As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: The Big Disney Birthday Bash Trip Report Updated 11/15 - The Birthday Bash trip finally begins.
Day 1 - Part 2: 'Rella's House!!!
When we arrived at Magic Kingdom around 7:00 p.m. my father went to a get a wheelchair for my mother (she has asceptic necrosis of both knees and is unable to handle the amount of walking necessary at WDW) and Jimmy, the girls and I went through the tunnel onto Main Street
Look 'Rella's House
and I was surprised to see that Main Street was already decorated for Christmas.
I don’t remember Main Street being decorated so early when we were there the same week in November of 1999. Molly was screaming and pointing at Cinderella’s Castle and yelling ‘Rella’s House Rella’s House!! It definitely brought a tear to my eye!! After taking in the sights we headed straight for The Haunted Mansion since it was closing for refurbishment the next day for the duration of our stay. There was only a 5 minute wait posted and it wasn't even that long. Since everyone wanted to go on the ride we decided to take Molly on too. I was a little nervous but Shannon had loved it at age 2 so I figured I’d give it a try. I figured if she got scared in the preshow one of us would just take her out. She was really funny, she never showed any emotion good or bad throughout the whole ride, she just looked around taking it all in. She wouldn’t even answer me when I asked her if she liked it. When it was over and we got out of our doombuggy, she looked up at me and said “again?” with a big smile!! I guess she liked it! After HM we headed over to Pirates of the Carribean at Katie’s request. Again, we walked right on this ride!! The park wasn't crowded at all! We all loved this ride and Molly again asked to go right back on when it was over!!
At this point (@8:15 p.m.) we were all hungry – I was starving since I hadn’t eaten anything all day except for a bag of peanuts on the airplane. We decided on Pecos Bill’s since it was pretty close to POTC and when we got there Spectromagic was still going by so Erin & Jimmy took Shannon, Katie & Molly outside to watch while my DF & I got the food.
The Girls watching Spectro
Eating at Pecos Bill's
My DF, DM & I got the chicken wrap, Shannon got a cheeseburger, Katie & Molly got the kid’s hot dog meal which Molly really loved because it was on a Mickey Mouse shaped plate. Erin didn’t want anything from Pecos Bill’s so she went out and got a turkey leg from a vendor. Spectro ended just as I put the food on the table – perfect!!!
After eating we headed towards the castle for Wishes which was scheduled for 9:00 p.m. We stopped in front of Crystal Palace to watch and since Shannon is finally over her fear of fireworks we got to watch Wishes as family instead of one of us having to literally run Shannon out of there while she screamed bloody murder!! When Shannon saw Tinkerbell flying from the castle she started jumping up and down screaming Tink, Tink which was really awesome because is getting to that “I’m a little too cool for all this stuff age” and it was great to see her forget her “coolness” and get really excited…ahh Disney Magic at work!! Molly kept clapping and yelling, she really loves fireworks. Katie enjoyed it but had to cover her ears because it was so loud. Wishes was, as always, wonderful and as always made me cry a little. I didn't take any pictures of Wishes because I was too busy enjoying my whole family finally watching a fireworks display together!
After Wishes, since the park was open until 10:00 p.m. Erin, Shannon, Katie, DM, DF & I decided to go on Haunted Mansion one more time and Jimmy took Molly for a walk because he thought one ride on Haunted Mansion was enough for her. When we got off Haunted Mansion the 2nd time the park was closing so I called Jimmy, who had Molly on Cinderella’s Carousel
Some pictures Jimmy took of Molly while the rest of us were on the Haunted Mansion
and we met up in front of the castle
The girls in front of the castle
and made our way to bus and went back to POR. The kids passed out immediately but I unpacked and got everything ready for the next day since we had an 8:20 ADR at Cinderella’s Royal Table!!!
I finally got to sleep around midnight but woke up every hour because I was worried about Molly on the trundle bed and I was also afraid that I would sleep past our wake up call and miss CRT!!
The Weather today was: Beautiful in both Philly and WDW – 74 degrees when we left PHL and low 80s in Orlando – high 60s at night.
Best Thing: Getting the chance to ride Haunted Mansion before it closed.
Worst Thing: Finding out that the screeners had gone through my suitcase and broken the soap which was all over everything!!
Most Magical Moment: Shannon forgetting her “coolness” and getting so excited when she saw Tink!
Next: Day 2/Part 1: My Princess meet THE Princesses
