As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

I love your trip report so far!! What a surprise for your DH!! I miss those robes, too. The GF is such a romantic place to stay- you just feel pampered. We stayed in Conch Key and loved it-we also enjoyed our meals at Narcoossee's. Glad that you were able to spend your first evening at the MK, though. Hurry back!!

Thank you. We call him Bedtime Woody to differentiate it from all the other Woody dolls. LOL

Re: Sheriff Robby in the Wild Wild World (Day 2 Part 1 Chef Mickey w/ pics 3/2)
Day 2 Part 1 Chef Mickey
When we last saw our Mouseketeers…they were all cuddled up in the lovely beds at the Grand Floridian, dreaming of carousels, ears and cowboys. Fast forward to 6am the next morning. There is nothing better than being able to just rest in bed without having to jump up and start your day! Especially when you have beautiful Florida sunshine streaming in.
Finally the grownups start to move in the direction of the bathroom. Bob decides to take a shower first and then I hopped in. Another luxury…taking a shower without a time limit. I usually take what I call maintenance showers…long enough to get ya clean but not long enough to really relax. Since I wasn’t worried about hot water, I decided to relax lol.
And then it hits us…here we are….in the Grand Floridian…our wedding rings still intact (although a bit more scratched)…wearing our comfy robes in front of our mirrors. Suddenly, the effects of having 2 kids, no sleep and 10 years of marriage drain away like the soap bubbles in the shower. Bob turns to me and gives me a huge hug. I’m afraid to breathe, not wanting the moment to end. The hug turns into a wedding ceremony kiss when we hear….
“Daddy….it’s the morning!”
Sure enough, my sleepy eyed son is beaming up at us! There is nothing to do but laugh!
I swear our kids have radar. We’ve often joked that we have no idea how we got enough time alone to have a second child!
(You didn’t think this was gonna be an entirely sappy romantic trip report did ya? Come on, we are human too.)
“Who is ready to meet Chef Mickey???!!!???”
That is all it takes to wake up Katie. Normally she is as much a sleeper as her brother is not. But this morning., the Disney magic whispers in her ear and rouses her from her sleep. Within a few minutes, she is begging to get dressed. Of course this never happens on a school day!!
When planning PS, I knew we would be at GF for this morning (giggle giggle) so I planned Chef Mickey as a monorail ride. Gotta take advantage of the monorail! So it’s off to the main building. Next stop…Contemporary!
I have never been to Chef Mickey’s so I wasn’t sure what to expect. With the entire hotel decked out in its Christmas attire, it felt much warmer than I’d previously thought it to be. We easily figured out where to go…the huge silverware was a huge tipoff!!
First character we see…is Goofy Santa! Goofy is one of Bob’s favorite characters! He loves the movies! He looks so cute in his beard.
Is anyone else amazed at how quickly a potentially shy child understands to grab that autograph book as soon as you see a character?
We finally get to our table. WE are starving…the kids are just excited. I smell coffee!!! As normal, we take turns getting food so one of us is always with the kids. You will see we did mostly breakfast PS for two reasons: it gets us up and out of the room and breakfast is my kids’ best meal. I seldom have to fight to get them to eat. The food was awesome!!! I loved those little hash rollups. I’m sure they aren’t the healthiest but hey we will be doing lots of walking right!
Robby is wearing his Birthday button! I realized that they were going to do something special for birthdays when I saw the characters dancing on the other side of the room…what I could see of them through all those pesky napkins swinging in the air that is! I couldn’t wait for Robby’s turn. Well it turns out neither could he.
As usually happens, the dear young man announces just as his father sits down to eat a lovely piled-up-to-here breakfast…I have to go to the bathroom. Ugh. So Bob tries to smile and puts down his fork to grab Robby’s hand. They are off. If you are a parent, you can probably see the next part coming…every character came to our table while this child is in the bathroom. Chef Mickey kept coming back…Katie giggles “Nope….he’s still not back yet!” I honestly think they got confused and went back to the POFQ where we stayed in 2002 to go to the bathroom. I keep looking at my watch…no male members of my family. Oh no…it’s the birthday song…still no Robby. You know how they “allocate” so much time for a section? Well, we used up a few allotments! Finally, they come back…Bob said they had to use a far away bathroom and Robby was slower than the syrup on his Mickey waffles. Needless to say, we did get a Chef Mickey picture. I’m sure it’s a good thing that smile is painted on.
I know it’s Chef Mickey but two of my favorite pictures are with Dale and Chip, who was very funny and animated during the “Where’s Robby” fiasco!
Next stop on the Monorail?? The front car…
