Saving the Magic (with Cam and Luke plus Morgan) COMPLETED - Page 20 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I'm glad you had Morgan with you. It's great her first flight was a good one! I love her expressions on seeing the room. It looks amazing and i just love the views!
Love the scrapbooking room! You are as organized as I WANT to be!

you find the camera cord! I had to buy a cord that can read multiple different cards because my computer wouldn't recognize a memory card over 2G. Just something to consider if you have to get a new one. I found it at Wal-Mart.
I feel the SAME way about the toys that have overtaken my house and seem to multiply everynight
I describe my organizational style as ...organized chaos.
So glad that you found your camera cord! When things go missing around my house, I've learned to "toss" the boys' room because it usually winds up there. I couldn't find my cell phone charger...I looked in the boys room and finally found it. The older two were using it as a tie because they'd "arrested" Hans Solo and tied him to the bed leg.

Glad you found your cable!! Can't wait to see pics of the painting and the floors! You are a wonderful organizer - and you could teach classes (and I have a husband I need to enroll right away - how much?)
I read your post to Luke. He said unfortunately my organizational skills to not transfer to husbands. I guess, he should know since he will have been married to me for 31 years in a week and a half. I bought him a Sears Craftsman tool box, the big kind, for Christmas about 10 years ago. With all the projects we've done, I've discovered that the screwdriver set and other tools are not in the chest, but scattered all over the place. Oh well, I tried.

I can find ways to get Disney into every nook and cranny. And if it's not Disney it's a lot like Animal Kingdom.

I don't know why it took me the first seven years in this house before I realized we never used the guest bedroom for guests, so I turned it into my scrapping domain.
Your scrapbooking room looks amazing. I love the colors and the bookcases and organizers look great. What a wonderful place to spend time in.
The room makes me feel calm and inspired to work.

I thought that photo was priceless. Once those flip flops were off she dashed from one area and thing to another.

I know I think I'm putting things in the first place I will think of later, but that hasn't proven true too many times.

Glad you found the cord that was hiding. I know some cameras take a special cable and can only be ordered from the company.
Can't wait to see your floors done.
scrapbook room looks good. Last night my mom was over and showed her some pages available on that site scrap your trip that you posted before. Think she will be looking at that site awhile
I'm trying to stay away from Scrap Your Trip until I've used up some of the stuff I've already bought from there. But I do love looking as they have such terrific supplies.

Now that sounds like fun! I've never been to Connecticut.

It was definitely satisfying last night. I was dancing round the house holding that cord.

Funny story! My mom's style was organized chaos. We had a huge two door metal storage cabinet in our basement growing up. All it contained were school and office supplies, but there was not order (unless my Dad or got fed up and fixed it). I would go down looking for a particular item and short of pulling everything out, I couldn't find whatever it was. I'd holler for Mom, she'd come down, reach inside, and magically withdraw whatever I had been looking for.
The walk to the bus stops was fine, but then we waited 25 minutes for a Magic Kingdom bus to arrive in which time I think Morgan became concerned. She asked me several times when the bus would get here, and was disappointed that neither Luke nor I knew exactly when.
How much longer, Uncle Luke?
Still waiting
Cam waiting
You really don’t know when the bus will get here???
Any time now!
Once a bus did arrive, it was another 22 minutes before we arrived at MK because of stops at the Swan and Dolphin. At this point I explained to Morgan that we had 3 things that must be taken care of before the fun could truly begin: 1. Tickets 2. Tables in Wonderland and 3. PhotPass Plus. So once we were through a fairly quick bag check, we headed to Guest Services.
Are we every getting into a park?
Due to transferring Stefanie’s Annual Pass to Morgan the tickets took quite a while. But the Tables in Wonderland purchase went quickly. The PhotoPass Plus would be taken care of inside the park. I am highly visual when it comes to directions, so by the time we’d gone through the gates I had forgotten the CM’s directions on PhotoPass Plus and Luke hadn’t heard them at all. Ugh!!! Thank goodness for more CMs. The first was confused by my question, but directed me to a group of four other CMs who sent me in the right direction. Once inside our purchase of the PP+ was taken care of rather quickly. The upgrade cost us $106 + change, twice what I was hoping since I had pre-ordered the regular PhotoPass CD. But I got it and proudly wore my lanyard. [Note: Now the PP+ can be pre-ordered on a line for a $30 savings. Wish they had made that retroactive.] Unfortunately, there was not any time for rides as it was now 6:00 and our dinner ADR for The Plaza was at 6:30. I’m pretty sure Morgan frowned at this point, and I didn’t blame her. Stefanie was used to the first day been rather slow and uneventful, but Morgan was at Disney and wanted to play. New plan: Get our first Main Street/Castle photo, but it had to be past that darn scrim jutting out into Main Street at the bakery. Not so easy as you’d think. The first photographer we saw was chatting with two big talking men who were NOT getting a photo. We waited five minutes and gave up. We moved to the next photographer, but just then the Move It, Shake It parade caused us to have to empty Main Street. L So another new plan: Luke would go to Space Mountain for FastPasses while Morgan and I watched the parade.
My favorite chipmunk, Chip
This guy on stilts gave Morgan a high five. She had been oohing and aahing all through the parade.
Stefanie loved Timon so I acted like paparazzi when he appeared on a float.
Next: A Close Encounter with Some Aliens and Not Alien Characters Question: Do we ever get that PhotoPass photo on Main Street with the Castle in the background?
Poor Morgan! She was probably thinking, "We're at Disney-- let's go!" At least she got to watch part of the parade before meal time.
(I didn't even think about Stefanie's annual pass-- another hurdle. )

I can't believe we missed you this night. While you were doing the ticket exchange we were in the Emporioum shopping for stuffed animals. I didn't realize until much later that the text explaining that never went through to you.
But I'm so glad you finally made it into a park!
Love the new floors! You have a beautiful home. I'd be itching to get to the play part of Disney too, but at least she got practically greeted with a parade! Can't wait to hear more.
Sorry the buses took so long, I know Morgan probably wanted to get the ball rolling and have some fun on her first day at WDW. At least she got to see some of the parade. Hope you get that castle shot soon.
Your floors and paint colors are beautiful, I love the color of your bedroom walls, it looks so warm and comfy.
