Have a Happy Birthday - Part One - Updated 9/30 COMPLETE - Page 21 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I love Maddie's face in these two pictures. First she sees Sleeping Beauty scratch her chin and then she looks at her hand as if to say "Um . . . Sleeping Beauty . . . what's on your hand?"
No one was behind us in line, so she spent several minutes talking with both girls. They were in heaven. When other families began approaching, she left them both with a lasting goodbye kiss on their cheeks.
This was one of our best character interactions ever! Princess Aurora made both girls feel as if they were the most special little girls in the world. She took the time to talk, laugh and play with them. And she left them both with gigantic smiles and souvenir lipstick kisses.
Thom and Mary Devall’s FP’s for TT were ripe, so they went in one direction while Maddie and I went in another with plans to meet at Soarin’. Before Maddie and I left France, I did have a secret mission. No one was in line at the champagne kiosk, so I strolled Maddie at breakneck speed to make sure that I was first in line. I greeted the CM with a big and told him that I had been waiting a long time for a Grand Marnier slush. I couldn’t believe how many times I had ordered champagne from this kiosk without even noticing the frozen drinks!
The CM acted as if he was just excited about my first Grand Marnier slush as I was because as soon as he sat the overflowing orange goodness in front of me, he wanted me to taste it. When I did, my knees almost buckled. The look on my face must have said it all because the three women who had appeared behind me in line immediately said “We want that!” After I paid, thanked the CM and was walking away, my drink was still garnering attention because I received several “what’s that?”
It is a beautiful drink, but more than anything, it is absolutely delicious. Now I can’t wait to try the Grey Goose Lemon Slush to contrast and compare! Not only were total strangers interested in my drink, but my little girl was too. I told her that she couldn’t have my drink, but I would find her a slushie.
I finally spotted a non-alcoholic slushie opportunity at a coffee kiosk in Canada, so we stopped. I gave Maddie her choices and, of course, she had to go with the blue drink. I could just picture the blue all over her cute little white shirt (and I can proudly tell you that she didn't spill a drop ). Once she had her blue drink in hand, we continued on to FW.
The FP’s were all gone for Soarin’, so we just sat in seating area at Sunshine Seasons to let Maddie enjoy her blue slushie (my Grand Marnier slushie was long gone by then ). When Maddie had her fill, there was still no sign of Thom and Mary Devall so I let her run around the FP area with another little girl. They had the best time chasing each other. One would fall down (on purpose ) and hold out her hand to the other saying “Help me!” This went on for a good 20 minutes before I figured that we had better head outside so that I could get a signal on my cell phone to find out where Thom and Mary Devall were.
We said goodbye to Maddie’s new friend and then walked outside to call Thom who was almost the The Land when he answered. I broke the “no more FP’s for Soarin’” news to him before we all headed over to see Figment. After a fun ride, Thom and Mary Devall played around in the “hands on” area while Maddie and I checked out the shop. By the time that Maddie touched every single thing for sale, the rest of the gang had joined us. The girls each picked out a surprise – a lollipop for Maddie and a Heffalump Pez dispenser for Mary Devall - - and we headed outside to let them enjoy their snacks (I believe that Thom also had to take a business call at that point also).
Just as some people were exiting from Figment, Mary Devall yelled out “Mommy, I think Maddie just pooped.” Thankfully, the people just laughed and didn’t seem to be totally grossed out. Thom went with Maddie to do the diaper changing honors once he was off the phone.
Up next . . .my brush with fame

Those pictures with Sleeping Beauty are just fantastic! The one of Mary Devall and her walking would be my fav too, it's beyond special. I have to tell you how much Maddie reminds my of my youngest DD at that age, some of the smiles and faces that she make me they look so much like Alyssa used to look. How time flies! Can't wait for more!
I just the pictures of your girls with Princess Aurora!!! Too cute! I'm so glad that you chose BBB and that she wore her dress the next day too. What a special birthday she had just from wearing that dress
Jill, the pics with Aurora are spectatular. How wonderful that Mary Duvall had her dress on again. So glad you enjoyed the Gran Marnier. Hope you got to try the Grey Goose as i thought it was better. Hurry back. Looking forward to more.

That is just an amazing character interaction....how awesome the girls' time with Princess Aurora must have been. Love all the pics, but I agree, the one of MD and Aurora walking hand-in-hand....fabulous! Did you think about submitting it to allears?

What a fantastic photo!!!!Mary Devall looks like a little princess in training!! I think this is one time when I will have to respectfully disagree with allears, because that is just the perfect photo!!
What an amazing character meet...I love the picture of Mary Devall and Aurora walking hand in hand. It so reminds me of the picture that has Minnie and a young girl walking hand in hand but this was just so perfect and the fact that the walk to the character spot was totally empty so that all you had in your line of view was the two of them...
It sounds as both Mary Devall and Maddie had such a great meet here and some one on one time with Aurora (and Thom was definitely getting his fair share of face time with some princesses)
Glad you were able to enjoy your Grey Goose Slushie and that Maddie got to enjoy her slushie as well...
