Go your own way - Decade of Dreams - UPDATED 6/24 - COMPLETE!! - Page 20 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Great update and wonderful pictures. The ones of the sunset were breathtaking and I love the firworks photos with the Eiffel Tower illuminated in the firwork lights.
Glad you had great company for dinner...we also find the Rose & Crown to have a very limited menu, like you Jasmine does not have many choices as she is not a fish & chips person but she really did enjoy the curry and I loved the marinated chicken but it would be nice if they expanded th menu a bit more.
I am sure you were both tuckered out but too excited to sleep (poor Wendy, I know the feeling when you first feel that migraine setting in, and of course no one wants to feel that at Disney).

I was quite impressed when I woke up and it was 5.10, that was almost eight hours sleep. I had woken up at 2.10 and realised that it would be 7.10 at home, but fortunately, I had gone back to sleep again, which was a relief.
We were quickly up and waited for it to get a bit lighter outside before heading down to the quiet pool. We could see that there was no-one n it and it was a perfect time to get in there. It was just warm enough outside and to have the pool to ourselves was a real treat. We did a fair bit of swimming and then sat in the hot tub for 15 minutes, before heading back to the room, where I grabbed a shower and washed my hair.
Then it was off to the concierge lounge. Although we had breakfast booked at Cinderella’s Royal Table, I was pretty hungry and desperate for a cup of tea. They had a great selection of fruit and the pineapple, in particular, was wonderful. We both had huge plates of fruit and I got my tea and then we were set.
Outside the concierge lounge
We went back to the room and called bell services and they were there pretty quickly. The guy we had was so sweet and he was perfect for Disney. It was clear that he loved working here and was so friendly. The cases gone, we went back down by the quiet pool and walked out that way, getting some photos on the way.
It was so nice just to be able to take our time and not have to rush anywhere. By the way, I had already been in text contact with Mark this morning and it was so nice to have that contact with him, as it made me feel closer to him.
We took a quick look in the resort shop and I got a couple of fridge magnets.
Then we headed out to get the bus. I must admit not usually getting buses on Disney property, I was worried about how they would be and we stood for a couple of minutes, when Wendy said “shall we just get a cab?” I said we should just give it another couple of minutes and the bus must’ve heard me, because the next bus along was to the Magic Kingdom.
As the BoardWalk was the first stop, we got on fine and got a seat. I have to say that it’s probably just as well we weren’t going to be taking the bus from the BoardWalk again, as I’m sorry, but that whole business of sharing with so many other resorts just drives me crazy. It’s why we never use the bus at the Beach Club, as it’s the last stop and all too often, you can’t get on the thing. I wish Disney would look into this and do something to improve it.
The journey wasn’t too bad, apart from the screaming kid towards the end of the ride. We got there at the right time, just as the rope drop ceremony was starting. I don’t think I have ever seen it before and it was really neat.
Once they let us in, we headed up Main Street, stopping for a Photopass picture or two along the way.
At the hub, we found a neat machine blowing bubbles…
We also found some more Photopass photographers by the Mickey and Minnie topiaries:
Lovely start to the day. I'm very impressed with your ability to sleep until beyond five. I'm usually up at two on the first morning, regardless of when I go to bed.
I can't add too much to this installment, except that we did have such a lovely stay at the Boardwalk, such a nice time of swimming and thank goodness for the hot tub as I was getting chilled. I love early morning, and with Chez still on UK time(the entire week!), we got along like peas and carrots. I couldn't have asked for a better roommate. Seriously better than even my kids!!
I didn't take many photos(only 469) and I went 2.5 days without taking a single one on my camera. However I am in the process of uploading them to Facebook if y'all are interested!
I was so, so pleased to have gotten there for opening ceremony. Chez loves Illuminations, but I love the opening ceremony at MK and I was in tears, I was so happy to be there with my best bud, in my happy place. It was--------MAGICAL!
I loved that bubble machine and it was such a nice addiction.
Your pictures of Illuminations were just beautiful Cheryl!!! So nice that you got to have dinner with Amy. I always have such trouble falling asleep my first night at WDW. Hope you slept better the rest of the trip.

Looks like a good morning. Sounds like you made good use of the concierge lounge before leaving. I'm sure the "Rope Drop" was a lot of fun! I think that would great to see.
I'm interested in your pictures Wendy... as I am sure everyone else is, too! But... well... only 469? I guess that's not many by today's digital standards, but it still sounds like a lot to me!

It's childs play compared to Chez! I did take several with her camera though. I do have a few that I'll share, but they are towards the end of the stay. They're kind of neat looking.
My memory is shot, but I think I said I was going to work on posting them on Facebook. I've got a good start and you guys can find me on there. Wendy Braddick(don't mind sharing my name as it's been on here before!).
I'm so enjoying reading all about your start to your joint trip - although you had lonely beginnings - now you've got plenty of friends to keep you from feeling lonesome!
