As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Your education...
How many schools did you attend? One for Kindergarten, one for grades 1-5, one for 6-9, one for 10-12, plus college and finally another for grad school.
Who was your favourite teacher and why? I don't think I have any one favorite teacher. I can remember the names of every teacher I had from K-12 so they must have all made an impressin on me.
What was your favourite subject at school and why? Not Music!!! I liked all of my classes, except general music. Once again, I don't think I can pick anyone class as a fav.
Were your school days the best days of your life? Some were and some I would like to forget forever.
Did you go to University – if so which one and what did you study? I majored in Music Education and Music Performance. I received my Master's in Education in 1999.
Have you done any studying since leaving full time education? Yes - as a teacher you have to take so many credits every 5 years. We also get a "pay raise" for every 20 semester hours we take. Of course it costs more to take the classes then the raise we get, but I didn't become a teacher for the money.

Re: Your education...
How many schools did you attend? a total of five (four elementary schools because we moved all of the time and high school)
Who was your favourite teacher and why? Mr. Jenkins who taught English in high school. He was very passionate about the subject and made it interesting and alive. Of all the teachers in high school, he treated his students with the most respect.
What was your favourite subject at school and why? English because I love to read. Believe or not, I loved to diagram sentences in English class although I doubt I could do it now!
Were your school days the best days of your life? No, because I was terribly shy in school.
Did you go to University – if so which one and what did you study? I graduated from Hamline University in St. Paul, MN with a degree in psychology. I did it on the "nine year" plan though. I went for two years and then dropped out to marry my now ex-husband. I tried to go back part time twice but that didn't work. In 1989 after DD and I had moved back home, I went back to Hamline full time for two years and actually finished my degree when DD was 4 1/2 years old.
Have you done any studying since leaving full time education? No. It is too hard to be a single parent and raise a child and go to school full time. When DD graduates from HS next year, I may go back to get my masters in either education or psychology.

Re: Your education...
How many schools did you attend?5, 3 Elementary schools (1 for Kindergarten, another when we moved, and another when we were redistricted), a middle school and high school
Who was your favourite teacher and why? Mr. Glover, 8th grade History teacher. On the first day he handed out books, had us turn to the publisher's page and said
"that is the only page in that book that is 100% fact".
He came to school for a week dressed as a character in history and only answered to that character's name (the characters were Abe Lincoln, Tecomsah, Fredrich Douglas, Dolly Madison, and Sacaquia). And the most important he was the only teacher who treated me like I was Samantha and not "girl in wheelchair". He always said that if I started to feel like I couldn't be successful because I was crippled, I should remember FDR a crippled man who became the best president the US has had.
What was your favourite subject at school and why? history, Mr. Glover
Were your school days the best days of your life? no, I had sever health problems
Did you go to University – if so which one and what did you study? Ivy Tech History
Have you done any studying since leaving full time education? yes I read A LOT

Who was your favourite teacher and why? Probably my band teacher, Mr. Cosby since I had him for 7 years (middle-senior high). He was a fun guy and he didn't treat us as kids most of the time. He would have intelligent conversations with us.
What was your favourite subject at school and why? Band
Were your school days the best days of your life? Yeah.
Did you go to University – if so which one and what did you study? George Mason University (Decision Science and Management Information Systems)

Re: Your education...
How many schools did you attend?
I attended two elementary schools, they closed the one a block away from my house and I had to go to a different one for two years. Then I went to one middle school, one high school, and one University. So I guess that makes 5 total.
Who was your favourite teacher and why?
Tough one, I had several favorite teachers but the one I remeber the most was our Band director, Mr. Walker. He was just a great person and so kind, but definitely not an easy teacher.
What was your favourite subject at school and why?
I loved my english and literature classes. I just love to read and interpret what I read.
Were your school days the best days of your life?
The last two years of high school were fun and so were the last two years of college, but overall. I think the best days of my life occurred after college.
Did you go to University – if so which one and what did you study?
I attended Western Washington University and I have a BA in Human Services with minors in English and Sociology.
Have you done any studying since leaving full time education?
Nothing formal, but everything can be a learning experience.

Re: Your education...
How many schools did you attend? 4 -- Kindergarten, which was separate in the Dark Ages when I started out. , Elementary (1-6), Middle School (7-8) and High School (9-12).
Who was your favourite teacher and why? Mrs. Atkins, high school English Lit teacher, encouraged my love of writing and entered me into a Creative Writing contest.
What was your favourite subject at school and why? Two, actually. English and History which are somewhat unusual considering my eventual career path.
Were your school days the best days of your life? Not really as I was terribly shy in high school. College was much more fun but I agree with countless others who feel that today is the best part of our lives.
Did you go to University – if so which one and what did you study? Yes. Received a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Alabama.
Have you done any studying since leaving full time education? Yes, as a CPA I'm required to receive 40 hours CPE annually. I also teach Financial classes for the hospital system for which I'm employed and found that I love to teach!
