As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Gatlinburg Trip 6/18- 6/25 DAY 4 Added
<font color="blue">Day 4 June 21
Dollywood and Kidfest
As every other day on this vacation I awoke before everyone else around 6:30 am. I had decided that I would make a nice breakfast for everyone so they wouldn't really want to snack at Dollywood. I made pancakes and sausage. Damon woke up shortly before breakfast was ready so he was in charge of waking everyone else up. We ate breakfast and Kevin checked out the weather. They were calling for high in the upper 80's with a 30% chance of thunderstorms. We decided to go for it because except for the other day, when it did rain it didn't last long. Thankfully it didn't rain at all while we were there and it was HOT!!!
After we had had our showers we pile into the van and head to Pigeon Forge. For those that don't know, there are 2 ways to the parking lot to Dollywood. The first one is clearly the way everyone who has never been there uses. We used the back entrance, which is only labeled for Dollywood Splashn' Country. We pay the $5 parking fee and find a spot right away. There is a tram already there so we pile in. The driver told us that from this point we are a mile from the entrance to Dollywood, we decide that at the end of the day we will take a tram rather than walking it. We had purchased tickets for the 3 older kids from AAA before we left Indiana, and Damon got in free because kevin and I had bought season passes and they sent us a coupon to get a kid in free during kidfest. I take a picture of the kids in front of the Dollywood sign and we head in. We grab maps and the first stop was Thunderhead, the wooden coaster. Hardly ever a line since it was off in the back by itself. We talked Damon into going on it. He is finally 48 inches so he can start riding BIG coasters. He wasn't real sure about it so he decided to ride with Kevin. Kevin informed me after the ride that Damon held onto his arm and squeezed the heck out of his hand. We headed over to find a smoking area and while we were there Damon decided he wanted to go on the Spongebob motion ride. This is the same one they had at Kings Island the last time we were there but Damon wasn't tall enough for the motion seats. He loved it. We had decided after that to just walk around a bit. When we were there in April we had stopped by the jewelry store to find out that the jewelers last name was Stinson, which from working on our family trees, Stinson was a surname on Kevin's side. So we decide to stop in there to see if he was in. He was and from the 2 of them talking they figured out that their grandfather's were cousins. We just kept saying "what a small world". The next stop was Tennessee Tornado, 3 loop rollercoaster, we couldn't talk Damon into riding this one, and we REALLY tried, but he said nope, he wasn't ready for the loops yet. I did get my 17 yr old daughter to ride it, and she is definitely not a coaster fanatic, but by the end of the day she had decided it was as much fun as we had been telling her. She even went back on it by herself. We then decided it was time for lunch and head to Red's Diner. All had hamburgers with fries. Damon and I got milkshakes. The total for the meal was about $60.00. After lunch the boys wanted to ride the raft ride. I got soaked, the boys hardly got wet at all. Funny how that always seems to work out, huh. I can't remember all we did and we hadn't figured on spending all day there, but we were there until they closed at 8. We head out to the parking lot. I do have a suggestion for Miss Dolly though. She should really rethink about the way her exit is set up. Everyone has to walk out through the Emporium, her gift shop and there is really only 1 straight way out, so instead of standing like a herd of cattle I went ALL the way around to get out. Then we notice the line for the trams. I know that we decided to ride the mile back to the van BUT after seeing the lines we decided a mile walk wasn't that bad after all. We all split up because the kids are still looking for license plates. Found a couple of new ones. We make it back to the van and out of the parking lot in no time. We get back to the chalet and grab and bite to eat and hit the hot tub and play some pool before calling it a night.
