Looking for ice, pools, and air conditioning! - Complete!! - Page 21 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I love the Ferry to MK, but I don't think we've ever been on it with that few people! Glad you made the Opening! Bummer that Dumbo already had an hour wait. Stefanie loves iasw, too.
I remember loving the Ferry ride in '95 so wanted DD to experience it too. I like seeing new things so the opening was fun. I couldn't believe Dumbo was already so long! None of the other rides in the area were like that. There must be something about girls and dolls that just go together.

After DD rode the Carosel, we moved to the tea cups, it was a little early for me to spin but I rode for DD. Of course we had to get a pink cup. We're waiting to start.
I snapped this after I told DD that I was getting dizzy and she needed to stopped spinning us!
While we were riding Bro took a few pics.
Up Next: Tomorrowland

Onward to Autopia, in DLR it was raining when we went on this and DD did not drive well at all so I was a little surprised she wanted to try again. Bro was ready for a ride though since he had opted out of the last two. We waited almost 15 minutes for this ride, you know how slow loaders go...
DD did better this time around driving but you can tell from the photo I'm giving directions and DD is working hard - notice the wrinkled nose?
Our FP were ready so we were off to Buzz, DD was determined to beat my score! She did.
Bro beat both of us though.
We were off to try to find Tiana greet spot, took us a while and I had to ask several CMs before we figured it out. She wasn't there yet but at least we knew where to find her.
Somewhere along the way Bro took this pic. Not sure where it is, but I really like it.
At the tea cups?
The plan was to pick up FP for BTMR. This is one of DD's favorites and Bro's too. Then off to POTC, Bro and my favorite.
Up next POTC and who are those crazy people in the rain?

Great time at the Magic Kingdom - you're certainly packing the attractions in!
We were having lots of fun. I used Ride Max and so without hurrying or crossing the parks several times we got several rides in before lunch which was good for us as we had more energy in the AM and it wasn't so hot as the afternoon.
Looks like you're having lots of fun at MK!! I love the two pictures your brother took of the castle. I have so many pictures of the castle and always try to find different angles and views.

Bro has been into photography since high school and always looks for an interesting view.

I don't get motion sick but too much spinning early I can get really dizzy.
I'm glad I didn't live during this time, I wouldn't make a good wench for sale.
One of my favorite scenes.
After having our POTC fix, we headed back over to Tiana's M&G only to find a very long line so didn't even try. It was starting to rain, not just a sprinkle but a pretty good rain. DD thought she wanted a snack so we went back towards Frontierland thinking we would pick up a snack, and make our way leisurely towards BTMR. We saw a popcorn stand but as we made our way towards it the CM covered it and left. Umm, I thought maybe it was time for her break or something. It started raining hard! We didn't have an umbrella or poncho because it had been such a sunny day. Bro and I were commenting that the rain really helped cool things off. I said, it was the most comfortable temp. I had been since I arrived. We spotted a pretzel stand and walked over but the CM was closing. I asked if we could get a pretzel, she apologize and explained it was WDW policy that if it rained this hard they had to close and go stand under cover. I didn't understand this as saw I no harm in getting wet, (I think it was something about lightning) but you can't fight city hall right? We continued down the street, on the left were all the shops and restraunts and people jammed packed under awnings and in doorways to stand out of the rain. I told DD and Bro I thought it was odd that every single person we saw was trying to stay out of the rain. I figured once the sun came out we would dry off quick. But the funniest thing was that all those people standing out of the rain were watching us 3 as we tromped through the water on the street, each step splashing while rain poured on us. If we thought they were strange, they probably thought we were crazy! Oooh, look at those people-they don't know enough to get out of the rain.
By the time we made it too BTMR, we were pretty wet, there was a CM at the entrance who told us it was closed because of the ...rain! Oh well, since rain was shutting everything down, we decided to see if we could get lunch. Bro and I wanted Pecos Bills but nothing there DD wanted so back out into the rain. I walked to Columbia Harbor house to get chicken nuggets for her, but didn't want to get the food soggy so I borrowed one of their menus (I brought it back!) since it was laminated it kept the rain off but didn't get ruined.
DD was happy to see me, they had found a table and Bro already had a taco salad so I went to get one too. It was nice to get some food but sitting in the cool restraunt in wet clothes made us on the chilly side. By the time we finished the rain had stopped so we headed for BTMR although by now our FP were past time but they let us on. We had a great time on Big Thunder.
My original plan was to spend the majority of the day in the park. We were supposed to go to TSI, CoP, Monsters Inc, catch the Dream with Mickey show and the afternoon parade. After BTMR we decided to go back to the hotel, change clothes and relax for awhile. On the way out we did see the end of Dream with Mickey. Next post I'll put up some more pics for this time.
