Our Magical New York Wedding-- a Pixie Dusted Wedding and Honeymoon Report! - Page 21 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

What a great day in NY!! Now of course I want to add the zoo to my museum/WOD trip with my boys in the spring.
I LOVE LOVE Enchanted and usually rewind to watch the "How Do You Know" song twice.
What a great "theme" you had going all day...and talk about some tasty food. Yummm, it all sounded awesome. And I would have also gotten sucked into the bag. But, it is a great bag!!
What a great trip to the city and WOD... Looks like you will have to go back for some more tea lol
I thought about making Rob take me down there for my birthday but after I told him that tea was the main reason he said he would order it for me from Walt Disney World mailorder!
We are going to the Bronx Zoo for my birthday instead!

As for advice, I have to follow suit with Kenny, always appreciate each day for the great importance that it is, you don't know if you will have another one and for that reason never hide what you are feeling, say what is on your mind, and never let the day go without saying how much you love each other, even if it is just a silent look between you.
Next off...what a great day in the city. You hit so many great places and it sounds like it was just so much fun, looks like you had good weather too. Mel, if you want the tea let me know, I work like 8 blocks from there so I can always run over and grab you some.
Thank you so much! And great advice!
I am going to PM you about the WOD and the tea! lol!

Okay let me just say that I am just like that with Enchanted! I looooove that song! I have it on my phone! lol!
Not to throw a wrench in the works but the zoo is in the south-eastern corner of the park so you exit right out onto 5th avenue-- just a few short blocks away from WOD so if you were walking from the museum to WOD its totally on the way! it was soooooo worth the $10 admission!
Aww... thanks for the compliments and well wishes! Sorry to hear about the divorce. Robs family went through something similar with his father leaving and its only now that he realizes what his mother did for him and appreciates her. Moms really are superheros sometimes!
Aww! Thanks!
You're trip in NYC was so awesome! Looks like you & you're friend had a great time! All your planning makes me want to get married! Hmm, I need a prince 1st!
Great update Melissa! I love that you had an Alice day! I just can't wait for the new movie to come out!
As for wedding advice. I'm not married, but my parents have been married for 35 years and I secretly believe that their secret is red wine. It fixes everything. As for relationship advice. Two things are really important. Communicating your feelings and HUGS!!

Oh, Good!! Now...how far of a walk is it from the museum to the zoo? We could start there, then hit the zoo then WOD and pic up some souveniers on our way home. (if that's doable)

The museum is on Central Park West and like 78th... you would have to head into the park and walk across (about 3 long blocks) then down to like 65th to hit the zoo... but if you have a park map out you can stop like at the carousel and stuff. that would be like the equivalent of a half mile. then you will be exiting the park on the East side which is right on 5th Avenue... and like 59th so youd only have a few blocks to get to WOD. Heres a central park map: museum of natural history, nyc - Google Maps

You're the Best!! Thanks for the map...but, I think maybe it would just be easier if we just hired you as our "City Guide" for the day.
Wow, Mel, I those table cards. Such a great idea! And glad you liked Mary Poppins. That's one I need to see. Love your day trip into the city. Looks like you had lots of fun.

Mickey's so happy to see me back, he can barely contain himself!
OKay so i'm sooooo behind But, i do have a few comments!
First, I love those table cards....but i'm a sucker for old movie stars and music and moon river MUST be played at the wedding..its the best
Second, I am so glad you guys had such a good time at Mary Poppins! I always love it when my mother and i can do stuff together like that. I have only seen The lion King and i will have to say I cried...it was amazing!! I've never seen anything like it and it was soooo worth it!!
Third, I'm not married so i dont have much wisdom to impart *LOL* but i love Kenny's advice! AND I want to say that dont get lost in the plans of the wedding...enjoy the moment and dont let it get you all anxious because i've been in many weddings where the bride was a b***h and it was all because she was so worried about everything going right. JUST remember to breathe!! it will all be fine. As a counselor another piece of advice is ...never go to bed angry....and TALK...communicate....and be on the same page with finances.... weird advice but its what i see people separate for in counseling!
So, now that brings me to your wedding plans! WOW...i need you an amanda to fly in whenever i get engaged because i had no idea so MUCH went into planning a wedding! You are doing such a great job and i cannooooot believe its nearly here!!
I the earrings you bought for your bridesmaids! Too cute
Okay, so the day in New York was amazing!!! It sounds like you had such a good time and i the alice theme (well i'm a little partial ) That cafe was super cute and i cannot believe that you went to Carrie's house from Sex and the city!!!!!!!!!! I am so jealous and so excited that you were standing right there!!! Such an awesome thing!
And dont worry i'm a sucker for bags from disney...i have a closet full of bags that people always talk me into buying
The tea is the best, i would agree! I hope you find someone to bring you some back!
Okay so i'm all caught up!! woooo hoooo.....
You make me want to take a trip to NYC this summer....there is so much to always to there compared to here!!
