Another August Adventure: Fun, Family, Friends and Firsts - COMPLETED 11/2 with Final Thoughts! - Page 20 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Meg, great updates. How magical Angel got to be Princess of the Day. She lookeed beautiful. So sorry to eear about the horrndous wait at CRT, and the food wasn't all that great, especially your pork chop being under cooked. Gla to hear the experience, the Princesses, & Chef made up for it. So sorry to hear you all ot soaked, but at least waits were non-existent for you. Love all o the pictures. Don't worry about not loving SGE. My mom didn't care for the ride either(expecially the scents), so I'll take er word for it and we won't ride it(although I love Stitch himself). More please Meg!
The wait was not as bad as what others seemed to have so it wasn't that bad but the crowds, i don't know what the hang up was but I was truly expecting to see all the tables full when we went upstairs. All I could figure is that we got there just in time as a whole bunch of tables were eating so by the time they cleared them out and reset them it took some time. All in all is what a good meal and my SIL was so happy to eat in the castle. Definitely a good start to the trip.

Sorry about the long wait at CRT. I'm still contemplating whether we want to eat there on one of our trips. I like your rating system and food commentary.
Sorry you didn't get to meet up with Liz, Brent and Mindy...but don't you love it when 'following a feeling' turns out to be a good idea?
I think Angel would have ride partners for the Teacups with Kelley and Cory. They love to spin.
Hope your early morning at Epcot works out!
When I look at the pictures Cathy she does look so grown up to me, then I see her in her class and she is the second smallest so that makes me feel a little better
I am really glad we stayed I think I would have "what ifed" my decision has we headed back because of the weather and the lines...well it was like having a park to ourselves so I was really surprised when the buses were so packed, I had no idea where all these people were
Angel would love having some spinning partners on the teacups, I really hope our trips overlap one day as I know they would have a ball together.
How sweet. Princess of the day! She looks so lovley too. You take great pics with your camera, and your sig pic is just beautiful.
Sorry your dinner in the castle was so-so. They must have changed it from last year, we had dinner with the fairy godmother and the mice. That was perfect for us, as my daughter Josie was all about the mice
Good choice hanging around and getting some rides in, I myself can not stand Stitch's Escape. Good for you for still going on it
What a great day Meg! Love the pictures of Angel all dressed up! How great she got to be Princess of the Day! Sorry about the wait at CRT, but sounds like it was definitely worth it! More please!

You are really making me wish we'd stuck around MK for EMH; but we were just completely soaked and probably wouldn't have been very comfortable walking around in soggy clothes all evening. You sure did get a lot accomplished, though!
But, of course she is Princess Of The Day! And, as this picture shows:
Angel Of The Year! I think the light coming in from the window behind, and the smile that is her whole face, shows just how special this Angel really is!
It's good that the negatives did not out weigh the positives at CRT, and you came away with a great experience, after all. I am simply amazed at the personal attention the chefs give to special requests! I did not know about that till I read these TRs... yours and others.
I CANNOT do the teacups! Spinning while I'm spinning does not do my stomach any good at all!!
Glad to see a little Florida rain did not dampen the spirit of the first full day in The Kingdom!
Great updates, Meg! Luv that Soarin'!!
Wow, you guys really hit the ground running! Love the pics of Angel as Princess of the Day. I am sorry about the wait at CRT but glad you enjoyed the magical setting for your first, real dinner of the trip. Guess the rain deluge worked in your favor a bit; you did quite a bit at EMH.

I think the change happened close to the start of the year from what I gather. Last time we went it was still teh FG at dinner. I remember hearing about some changes going on and then reading someone's recent TR (and I forget whose it was) who said they went for dinner and the princesses were there so whenever the change was it had to be pretty recent.

It was definitely worth it, I think the best part was not only did we have an enjoyable meal with some princesses but we stayed dry What was going on outside the window was not a pretty site. I truly give it all those people who stood waiting to see if the parade would happen and even after it got rained out they held out for Wishes. But then again this is coming from a person who dragged everyone into the MK last year during a monsoon type rain as everyone was running out because I knew that it would stop in time for Spectro and I was going to see it on our last night no matter what the weather...LOL

If we had been outside during the whole storm I would have head back as well, I think we just lucked out being in the CRT for most of the storm, while it was still pretty rainy when we got out at least we were starting off dry for EMH instead of starting them off in already wet clothes.

Thanks Kenny...I loved how the pictures from the BBB came out. I can't wait to get the CD as they got some great shots as well. No dampened spirits here, when we talked about the trip at the airport going home everyone agreed that staying that night was the right decision, wet or not we had a great time and it really put us all in a wonderful mood for our first full park day the next day.

I guess my little prince will have to do through.
And waht an adorable little prince you do have There was a little boy at the BBB who had just had his hair done and he was the cutest thing. The pirate league also looks like great fun, there were a couple of boys in the store after I guess they had finished up and there was a set of three borthers I guess...just adorable.
Hmmm I will be sure to be prepared for those Floridian down pours! Especially since I'll be going next year around the same time. You guys got some of my favorites out the way! And CRT sounds like it's a toss up. I do want to take my little princess though. Anxious to hear the rest of your trip.

How cool that Angel was the princess of the day - I didn't know they did that! I had the same meal at CRT - loved the squash, but I was not a fan of my chop either - it was okay, nothing special though. Can't wait to hear about your Epcot day!

That is just such a wonderful experience at BBB!!! I love her pictures! You really did an amazing job with the siggie pic You know I would totally love to dress up like a princess still if they let adults do it too LOL Belle is my fave too and you can tell she is angel's fave by the pic of her and belle together We had CRT for breakfast both times i've eaten there. I would have to say it is always very unorganized but the breakfast is just amazingly good
When it rained last year for us we had the whole park to ourselves too...isnt it an amazing feeling to really be one of the few there taking it all in???
Sounded like a wonderful day all around!

Even with the wait and the food not being anything special I would still do it. We had already done the castle at lunch, my girls had a wonderful time and I was content. I knew this was something that my SIL would love and it was worth seeing her enjoyment and it was not like we did not enjoy our meal, I think everyone came away with something that stood out for them. My only complaint is that for a meal that is so popular that they just get better organized. I would definitely do it for your little princess, it will be a special memory for her and for you.

Sometimes I think it is those rainy times that one can be the most productive...LOL. Even with the rain there were still a lot of people, I knew that they had cancelled the parade but I was really surprised how many people were still waiting for the fireworks, because it was not just a sprinkle, it was really coming down. But you know I think it is those memories, the ones that were not "picture perfect" plans that end up being the ones that are the most perfect.

The squash was really good and so was that relish that came with it. Even the portion of the pork that I ate was good. I am sure that it was cooked fine I am just really particular about cooking my pork well so I think it just set me off a bit.

The girls are still talking about that night, funny that I was really happy that so many of our plans actually fell together once we got there but it was a rainy, throw off our schedule night that ended up being one of the most fun.

Angel loves her Tinkerbell but out of all the princesses she has always been a Belle fan. I have always loved Belle as well, she was smart, independent and followed her own drummer and I have always loved her dress.
