Christmas trip to Myrtle Beach
Where
Ocean Dunes Hotel
When
First week of December
Now, I neglected to mention that Richard was playing golf every morning. After all this was his golf trip. The first day I said oh, Honey you take the car, I am going to stay at the resort and have a massage or a pedicure or something. So, off he went. I went to the front desk and asked about the amenities.
In our brochure, that the nice young man who booked our ressies sent me, it said that they had a waterpark and massages etc. So, I was ready! Well, the front desk said that the Concierge was off that day, the waterpark was closed for the season, I thought that it was inside, it was outside! That they didn’t do massages there, but their sister resort next door did. So, off I went. Into the massage area, clearly marked on the door, I might add, and the man at the desk said, we don’t do that here. I showed him the brochure and he said, well, you have to call the number on the brochure and go there. Well, I was astounded! Me without a car!
I had remembered seeing a nail salon on the main road so I decided to walk the few blocks to the highway. It was very hot that day; the damn waterpark could have been open! I was sweating like a pig and got to the main road and walked in what I thought was the direction of the nail salon and walked and walked and finally turned up the first road and went back to the hotel. As I was walking in front of the hotel I noticed the waterpark, which was under construction. I was very disappointed and very hot. I went into the lobby and surprise the Concierge was there, I stopped to ask about massages and pedicures and she said that it was seasonal. She also said there was a nail salon just a short walk away. I told her i had taken that short walk and didn't find it. I walked to the beach and walked around on it for awhile, then I walked to the pool and spent some time sitting there reading and soaking my feet, wishing for a headset. Because the sign posted there said no radios allowed. I finally got up and went to the room and decided that I would try out the hot tub. It was open and no one was there so I sat on the edge and soaked my feet some more, longing for that pedicure. Then I went back to the room and Richard came back and we headed back off to Best Buy. On the way, I noticed the nail salon, in the other direction of the one that I had walked, oh well.
At Best Buy. the salespeople were extremely nice there and even let him go online to try to download the maps that he needed, but it didn’t work for some reason and I bought a portable CD with headset and we left. We had some time to kill so we stopped at Booksamillion and browsed for a while. I got some great new Burt’s bees hand cream and a couple of books. We headed off to the Parson’s table for dinner.
This was such a beautiful restaurant, you could definitely tell that it had once been a church. We started off with a cheese and cracker plate that is given to everyone. Then I had the She-crab soup and Richard had Mussels for our appetizers, then we both had the house salad, which was delicious. Then we had beef consommé to cleanse our palates. They also served us delicious homemade bread and rolls. Richard had the Baby back ribs and I had Veal and Shrimp Bombay with the wine paring. Then we had dessert, he had a Sundae and I had Chocolate Chip pecan pie, yum! Then we waddled to the car and went back to the hotel.
I went for a swim in the pool, indoor, and then we went to bed. Here is a photo of the Parson’s table and the menu.
Tomorrow: I’ll take you to the golf course myself!
