As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Ooh la la, our trip to Disneyland Paris updated day 1 part 2
Day 1 part 2
I started to unpack whilst Allan started work. The room was not particularly big it was smaller than the room that we had at The Newport Bay club (where we had stayed before) but I went into the bathroom and it was huge!! We had Mickey Mouse Toiletries all around the bathroom which I loved. I finished the unpacking and Allan was still working so I decided to switch the TV on. I started watching the information channel about the parks in German and figured they would get around to the English version so I would keep watching. Whilst waiting I fell asleep I must have been really tired, I woke up and Allan was still working and the TV was still showing the German version so I went back to sleep. When I woke up again Allan was on the bed next to me asleep, he had finished his work and didn't want to wake me up so he fell asleep as well. I looked at the clock and it was 6.30pm, it wasn't worth going to the parks now as we had a reservation at the California Grill for 8.00pm. I got up and had a bath and washed my hair and started to get dressed for dinner.
The CG at DLP is in the Disneyland Hotel and overlooks the Disneyland Park. At DLP they do not have PS like in WDW they take reservations like a normal restaurant. We left the Sequoia lodge about 7.40pm and walked to the Disneyland Hotel. It is a very pretty hotel it's pastel pink and is based on the GF hotel in WDW but on a much smaller scale. The Pink like the pink for the castle is a special shade – more on that later! After a bit of trouble finding an entrance, we walked up the grand staircase and then got into the lift to go up to (I think it was) the fourth floor. We checked in at the podium and the Maitre D' took our coats and put them in a closet. He showed us to our table which was next to a window. The restaurant looks very different to the Florida version I believe the only similarity really is the name. The restaurant is smaller and seems more intimate, it is decorated very differently as well, it has a very tradational European Victorian / Edwardian style with pastel pinks and white on the wallpaper. We got shown to a table which was near a small window overlooking the park if we leant forward we could see the castle as well .
Me starting the bottle of Champers.
The waiter asked us if we would like something to drink and we both ordered a glass of Champagne, I had pink and Allan had Brut. I love Champagne and this started a bit of an obsession for this holiday along the lines of Maureen's son Matthew and his Mickey Bars. The Menu looked really delicious I ordered shrimp in a very light batter with a herb salad and a pesto dressing, I can honestly say it was one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten whilst I was eating it I was raving about it. Allan ordered a vegetable starter and he really enjoyed it, the vegetables were cold (intentionally) not what he expected as some were prepared in a tempura batter but they were really tasty.
Allan enjoying a Champers too.
As you might expect, being France the wine list was extensive , ranging from about 30 Euro per bottle to over 1000 € per bottle Allan had ordered a good bottle of red wine for our main course but by the time the waiter brought it over for us to check, all of about one minute, “we” had changed “our” mind and ordered a bottle of Champagne instead. I think this was more my decision but Allan said he was really enjoying his glass of Champagne and was more than happy for us to have a bottle, I was in my element. Allan ordered my favourite brand which is Veuve Clicquot .
Then our main courses arrived, Allan had ordered pigeon which came with cous cous, I tasted it and it was really delicious , Allan was very very happy with his choice. I ordered filet medium rare, it came with spinach puree and with little potato pancakes filled with cheese, I have never had these before and they were so yummy, rich but yummy. At this point one of the waiters (the one that couldn't speak fluent English)came over to me and offered me something to put on my steak from a dish he was holding, I didn't understand his accent at all and thought that he was offering me parmesan cheese!!! and politely declined. He gave me a very confused look and walked off, I said to Allan I think I must have misunderstood what he said. Allan remembered the menu and said that he thought the waiter was offering me Bernaise sauce. Allan then asked another waiter to call the poor man back and ask if I could actually have some of the Bernaise sauce he was offering. The Second waiter dashed off and the sauce was returned to us buy the confused looking first waiter. Allan tried to explain that I had misunderstood but although we both speak basic French we didn't know how to go into the ins and outs of a misunderstanding so all three ended up us politely smiling and the waiter left still looking a bit confused. I'm sure they were laughing behind the scenes at the crazy english couple – Allan say's I'm paranoid !
On the next table to us were two mums and three little girls, the little girls were all under five, it was after 9.30pm at night and they were behaving beautifully even though they must have been tired. Allan and I commented to the Mums how well behaved their children were. We found out that they were originally from Tawian but now lived in Switzerland and their English was excellent. The little girls were absolutely adorable and the one nearest me keep smiling shyly at me, when I smiled back she got all embarrassed, she was so sweet.
Two waiters and a waitress came over and sang Happy Birthday to me in French and English and gave me a cake with candles to blow out (Allan ordered me a cake, how sweet!!!). The cake was huge, meringue on strawberry sorbet with a vanilla icecream base, it was topped with crème, jellied fruits and a huge shard of dark chocolate. Much as our eyes bulged there were only two of us, we asked the table next door if they would like some, they told us that they had just ordered some icecream but some cake to go with it would be lovely. We finished our cake and the two Mums thanked us very much and the little girls wished me Happy Birthday and waved on their way out of the restaurant.
"What do you mean that's just a slice?!"
We ordered espresso's to finish off our meal , I looked out of the window, the park was closed but they were testing some spotlights on the castle and it kept lighting up in different colours. Then it started sparkling like the castle does in Wishes. I have heard a rumour that they may be showing Wishes at DLP in the summer and if this is the case a flying visit is definitely in order.
I kept oohing at the castle it was sooo magical when it was sparkling. We finished our coffee and Allan payed the bill, it was pretty expensive I think it was about 240.00 Euros but we had such a wonderful meal with Champagne we couldn't really grumble to have that sort of meal in London would have probably cost double.
The Disneyland Hotel all dressed up for the evening.
We walked back to the Seqouia Lodge and probably got back to our room about midnight. We both agreed it had been a really lovely evening .
Next our first day at Disneyland Park.

So can I assume you had as many glasses as Matty had Mickey Bars? Now we're talking!
Sounds like a lovely time so far! I adore your pictures

That meal sounded pretty swanky. I do find it funny that pigeons are such a nuisance bird, yet they're considered a fine meal!
May I just say, that cake looks yummy!!
