As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Donna meets Eddie Bauer, aka Dadtojbj and family!
So we rode drop zone (which I might add, is awesome!) and then headed towards some coasters but not before Sadie and Brittany spotted the Triple Twister Spin (equivalent to a spider or something like that). I had already ridden this particular ride twice (once with Krystal and once with Sadie)but since the girls wanted to go in it again, I took a deep breath along with Steve and Susan and we all piled on together. (Steve, was I just a wee bit green after we got off? )
For reasons unbeknownst to us adults, Brittany and Sadie REALLY loved that ride~ us "big kids" were getting greener and greener watching them go around and around and around and around and around.
I totally can't even remember the order of the rides we went on but 99% of them were of course, roller coasters! I think we pretty much hit all of them except for the one I truly wanted to ride, Volcano, which happened to be down that day. What?! Did they not know I was at Kings Dominion that day?? How rude!!
Ah well, we made up for it though on all the other coasters. Sadie mustered up nerve for one, the crazy mouse coaster type coaster called Ricochet. Me, Krystal, Sadie and Brittany all piled in one car and as expected, the adult in the bunch screamed the loudest ROTFLOL!!.
During the course of conversation with Steve, Sadie mentioned she wanted to ride the SWINGS! So, off we went.....me, Susan, Josh, Brittany and Sadie on the swings. Not my favorite ride in the book but I enjoyed it. And then came Steve's turn on the swings!
Susan bowed out on the second ride as well as me so Steve went (begrudingly but he went!). Almost as soon as the ride started Josh is up on the edge of his swing with his arms spread wide open being a typical daredevil kid so I made comment to Susan about her children's daredevil abilities. Ha!! Susan's response: "They got that from Steve, NOT ME!" One thing that did crack us up was Steve on the swings!! Susan said, "just look at him. "I can tell by the look on his face, Steve is just tolerating it and not havin' a good time" and sure enough, the ride ended and the kids were all but screaming for another round when up walked Steve with his hand on his stomach, " I shoulda sat that one out" ROTFLOL!!
That was a classic statement coming from Mr. Will Ride Anything, Anytime, Anywhere.
That should do ya'll for enough reading until after lunch time! Steve, feel free to jump in here anytime.

Re: Donna meets Eddie Bauer, aka Dadtojbj and family!
Ha, well ya'll got Donna's spin (literally and figuratively ) on the day so I'll just say a couple things:
The swings: Dang, not sure what happened but I'm blaming it on riding the Triple Spin too many times in a row and then hitting the swings right after. I'll admit to being green, but also the swings are more of a spin and puke ride rather than a thrill extreme ride like the coasters. Savvy readers will note that Donna left out that I went on Triple Spin again later AND the Scrambler - all of which Donna sat out! LOL. Oh yeah, and I was the ONLY adult that rode the log flume with the kids - yeah that water was really cold, but I did it!
The Drop Zone drool: You'd drool too after falling 305 feet straight down. Busted on that one.
The WL revelation: Yeah, busted there too - I'm married to a WL junkie who still loves the AKL but prefers the WL. I was going to say she told Donna that out of Southern hospitality, but thought you'd see through that!
The cut on my lip: I did cut my lip while chewing on ice after dinner - mild but yeah there was blood on that tissue. Okay a small amount but it WAS there!
The age factor: Well, come on now - didn't you think when you were 14 that someone who was 35 belonged in a nursing home already! HA!
Eddie Bauer: Yep, it's just about my entire wardrobe along with Old Navy and Gap. I had to buy an entire new set of clothes this year after losing 50 pounds last summer so I'll take the model comment as a compliment thank you! (You did mean it that way, right Donna? Just say yes. ) Anyway, just call me Eddie from now on.
All kidding aside, it was really nice to meet up with Donna and her family and I'm glad you let me know you guys were coming up and that we were able to meet ya'll. Her nieces were a ton of fun - Sadie and my daughter are like long lost best friends now - and her parents had me in stitches and I really enjoyed chatting with them while we watched the kids ride. We actually ALMOST got her mom on the Drop Zone even! They were a ton of fun and had some hysterical "been married for 45 years" stories to share. And Donna was, indeed, the thrill ride junkie she professed to be. Never would have guessed it, but she kept up the pace and rode every coaster - sorry the Volcano was down that day, but it gives ya an excuse to come back.
If anyone is hitting Kings Dominion this year let me know - we have season passes and we'd love to meet up with you too!
Thanks for posting this Donna - it was a fun day.

Re: Donna meets Eddie Bauer, aka Dadtojbj and family!
Sounds like a new reference we can use now. Does the drool go straight back from the corner of the mouth, or down the chin?
<font size="2" face="Comic Sans MS, Arial">Also glad to hear Susan is a WL fan. She sounds like a level headed, reasonable, rational, logical person. No jumping out of planes for her.

Re: Donna meets Eddie Bauer, aka Dadtojbj and family!
Eddie ( ), I'm ROTFLOL @ you...your rebuttal is classic! Yeah, I admit I sat out on a few rides but hey, I'm the thrill ride junkie and not the spin til ya puke junkie. I had already ridden the swings and Triple Spin twice so I figured you deserved a turn.
Drop Zone Drool...that in itself almost made me wet my pants laughing. There's nothing like hearing friends say they've drooled on themselves. Next time, I'll remember to pack a bib and depends.
And last but not least, the Eddie Bauer model comment: Umm, yeah I meant it as a compliment.
