Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: I\'m teetering on the edge here you guys................

! We had a late night/ eary morning with "sickies", so we were sleeping in this AM, until 945 when 16yo announces that her boss called and wanted her to work at 10 (we live half an hour away ) So, she called and told her she'd be there as soon as she could which meant rushing the 8yo through b-fast (she hates that) and rousing the 6yo who was sick, so she was ugly about getting up. Then there's the hour there and back with the griping and complaining....if DD doesn't get her license *next* Tuesday, I'm going to officially

Re: I\'m teetering on the edge here you guys................

for everyone!! Sounds like a lot of us have had a rough morning!

Nothing too exciting here... I was up a lot last night feeling restless with contractions. They're still going, but I don't think they're going anywhere.

Re: I\'m teetering on the edge here you guys................

Oh Tara - I've been down that road and I guess I will go down it again! And Marnie, I have that same nasty cold and have been in bed for three days. DH drove the kids to school for me at least.

Tara - I swore if I survived the teen years with our oldest, I was going to be awarded a Purple Heart. And she's 23 now, so where's my purple heart???

We have a 13 and 12 year old coming into the teen years and I have marathon trained on how not to let what happened the first time happen again! Good luck and be tough.

Re: I\'m teetering on the edge here you guys................

Wow talk about a rough start. Since my dd is away at college my mornings are nice and quiet. I get up at 5:15am and ds (junior in high school) doesn't get up until 6:30am. I used to hate the turmoil in the morning. Not a good way to start the day. Tara I have you beat with the early suspension from school. Last year my son got suspended 2 weeks into the school year.

Luckily, my mornings are not quite like that . . . yet? (some days are hectic though).

Hope the day has gotten better for you!

Re: I\'m teetering on the edge here you guys................

LOL! Ours was a little better than that - but not much!!!

Last night was LOOOONG - I got to school at 7 am - and didn't get to leave till 7:10 (open house) - then drove 2 towns over to pick Jennie up from dance - hit the ATM to get cash for Amanda (she's in DC till Monday for a conference) and finally hit the house at 8 pm. Of course - nobody's even remotely ready for bed - I had to wash, brush read to Sarah & tuck her in - no food time for me.

Amanda was having a major meltdown over one of her friends - another long story - and hadn't even started packing - left her envelope with $200 cash on the desk - GRRRR - and wouldn't get off my computer. All the dishes and laundry were waiting for Mom, of course, and it all needs to be done NOW!

I finally gave up and went to bed at 10:30 pm - and the tone went off for a fatal moose accident in the Notch at 1:00 am - I finally gave up and got up at 2:15 am. Finished all the dishes & stuff - and checked the boards, of course! Amanda woke up and showered at 4 am - and finally agreed that Mom knew better - we found a wallet - and Sarah's old backpack for a carryon - ID's and cash are finally properly stowed - She agreed to use a real carryon sized suitcase instead of her school band garment bag (which is AWFUL!!! - and falling apart!) At least she's in much better spirits - or was - till Mom made her put a box of Triscuits in her backpack. Mind you - this is the kid who is vegetarian (but doesn't like veggies) - and is hovering on the edge of anorexia!

Her diet consists of apples and Reduced Fat Triscuits most days. Anyway - she finally gives in to the snacks, and we are off to meet up with the group at 4:45am. I'll drive down to the airport Monday am to pick her up!

Stopped & bought yesterday's paper - read it with a cup of much needed java before waking Jennie & Sarah. Remembered that there is no school for the kids tomorrow (NC staff day - I've gotta go to work!) Tried to get Sarah to go over her spelling words - OUCH!! She is in a world of hurt this week - she couldn't spell them to save her life!!

Got to work - and one of my guys (I only have 2 students in my main class - although they do have EH problems - both suspected bipolar) was having major tummy troubles. He couldn't even make it through his spelling quiz - and he LOVES spelling quizzes (He also has ODD!) We have no nurse on duty till 10 - so try to keep him stable till she gets there to send him home! All the kids were off the wall today!! I'm so glad to be home! Even got to come home early - I had to deliver a student to an away game bus by 2:30, so I got to leave!

Oh my goodness it sounds like quite a few people had a bad morning. Our morning wasn't as bad as that but DBF Allan had to fly to Scotland this morning and set the alarm for the time he was supposed to leave instead of the time he was supposed to wake up. He was rushing round like a headless chicken and I was trying to iron his shirt at 5.15am. He made it just before Check in closed, phheww!
