Dream of Lifetime TR Sept 23-Oct 5 **COMPLETE!! 9/14** - Page 20 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Day 11 Oct 3 I forgot to post in my last thread about something that happen. On Monday when we went to DVC Shayne stay at the room because he wasn’t feeling good. We thought it was just from being tired. Well as the week progressed he was complaining of a sore throat. Thursday before we left the MK we stopped by first aid. The nurse gave him some sore throat drops but that was all she could give him. He said they seemed to help some. By Friday it had not got better but worst. We headed over to Epcot to future world we had lunch at Coral Reef at 12:00pm We headed over to Soarin because we had fast passes from our DVC tour. Only to find out they expire the day before. Another thing Bruce left out to tell us. We end up getting regular fastpasses. We shopped around before lunch. Shayne was getting cranky as the day went on complaining about his throat.
When we finished our lunch we headed out. My mom end up calling my grandma to get our doctors phone number. My dad called & told them the story about how we were on vacation & gave them the symptoms. The receptionist said that she would talk to the doctor & call back. While we were waiting we decided to head over to Soarin to use our fastpass.
They called back to say that they we send in a prescription so we had to find a pharmacy. My parents headed over to First Aid to find a pharmacy that would deliver. Shayne & I decided to head over to Figment Ride & spend sometime there. We meet up with my parents and decided to head over to Figment again. It was a great time. They had gotten everything straighten out with the pharmacy to deliver to at the hotel & we continue on to explore more of future world. We decide to ride Test Track & that was about it for the day.
On the way out we decided to hit Spaceship Earth & absolutely love the end photos.
By this time we were ready to head out. We made our way to the monorail. We were standing there in line. Shayne walked away & came back. He had asked if our family could ride up front. They ask how many & sent us to stand up front. I was so excited & now I am really glad that I could experience that since I don’t think they will be doing that for a long time.
We stopped & pickup Shayne prescription. My mom asked about paying for it & the said that we pay for it when we checked out. Keep this in mind for future post. We headed back to the room drop of our stuff & headed down to Capt. Cooks for something to eat.
It was a relaxing evening at the hotel for us.
Up Next: Our traditional Breakfast & a change of plans.
Traditionally we always have breakfast at Chef Mickey’s on our departure morning and head over to MK for a bit. Since we add an extra day & our flight was late morning. We decided to just keep our breakfast the way it was. We headed over to our breakfast & had a nice time with the characters.
After breakfast we had a little bit of time before our DVC tour. We headed out to get out getting some pictures. We usually do a picture with the Mickey ears there.
We headed inside so that we could check in for our flight & get our boarding pass. We had a nice chat with the CM at the Contemporary desk. We got our boarding passes. All of the family had got A’s. I got a B. We then headed out to front to meet the DVC bus to take us back over to tour area. When we got there we told them we had an appointment. She looked us up & said that Bruce was our salesperson. We told them that we wanted to see someone else & that when we made the appointment we request someone else. A few minutes later Brad Smith came out to greet us. He took us back to one of the rooms. We started to talk and we told him about our encounter the other day. He could believe it. He started going over stuff with us & was surprise how much Bruce didn’t go over with us or tell us. He explained everything so that we would get all of the info. Ask us if we like to tour the models again. My parents at first said no but since Shayne didn’t come to the first one we decided to at least see the different rooms. Well after seeing the models. We went back to the meeting room. My parents had pretty much decided that they would do it. Brad headed upstairs to run some numbers for us. We went outside for a little bit for fresh air. When we came back in they back to the room I had to make a stop & when I went in they were just getting everything settled. Brad went to get the final paper work. After he left they told me, we are going to be the proud owners of BLT for 250 points. I was so excited. We sign all the paper work & headed over to get our first DVC family picture. We went outside to meet the van which took us over to DTD.
Since it was a lot cooler at home then when left we decided to get some warmer clothes. My mom & I headed into World of Disney to clothes. My dad & Shayne went to the pin place. After we were done we headed over to the toy store because my dad wanted a R2D2 robot. We had made plan with Shayne to keep my dad distracted so that we could get there. We headed in got the robot shipped out & made our way out. We got to a bench & call them to tell them we were done & where we were. We were so glad of Shayne’s help. We decide to head over to EOS to get stuff to take back to our hotel & head to the bus stop. We stopped at the store to pick up package that we sent back to the room. We went over by the pool area & had some lunch.
We decided to take a rest. None of us really felt like heading over MK.
After our rest we decided to do the laundry so that we could pack later. My mom & I headed over to do laundry.
My dad & Shayne went swimming. After laundry we changed & headed over to Ohana’s for some dinner. It was okay but we probably won’t hit it every year.
We got to see the fireworks from our table while we where eating. It was a perfect ending to our night. We headed back to the room to begin the packing up. My mom & I had walked down later to see about getting a box to send stuff home with. We also made arrangements for them to pick up our luggage in the morning at 7:30am. DME was picking us up at 8:30. We crawled into bed about 1am. It was a great full day for us.
Day 13 Oct 5 We had got our DME paperwork a couple of days ago with a departure time of 8:30am. We got up & got ready to depart pack all the last minute things. We had decided to set up the luggage pick up for 7:30am.
We waited & waited no one came; my mom & I decide to walk down to check us out.
We got down there & got in line. My dad called 15min later & they still hadn’t been there yet to pick up our luggage. My mom & I went to bellhop to see when they are heading there. They told us that we were never put on the list for today. They sent someone up right away. We finally get to the check out desk & get that taken care of. My mom asks about the prescription & they said it was taken care of. She tells them that we are suppose to pay for it when check out. The lady at the desk checks & finds out they put on my credit card. Here the other day when we sent a box home I used my check card. They put that card on file for us. Well that won’t have been a problem except I bought my dad’s robot the day before. I wasn’t sure if I had enough money in there to cover it. While my mom & I were discussing this the CM overheard. She said she could take it off my card & put on my mom’s. Ok that would help & she even put an extra $30 in case it made anything bounces, I was extremely grateful for this. We did thank her over & over for doing this for us. We walk outside to get some fresh air. My dad called to say they are on the way over. We head up front to wait for the DME. We were hoping to get breakfast before heading out but with bellhop forgetting us no such luck.
The DME arrived & we headed out. Our bus driver was from an area not to far from where we lived & actually knew the town we were from. He was very funny. We had a no eventful flight home. It was unusual to fly home at that time because we normally take night flights.
13 days at Disney & late morning flight=THIS PICTURE :-)
