The "We either need more Motrin or less kids' Trip report, August - Sept 2010 - UPDATED 11/7: Final Day - Page 20 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

That is fantastic Pinky! Great job!
Funny how well you are known Brent.
Liz - for the safety of the princesses that is one shirt that needs to be made.
Be patient guys! It's coming but it's gonna be a busy weekend. Went out to a play with the family last night to a play put on by Middle school kids. Can anyone guess what it was?

It was awsome! SO incredibly so that I am trying to convince him that he and I should go back and watch the last presentation of it tomorrow afternoon! Can I hear a "whooo hoooo"?!?!?!?
After the princess encounter we figured that was just about the finest way to leave the Magic kingdom, so we got some Dole Whips, strolled around a bit and said our goodbyes to the Magic Kingdom. Later on in the day we went to Downtown Disney, Disneyquest specifically. The younger kids had been looking forward to this for the whole trip. First stop: Cyberspace mountain and design your own roller coaster. We did it twice: First time Liz and I designed one and rode it. I thought it was pretty intense. Then Brendan designed one and I rode it with him and it made the one Liz and I designed look like a kiddie coaster. That kid had me upside down, inside out and thrown all around. After that, myself, Brendan, Jordan and Cheyenne rode the pirate battle as Tori and Liz disappeared. Now where did they go? Anyway, It was very uncrowded in there so they let us ride it three times in a row. The kids were in thier glory. After we sent ol' blackbeard to the depths we came out and played some games in the arcade, then I had all I could stand of Disneyquest. I can really only take that place for a couple hours. So leaving Jordan in charge, I went outside for some air. I decided to go for a walk along the river. It was a very nice, calm day. Totally opposite from the atmosphere of Disneyquest. I saw the ferry go bye and found a bench to sit down and watch it from.
Now where were Tori and Liz??? I happened to look up and I saw the characters in flight balloon up, so I decided to take a few pictures.
My phone went off, I had a txt. It was from Liz. It said 'look up'. Could it be? Liz and Tori were up in that balloon! A few more pictures:
They really enjoyed it. I'll leave it up to Liz to tell you about the flight, but it's safe to say the really enjoyed it. After that it was on to the world of Disney, to pick up some goodies for the way home. I got a couple magnets for the fridge and a keychain with the princesses on it. Then we found a seat outside and waited for the rest of our group to find us. I happened to notice this on the outside of the World of Disney store.
Wow! Cinderella truly is everywhere! This is probably as good a time as any to include a picture of her and I that I meant to put in before but didn't:
I realize this picture was totally self serving. Sorry!!! But just look how happy she is to see me!! I just had to put this one in.
After that we headed back to the resort to have a meal at the food court, relax and begin the sad process of packing up for the trip home. It actually went very well and we were done packing up what we could. Brendan wanted to go to the Hippy Dippy pool and find someone to play Ping pong with, so I went with him, found a lounge chair, and started typing notes in my blackberry about our trip. (Thank goodness for modern technology. Without my blackberry with me to type notes into I would never be able to keep all the things that happened straight.) Here's where a really neat moment happened. I was sitting there in my lounger collecting my thoughts and busily pecking away on my blackberry when out of the corner of my eye I spotted a little girl walking with her mother. The little girl looked at me then tugged on her mother and said. 'Mommy! Cinderella's on that man's shirt!' The mother then shot me a grin and the little girl walked away smiling. Ahhhh only in Disney! Reality is coming much to soon though. I knew this time tomorrow, the Cinderella shirts would have to be put away for another trip.
Departure day: Friday Sept 3rd. Departure day. Got up early this morning for my last walk around the property nursing my coffee. Got some breakfast at the food court to use up what was left of our meal credits then got a cart from luggage and got all the luggage loaded in the van to be out of our rooms before checkout time. One little mishap involving a runaway cart and an uneven sidewalk and some soft ground later we were loaded and on our way to Epcot. Couple last rides. Mission Space, Test Track and Ellen's Energy ride later we were getting ready to go. We decided Spaceship earth was a good way to say Goodbye to Epcot. Rode that then headed back to Pop. Goodbye Epcot!
Used up our final meal credits That just about does it for our trip. On the way back we stopped in the middle of the night at a rest area and caught a couple hour nap but other than that we drove straight through back to Michigan. Another neat thing happened though. We stopped Saturday morning for a McDonalds breakfast in southern Indiana and by sheer luck it was the exit where there was a little family owned hotel where Liz and her family stayed on vacations every year when she was a kid. She knew it because it had a pool with a smiley face in the bottom of it and it was called Mariannes. Pretty cool. Tell em about it, Liz!
Anyway, there you have it! It was a great vacation. Our first one driving to Florida and I would honestly do it again. The drive was NOT that bad at all. Now to get started on our PTR for our late January trip for just me and Liz. Thank you all for reading, and stay tuned for our further adventures!
Brent
