We were inspired by Samantha Brown's Carnival cruise so away we go! - Page 21 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Sick on vacation is just WRONG!!! Sounds like a fun day until the virus hit. Love your new sig pic from dinner but you are looking a little burnt. Looking forward to more.
What a great day until Eric got so sick!! Wow, I think I would have freaked out when he passed out. Thank goodness you were on this trip with his parents and had them to help you out taking care of him. Hopefully it doesn't last much longer and we can hear some good news on the next update!
I'm all caught up. Sounds like it was a great first day on the ship. Day two started out great. How terrible that Eric got sick! Hurry back and let us know if it was short lived or not and if anyone else got sick....... my biggest fear is getting sick on vacation!
Day two was really great until the end....it really started that night and lasted throughout the next day as you will soon see
I hate getting sick on vacation....it really is the worst!

Btw, love your dress.
Yay you made it over!!! I see your countdown BTW.....
I was so glad his parents were there because I wouldn't have had a clue as to what to do by myself!!
Thanks about the dress its my new fave!
Thanks for being patient guys! That second day was actuallly great until he got sick which didn't start until around 10pm. Luckily This next day was our worst on the trip actually! But like I said the first two were great despite that night
Monday: March 29th, At Sea and San Juan, PR
Eric was still very sick this morning. I didn't get up until around 10am because I had not slept very much the night before.
His parents came over this morning around 1015 and asked if I wanted to get some breakfast in the Lido Buffet.
I jumped at the invitation since Eric was still in bed.
We went to the lido buffet. I love breakfast buffets. I got eggs and french toast and bacon. You name it, I got it! Breakfast is truly my fave anyway
We sat in the buffet dining room and discussed what we should do about Eric. They decided that if he didnt' feel better by the end of the day we would all but force him to go to the Medical center on the ship.
We enjoyed our breakfast and decided to skip laying out in the sun today although it was sunny and 80 to 90 degrees
We went back to the room and hung out on the balcolny for awhile. His parents just went about the ship and did their own thing for a few hours. We were set to dock at San Juan at 5pm. Eric just wanted to lay in bed until we got there hoping he would feel better. We gave him OTC meds like pepto and bonine. None of which worked all too well...
I took a shower and got ready for San Juan. I then decided to go to the Lido and get him an apple or crackers or anything. They really didn't have anything. So, I got an apple and a banana and brought it to him.
In the meantime I also got myself a coffee to drink. gourmet coffee. They had two coffee bars on the ship that was OOP. But they were so delish!
I hung out with him some more while he layed around and watched TV. Not to be gross but he had Diarhea. He had it all day. We gave him imodium and it worked somewhat.
His parents asked me to go eat lunch with thim in the lido deck and I did. It was good as usual
We came back to the room and around 430 we started to come into San Juan.....
Eric wasn't feeling too well but was determined to see us coming into port and to take part in the pictures. He also wanted to get off the ship and try things out since it had been awhile since he had thrown up.
Here is the Fort coming into San Juan...
Here I am and I tyed my hair to the side because it was SOOO windy on the balcolny today...
Eric kept going inside. We are still unsure of what he was doing...we think he was hiding how sick he was from us.
So, I took a self pic which ended up happening a lot while he was sick *L*
Here is the boat docking at Old San Juan...
Once we were docked it was not long before we were cleared to leave the ship. Eric said he was fine just feeling very dehydrated.
IT WAS HOT!!! and HUMID!! I would say it was high 80's. So, I'm sure this did not help Eric feel much better.
We were not sure he should get off the ship but he kept saying he was fine. He really wanted to go to the Burberry outlet. We had decided months before we were going to this outlet and checking it out. We knew it was roughly a mile from the ship. Eric had memorized the map and we knew where it was located.
It didn't take 5 minutes to get off the ship and we were standing in dowtown Old San Juan.
For those of you who may be wondering how close you are to Old San Juan....you are literally right in Downtown Old San Juan when you get off the ship. Everything is witihin walking distance once you get off the ship which is very lovely!!!
We started to make our way over to the Burberry outlet. We had been given a shopping map when we exited the ship which had all the street names on it. The city is on a grid system so things are very easy to find if you can read a map at all
Eric took pics along the way over to the outlets.
This City is just gorgeous with its colorful buildings. We had rain on us last trip so this trip it was just so nice and sunny and absolutely gorgeous!
We really took in all the buildings this time and really got the chance to look around more which was nice.
We slowly made our way over to the Burberry Outlet as you can see in this picture I'm walking over to it.....the building is this beautiful easter egg blue!!!
Here is a pic of the streets which we
We went in the store and I scored on a wallet I had been looking for to match my purse. I would say things are around 30 to 40 percent off. I paid 225 for the wallet and the same wallet was 325 at the store in the states.
Eric was starting to loose his OOMPH at this point. He looked around but with little enthusiasm. Which was awful because he was most excited about this store. He said he didn't find anything he wanted. He was starting to look very pale and we said we wanted to take him back to the ship.
He refused so we went into another couple of stores. His mom went into Coach outlet and bought a purse. At this point we decided to head back because he was looking very sickly.
At first we decided to hit a drugstore to see if we could find some poweraide or something he could drink.
We found a store and it did sell poweraide. He drank nearly the whole thing on our walk back.
He continued to take pictures....
As we neared the ship I decided to make sure we got some pictures together in San Juan...
It was nearly after 7pm at this point. Eric wanted us to stay off the ship and he was going to go back on by himself. But, he started to look pasty and pale and we refused to let him go back by himself.
We were in San Juan until midnight but we felt like we got to do most of what we had wanted to do so we decided to go back with him.....
So, we get back on the ship and he looks as if he is going to pass out again.
Luckily the Medical Center is right as you get on the ship.
We felt bad about doing this to him but we made him go into the Medical Center.
He fought us the whole way but he was seen immediately.
THANK GOD TOO because he immediately passed out again
The nurse had a Brittish accent and was very soothing. Eric really responded well to her and she took great care of him.
We were in here about 30-45minutes.
She called his mother in and explained he had a stomach virus.
She said that she was going to give him a series of medications. One was for throwing up, another was for stomach pains and the other was immodium.
She said he would be quarantined to his room until 4pm the next day.
she said he was to go straight to the room and he was to not eat anywhere but the room.
She said water would be free to him through room service and that food would be provided that would help him while he was sick.
She said that I was to have the room cleaned throughly over and over by the cabin steward. She said I was to wash my hands over and over and he was to do so as well.
She sent us to the room with him around 8pm. She called and cancelled his excursion to St. John the next day and said that if he had stopped throwing up the next day and was fine around 4pm he could get off the ship then.
We took him to the room. He immediately threw up all the poweraide he had drank.
We gave him the Phengrin she prescribed.
IT KNOCKED HIM OUT!!! LOL
We decided to call the cabin steward who was a dreamboat!!! He helped us tremendously. He cleaned the bathroom throughly again and provided clean towels.
We decided to let Eric sleep and went in search of food for dinner.
We went to the lido and ordered pizza and salads.
Which was EXTRA YUMMY!!!!
We headed back to the room and Eric was knocked out cold *L* he would wake up and talk in his sleep and it was so funny!!
We got dressed for bed and had drinks on the balcolny which I thought was just lovely. Looking at San Juan lit up at night and the night was wonderfully warm and breezy
We talked until around midnight and I went to bed when the ship pulled out.......
I did take this pic for Eric before he snuggled in for the night....
I had to wake him up at 330am and give him another round of medicine. He thank god had not had throwing up or diarhea after that....
He took the medicine and slept soundly as well did I
Up next: Eric begins to feel normal again but sadly I go to St. John alone
