. I told her I rememvered us staying at a place with a loft and Googled it. Seriously there are worse things that I could have done(not saying I would), but seriously I love to still do researxh especially when it's just for fun, and this certainly was for a trip down memory lane which was so much fun to do.

I know what you mean about wishing I still had our's too. I know I have my old Season Pass somewhere(probably in a box in my dad's attic somewhere), however I do have possession of my dad's old season pass from one of our trips. It cracks me up because the man never smiles and always looks like he has an 'Elvis Smirk' in every picture he takes. His picture looks like a Mug Shot. I am happy I have his though.
Sorry for my lack of updates everyone, but I do thank you for patiently waiting for me to write more. Things have just been a little crazy here with Erick's Dad's 50th Birthday on Sunday, and Erick has been having me plan our Wedding Anniversary activities which he still has not told me if he is taking that Tuesday fully off of work yet (it isn't until June 1st, but he knows I have been looking for a cake for us, which somehow has been different every year since we didn't have an actual wedding cake, and just had a different slice of Cheesecake on our Wedding Day). I know he still has yet to inform me so I know if we will be trying out a Cajun Restaurant in Maryland (which I know for a fact is a Chain from a New Orleans based company, so their food is authentic) which I have actually been dying to go to with Erick since I know he can't get enough of Cajun Food, being a Cajun himself. If not he has me wondering if he will get off of work a few hours early so we can spend time together (his other job knows they are not allowed to call him in that night to work).
Besides Disney Shopping, Erick also has had me do some early shopping for Skyler's Birthday(of course not until July, but still wants me stocking up on everything early).
Anyhoo, I just realized when making our ADR for Chef Mickey's that I only made it for Skyler & I. I did call Disney Dining yet again to see if I could add my mom onto the ressie, or change the time, but no such luck. Instead our breakfast is now at 8:45 am at O'hana. At least we will be leaving on the note of my favorite word for Family! I kind of figured since she will be leaving that day to head back home and we're staying, she can have breakfast with us one last time. It will be a tearful farewell at least for mom & I as it always is, but what can I say she is a pretty special woman and it is hard to say goodbye to her only wishing we lived closer to her so it isn't so tough each and every time.
I think from there after mom heads off Skyler & I are going to catch the bus from The Poly over to AK and see the animals, and stay as long as we can. I know it closes at 5:00 pm that day, so we will either head back early to the resort or to DTD and get dinner there, and any last minute souvies that we hadn't gotten a chance to get for everyone, and then pack everything up. I was debating if I was going to do the early check out or not and I think with Skyler it might actually be my best bet, since I won't have mom to help with him while we check out and get our things checked in for our flight (or as originally planned heading back to Mom's).
I finally got 2 pair of the Zip-off pants from LL Bean, and even thought to buy them one size up (these ones come with a comfy belt) so incase all the food we're consuming from Disney wants to sneak up on me, I will still have comfy pants/shorts to wear, and can actually detach the belt to wear with a few other pair of shorts and pants I have that are a little too loose, but are the only ones I have that fit.
I have thought of decorating our room a tad bit but in a way that won't take up too much time. For Skyler's 2nd Halloween (the one that he's dressed up as Pluto when he was 1) I had bought him a Pooh in a Costume Beanie Baby & Eeyore in a Costume Beanie Baby (Erick's sister didn't want it, so Skyler got it instead) and Erick got Stitch in a costume from Skyler & I, so since we still have all 3 of those guys around, I just need to wash them and pack them, but they will hopefully go in our window to help us identify our room. I think window clings for 3 nights is just too much work, but we may try to do something for the door to make our room a little more us!
Photobucket has been giving me trouble or else I would have more photos up (sorry again everyone). I am trying to get those loaded, resized, and posted.
More great plans. We loved the breakfast at Ohana's and well, you know how I feel about Chef Mickey's right now. That should be a really nice farewell meal for your mom and it's such a family place.
What cajun restaurant in Maryland and where? Just curious. Wherever you go, I'm sure it will be a special time.
Thank you so much Marnie. It could be my laptop too having issues too, besides Photobucket. I'm glad I'm not the only one having issues with Photobucket. Thank you so much for the pixies.
Melissa, I know how you feel about Chef Mickey's and was actually glad I cancelled that ressie. I told Erick about your experience nd he thought it was awful too. Gosh I still can remember doing the Hula with the Hula Dancers when I was 5, so I'm now happy I will be dining in The Poly, even if I'm not staying there(it is one of my dream resorts to stay at). I know I made the right choice to make a ressie to include my mom for one last meal. I'm so glad you enjoyed Ohanas. It sounds like it will be fun for us, and I hope Mickey comes with a friendly attitude or they won't hear the end of it from me. We saw Copeland's (the Cajun Restaurant) and actually wanted to try it for our 1st Anniversary when we stayed overnight in Annapolis, but we didn't make it there(we had to get home to Skyler). He would e comingwith us this time, but Erick's parents have been to plenty of Al Copeland's Restaurants in Louisiana that they come highly recommended(anything to give Erick Crawfish and Cajun food besides the delicious Cajun Dishes they make at home, makes me happy). We do hve a few Cajun Restaurants in Virginia, however one of them we have refused to go back to because they wouldn't let us in once because of Skyler, and we tried goimg there for lunch my 1st Mother's Day(apparently they don't allow children 10 and younger in, and their sign which they had posted on their door was covered because their door was wide open). I was tryin to see with Erick if he took the day off for us to go tour Annapolis more this time, even if Skyler came with us. In any case though we're spending either all day or part of the day in Maryland(we did decide not to go seethe Red Sox play at Oriole Park, since I know my ex is a regular there wants to tag along to a game, all I can say is akward).
Also another update, Hershey Park is a no go this weekend. Erick has been working late Saturday nights and is working Sunday that we'll catch the Imagination Movers another time they're on tour. I am sad Skyler won't get to see them live this time, but there will be another opportunity.
Thankyou Melissa.I can't wait for Erick & I to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. 3 Yeears has flown by too quickly(and right about this time 3 years ago we were doing our ring shopping last minute for all 3 of them). Actually yesterday was the 4 Year Anniversary of when Erick & I got Engaged. Time does fly.
