Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: What did you do with your wedding dress?

Never cleaned it, just put it back in the bag it came in and it's now in the back on my closet. I think about selling it or just giving it away but I'm just too lazy. I'm not that attached to it now like I was when I got married probably because I would pick out a totally different dress now

Re: What did you do with your wedding dress?

A dry cleaners here that specializes in preserving wedding dresses did mine-it's in a special box which is not supposed to be opened . Anyway- that was 23 years ago

Re: What did you do with your wedding dress?

Well, right after I wore my wedding dress on my wedding day- I found out I was a mommy to be and our finances were really tight. A friend of mine owned a consignment store and told me she could probably get me about 60% of what we paid for it. I asked my mom first, who completely understood thank god, and put it on consignment.

I figure it was money well spent- Kevin had everything he needed the day he arrived because of my dress. With Katie's disabilities, I don't think she'll marry and Emily, well, I can already tell she's the type who will have an opposite taste in clothes- so it was probably a good move. Re: What did you do with your wedding dress?

I had mine professionally "preserved" about three months after the wadding. It's in a box under my bed. The box has in inner box with blue acid free see through plastic wrap. It has a plastic body form in the torso, so when you look at it, it displays nice. The girls get it out every five years or so to look at it. My veil is in there too, and perhaps the garter or something. I can't remember.

My gown cost $500, and it was about $200 to have it preserved. I think I had it done somewhere in Northern Virginia. It was before I had Grace, and I think by the time it came back, I was pregnant with her. Married in November, pregnant in March, delivered in December.

Re: What did you do with your wedding dress?

Mine is hanging in my closet in a garment bag. It still looks good after 20 years ( come April 5th). My mother made it and had enough material left over to make DD Christening dress!

Re: What did you do with your wedding dress?

I never had mine cleaned! I just put it back in the original bag it came in. It now has a home in the guest bedroom closet! I am not sure what I will ever do with it. I know DD will never want to wear it...she will want something of her own and don't blame her.

Re: What did you do with your wedding dress?

My wedding dress cost $50 at Filene's Basement. I did not care if it got thrown away. I was married!!!! I had the pictures. My Mom insisted it had to be cleaned and preserved. (Which cost more than the dress BTW) To this day it is in her attic where it will stay until my daughter finds it for dress up!

I didn't do anything with my wedding dress. It's in a box in the closet.

Re: What did you do with your wedding dress?

My mother had my dress cleaned and preserved. It sat in her basement until last summer when she moved.
Now its taking up space in my bedroom closet.

Re: What did you do with your wedding dress?

Mine was cleaned at a dry cleaner that also put it in a box to be preserved. As far as I know it's still in a closet at my Mom's although she constantly complains about anything I left at her house when I moved out so who knows.

Re: What did you do with your wedding dress?

Mine is just back in it's original bag, and taking up space in my closet.

My headpiece and veil were made by my friend, and maid of honor, Denise. She hand sewed each of the pearls around the edges of the veiling. I think both of my sisters wore my veil with their dresses - and it's currently in a box in my closet as well - after spending about 12 years in my mom's closet!

Re: What did you do with your wedding dress?

My dress was cleaned and perserved. My Mom spent months making it and I really want to keep it. My daughter will never wear it, she is much larger than I was. My veil was also specially made and was absolutely beautiful. It has so far been in over a dozen weddings. I do hope my daughter uses it.

Re: What did you do with your wedding dress?

I was married 20 years ago and my dress was never cleaned. It's hanging in my closet with a big garbage bag draped over it to keep the dust off. Every once in a while I lift the plastic up to peek at it and laugh all over again about all the confetti that's stuck in behind the lace bodice and remember all the other places that I ended up finding confetti hiding when I took my gown off! I took a couple direct hits of confetti from a few guests! I know my daughter will never wear it because she's already 2 sizes larger than I was on my wedding day. And that's fine because I want her to have her very own dress for her wedding.

Re: What did you do with your wedding dress?

My wedding dress has spent the past 25 years in a closet at my parent's house. I never took it to the cleaners and don't plan on anyone else wearing it.
