10 Nights of Magic in The Orlando Trifecta-TR - COMPLETE!! 12/10 - Page 20 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Wow, the tour sounds perfect for you. It's so not my sort of thing - to the point where I'm not going to watch the videos, as I think they'll scare the living daylights out of me! It does sound like there's a lot packed into it and it's good value for money though.
Like I said it's not for everyone but enjoying it so much! I think I made the right choice with the tour that even though expensive you see a lot and so many other things included.

It's a great and enjoyable tour and loving it so far! The videos do a good job and give an idea what the houses were like but being there in person is still better. They are scary and some better and more scarier than others.

Great reviews so far, and yes, it seems like the RIP tour is the way to go.
Thanks. Enjoying every bit of it and glad I opted to do the tour as you get to see and do so much. Much more than doing it on your own and waiting in long lines. Some houses can have two hour waits. Some of the lines I saw during the night may have been in this time frame.

For those folks who enjoy horror and being scared this sounds perfect. I though do NOT like to be scared and if I never saw another horror movie, I wouldn't be disappointed. Thanks for reviewing this experience as I'm sure some will be very interested.
Dave,
I am all caught up on your TR. Your stay at universal and your pictures have convinced me to stay at Universal when I next get to visit Harry Potter. You are braver than I am. I watched the 1st video and know I would be too scared to go in any more haunted houses!

You're so right as it's a matter of enjoying this sort of thing and whether or not you like being scared. It doesn't bother me on this level and having a great time. There's still more to come with the tour so beware!

The RIP certainly sounds like the way to go to beat the lines! I liked the theming if the Dead Waters House!
I think so too as so much is packed in and get to experience most things during Halloween Horror Nights while allowing plenty of time for breaks. Dead Waters was one of the better houses.

Glad I can help with a future Universal stay as being on property is quite convenient. It's just a matter of how much you want to spend at one of these resorts. The deluxe resorts can be expensive but not quite in WDW territory and there are deals to be found. I found the boat transportation to be a big perk of staying there as so convenient. Can use this at 4/5 of the resorts. Not Cabana Bay as only bus service.
The houses can be quite scary and some better and scarier than others. The theming is great in these and for the whole event. I just think it's not real and nothing to worry about.....except, when things jump out at you unexpectedly!

Thursday, October 5th (Part V) We proceeded to our fourth house of the evening, which was a short walk. It’s “American Horror Story Vol. 2” and based on the TV series. It’s located not too far from the park entrance and across from the Shrek attraction.
Here’s the description of this house: “Experience three horrifying stories in one disturbing house as a deranged cast of characters seek not only your life, but your soul.” This was one of the more popular houses as there was quite a long wait in the standby line.
Here’s the video for “American Horror Story Vol. 2” for your enjoyment, if you dare!
I enjoyed this house very much with a large scare factor. The theming was very good and there is so much going on. Once our group reconvened outside the consensus among all of us was that this was a big hit. Jarrarie, said this is one of his favorite houses.
Over one block was our next house, which was adjacent to the Hollywood Rip Ride Rocket coaster. This was “The Shining” and was one I was looking forward to as I have seen this movie many times. This house had another very big line as I expected.
Here’s the description: “The visually intense psychological thriller is now the most terrifying haunted experience imaginable.” Although, I felt this house was very good, I thought it could have been a bit better. It may have been due to that I’m so familiar with the movie and knew what to expect. I still enjoyed it.
Here’s the video for “The Shining” house. I’m sure many of you will be quite familiar of the theming, characters and action inside.
When I arrived outside most of those in our group enjoyed this house but felt something was missing. I felt they could have done more with the maze of shrubs and make it more realistic. Other than that, it was quite good.
After my group, had assembled outside, we returned to Café La Bamba for a break and some snacks. I had a beer and indulged mostly with some of the desserts.
These were all quite good as I was quite hungry and had some of each! The cupcakes on the left were particularly good! The macaroons were good as well! But, I've had better in Paris! They are certainly to die for there! That's for you Cheryl!
After our break at Café La Bamba we left to visit our first Scare Zone of the night. This was close by and quite a good one. It’s “Trick ‘r Treat.” Here’s the description: “Break the rules. Pay the price. That’s the murderous moral of the five twisted stories in Trick ‘r Treat, a darkly hilarious tribute to Halloween.” I enjoyed this zone and there was a lot going on and quite colorful as you’ll see below.
Love the lighting and theming!
Perhaps, he’s awaiting my arrival?
I think his shirt is in dire need of a trip to the dry cleaners!
Who is this, do I know you, as you look familiar?
This was a good scare zone and one I enjoyed so much as done so well with great characters, theming and lighting. Once we finished this scare zone there were more characters just past it near The Simpson’s attraction.
Being near The Simpson’s ride, I wonder if he’s related to Krusty?
We walked past The Simpson’s attraction to haunted house number 6 for the night. This one was near the Men in Black attraction. This is “The Horrors of BlumHouse.” Here’s the description: “From the minds behind ‘Insidious,’ ‘The Purge’ and ’Sinister’ comes the Horrors of BlumHouse.”
This house was ok, but didn’t do a lot for me. The theming wasn’t that great and neither were the characters. It could have been so much better as they had three movies as the premise for this house. I don’t think anyone in our group was that crazy about it as well!
NEXT: Uh, Oh What Just Happened?

More scary houses! What are these buildings the rest of the year? I assume they're not in ride buildings, since the parks are open as usual during the day. Are the haunted houses assembled just for Halloween season? Or are the buildings there all year but we just don't know it?
