Taggin' Along Compliments of Disney! - Page 20 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

What the heck is going on in my State? Wasn't it last week or the week before that the crazy guy grabbed hostages at the Discovery Channel building. People are just going nuts. I think all the exposure that others get on TV has a lot to do with it.
Who would've thought this would happen here, I mean, we are a relativly small, quiet State.

I forgot to mention about the picture at BC. While we were there for dinner at CMC, there was a PP photographer just outside, on the walkway in front of the beach. Peter and I had our picture taken there & I love it!!! I have it framed in our den. So, good luck getting the picture of you & Hope taken there!!!
Sounds like things are under control with the packing.
That's so crazy about the gunman at the hospital. I've had two somewhat close calls with similar situations - the first was the day after I had a dr appt with my diabetes dr and a guy went into the pharmacy in the same building with a gun demanding drugs and the other happened the day after an OB appt where a man shot and killed his ex in the parking lot I park in. Crazy world!
Less than a week to go! I bet you're super excited! All this talk of matching shirts reminds me of the game I like to play while waiting in line: 1 point for each member of a group wearing matching Disney shirts, -1pt for each member of a group wearing matching NON Disney shirts, 2pts for Bride and Groom ears, 1pt for First Visit Buttons, -1pt for Celebration buttons (everyone seems to be celebrating something), 5pts for an adult wearing kids sized ears, 5pts for men wearing princess items, 2pts for a pirate's league get up, -2pts for a BBB victim. Feel free to make up your own rules, but its a great way to pass the time! Person with the most points at the end of the queue gets to decide where they sit first or who they ride with!

You were one of the first people that popped in my head when I heard about the shooter @ JH. I found out about it pretty early on as I have a friend whose daughter had surgery there yesterday & she called family members and told them she was under lockdown due to what had happened. I turned on CNN to find out more. Very scary & sad. I, too, thought of the GA episode. Thank God it wasn't any worse than it was.
On to a much brighter subject......you are getting so close now.....you can actually say "this time next week...." You are so lucky to be going to WDW for a girls only trip!!!! I so wish my Mom (& Dad) would go with us someday. Have fun packing!!!
I'm glad your friends daughter was okay. I would have been flipping out if my daughter had been in there!!! I know...this time next week I'll be at MK!!!

Height does make people think older, but I would think for Hope maybe 2 year old, but not 3! Oh well, some people are clueless! Sam is a tall string bean, I bought 2T pants for fall/winter, washed them and put them on to find that they seem to just be long enough, ahhh! That means I have to go buy more because you know after a while you won't be able to find long pants or any sizes, so now I am stocking up on 3T too! Toddler clothes shopping is frustrating!
You are almost there, I love when the packing can actually start! Do you roll things in the suitcase to prevent wrinkles or do you just fold?
The news did like three updates on the story as I was updating my TR and I couldn't keep up with them. As much as I love shopping for Hope...it's my new favorite thing to do...I hate trying to figure out her sizes. So frustrating! You know, I've done the rolling thing once, and it didn't work out too well for me. So I just put all of my shirts on the very top of everythign else so they are flattened by the top of the suitcase when I close it. Not very professional but it works I guess.

Less than a week to go! AWESOME! Keep trying for Cape May that would be fun.
I wish this stuff only happened on tv! I'm definitely going to try my hardest to enjoy that character breakfast somehow.

I am gathering things in a basket in my closet...eventually they will be thrown into the suitcase and then I will rearrange LOL
So glad things are coming along
OMG about the shooter! that is so sad and disturbing all at the same time! There's multiple versions of the story....I wonder which one is right??
That's a great idea to have a gathering basket just for vacation packing! I might steal that for next time. Right now I just throw it in the suitcase to rearrange later, but I like your idea better!

But on a good note...only one more week. YEAH!
It honestly doesn't surprise me that it happened in Baltimore, it does surprise me that it happened at Johns Hopkins...wow! Our state may be small, but our city is so crime ridden it's ridiculous.

I read that somewhere, but I was just going to walk around aimlessly outside until I saw someone. Thanks for the exact location.

Wow!!! Those were some close calls. That's a little to close to home if you ask me. Yes, it's a very very crazy place we live in! I will have fun and you have fun delivering that baby!

I am so excited. I just don't want it to go by so fast. Easier said than done right? I love your little game...too cute! I guess I'll be helping someone get 3 points.

Yes, that is the right story. The gunman shot himself and his mom, and they both died, but the doctor is doing fine. If the photographer isn't at the BC, I'll just get one of us together at the parks...we'll make it work. :D
How scary at Hopkins. Tons o pixies for the doctor that he has a speedy recovery. How insane though that the man shot the doctor, his own mother, and then himself. How scary for everyone else on that floor too and the hospital being on lockdown.
On a brighter note at least you'll be in Disney soon. I know you don't want those days to fly by, but at least it's a happy place.
