As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Nautical Nonsense - AKA Travel Agents in the World - Update 1/24
Guess we can tag team...it is about 10:45pm (Pacific Time) on the night before my flight...I am ALMOST packed (one load of laundry to go). Frank is working an overnight duty tonight, and has to wake up at 2:30am to start his morning download, and hopefully finish in time to leave work at around 4:30am, pick me up around 5ish, and make it to the airport by 5:30am. Then back to work for him. He will be surviving on sandwiches, frozen pizzas, and Chef Boyardee (and one frozen homemade lasagna) for the next couple of weeks.
This wasn't mentioned in the pre-trip report, but I will be flying from Orlando to Chattanooga (via Delta through Atlanta...yes, I am nuts!) on the 31st, and visiting my parents (last I saw my mom was for my birthday in November, and the last time I saw my dad was last June) for a few days, before coming back home to California, so I will be gone a total of almost two weeks. However, Frank and I are used to the separation (LOL, the Navy makes you get used to it very quickly! ), and he has vowed to clean the house from top to bottom while I am gone. (And I certainly will not argue with him to do otherwise! Would anyone like to place a bet to see if it actually gets done??)
Gregory from Quicksilver gave me a call this morning to confirm our towncars, and mentioned that he was concerned that Jeannine will not pay the one million dollar fee for her towncar. I explained to him that she would prefer to pay in Russian rubels, and he said that would be fine. When I mentioned this to Jeannine, she said that she would actually prefer to pay in Monopoly money, but I would imagine that it would take several sets of Monopoly money to equal a million dollars. Maybe she just needs a hobby.
I then received a slightly frantic (or maybe, just really cold) phone call from Kristin (lkmom), who was concerned about the weather (since Boston's airport was closed over the weekend due to the snow), and arranged to get her family on an earlier flight, and would be arriving in WDW on the 25th, about an hour before MY flight was to land. Hooray!
(By the way, for those of you in the frozen tundra of the northeast, I have been wearing shorts and flip flops for the past week here in San Diego. I love snow...I love my shorts even better. I don't know how you guys do it!) However, that did mean scrambling for a room, and she decided she'd like Pop Century. I stayed on the phone with Kristin, while I IM'd Jeannine to see if she could call (in case Pop wasn't available, it would be a lot easier for me to just be on the phone with Kristin to tell her her options), and five minutes later, she was booked. (How's that for teamwork?) We decided to meet up for dinner Tuesday night.
Just heard the dryer buzz...be right back.
So, where was I? Oh yes, no sooner that we had Kristin taken care of, but my phone cut off. Long story short, it was the fault of the guys working on the pool remodel, and I was cut off from cable, internet, AND telephone for several hours. NOT fun.
After taking some breaks for Wheel of Fortune and the Bachelorette, and to giggle with Maureen on the phone (hey, there are priorities in life!), and managing to fit all of my stuff into less luggage than I thought (I'm not bringing the suitcase that holds a small child, Jeannine!! ), not counting a few things that still haven't made it out of the dryer yet, I have about an hour's worth of emailing to do (I probably should be sleeping right now - since it is almost 3am EST and I WAS trying to prevent jet lag - but who can sleep the night before a trip?!), must eat something (it has been over two hours since my last feeding) and then off for a couple of hours of sleep. Hopefully, the first flight won't be that full (how many people could want to fly from San Diego to Albuquerque on a Tuesday morning?), and the connecting flight won't be either (how many people could want to fly from Albuquerque to Orlando on a Tuesday morning?) so I can catch some Zzzzz's. (Or hopefully they are full, so I am forced to stay awake so that I can sleep Tuesday night!)
I am still missing a pair of khaki maternity pants....I can't find them anywhere. They are the kind with the kangaroo pouch in the front. Has anyone seen them??
Catch up with you guys in a couple of weeks!!

Re: Nautical Nonsense - AKA Travel Agents in the World - Update 1/24
Well, I guess it would be my turn to check in on this pre-trip report before I make my way down to Orlando.
Let's hope (fingers crossed) that I have taken care of all things necessary at this point. I am flying out tomorrow from LaGuardia to Orlando and should be docking at the Yacht Club by 3pm. This trip has an emotional side to it for me since unlike Courtney (who is forced to separate from her DH by the Navy) I have NEVER been away from Tommy since we met 9 yrs ago. Pretty lame, I know. Then to add salt to my wounds, this will be my very first time away from my little princess, Sydney. I hope Courtney packed the tissues cause there is going to be some crying. I can just see it now, the two of us in Disney, the hormonal pregnant one and the emotional wreck missing her family.
Now, when I started packing for this trip over the weekend (since I was snowed in), I was very happy with my tiny suitcase and carry-on. The carry-on is mainly for the gifts that I have for Courtney's little one due in June. Well, then I realized that since my suitcase was so small that I would need to use the carry-on for items *I* need for this trip so it would seem the gifts for my future niece or nephew would have to stay behind and I would ship them when I returned. This did not sit well with Courtney who insisted I just get a BIGGER suitcase (since her suitcases are the size of 2 small children). After some discussion (more like 2 hrs of bickering like siblings), I finally gave in and borrowed a bigger one from my mom. Now I am all set -- with my suitcase and my carry-on and YES, the presents for the baby in tow.
Now for things here at home. Refrigerator is stocked for both my children, um I mean hubby and the little one Not too much work stuff to do since Courtney and I will still be handling work stuff from Disney. So, last minute things on the list are to check-in with Maureen, check-in with Courtney and make sure she arrived safely, setup my DVR for the week of shows I am going to miss and to catch the Amazing Race -- OH! and quality time with my DH and DD. Oh yeah and I have to pack my payment for Gregory @ Quicksilver, I have to be careful carrying that kind of money around!
One last thing, I would like to make a request -- the weather man is predicting snow tonight into tomorrow morning here in NY. If my fellow passporters could spare some pixie dust for some good weather -- in the hopes that my flight has no delays.
Okay, that's it for now.....I am off to Disney!
