As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears

Moving on with the current of the years.

Ever on with each rising sun.

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Thanks everyone for the comments! I've been so busy with work that I haven't had time to reply to each one. I'm so sorry. Between our faculty vs Middle School kickball game, FSA, field trips and other testing, it's been crazy. Not to mention Mike's store is getting remodeled so he's always at work these days, and going to school. This vacation is coming at the perfect time.
Funny story: On my FB timeline today, my memory showed up of us surprising Aiden with our family vacation this day last year! So, I took that as a sign to get my PTR in gear so I can get all my plans laid out. So where were we....oh yes....
Aiden's in for a surprise! So, my FIL and future MIL are keeping Aiden for the 2 nights that it will just be Mike and I. On Sunday the 19th, Aiden thinks they are just bringing him to us so we can begin the family vacation portion of our trip. What he doesn't know is that they are taking him to Magic Kingdom for their first time with him! So he's going to get an extra Disney day after all! We are giving them his Passholder magic band so he can get in. Then, that night, we are meeting them at Magic Kingdom for dinner. I'm jumping ahead of myself but thought I needed to tell that part first since FB memories reminded me of surprising Aiden.
Saturday- March 18th- We are getting up early to have breakfast at Kona Cafe, a first for us. We are getting up early because.....my anniversary gift to Mike is a Keys to the Kingdom tour! We can't wait! It's the perfect time to go because it will just be us and we won't have to worry about Aiden. We are going to a 9:30 tour so we should be done by 2:30 or so. We plan to hang out at MK all day and enjoy our favorite rides and my favorite park This is the park that Mike proposed to me at so it holds a special place in our hearts.
After we spend the day at MK, we will head back to the Poly to freshen up and get ready for dinner. Tonight we will be having dinner at the California Grill. Another first for us! I made reservations for the time the fireworks go off, so pixies that we get a window seat. After that, we'll probably monorail hop around and visit some of the other resorts, maybe grab a drink or two. And then we'll head back to the Poly. A nice way to end night 2, I think.
Coming up: Aiden arrives!! And dinner at Disney with family!!
A nice surprise for Aiden! You will enjoy the KTTK tour as I did this a few years ago and enjoyed it so much and is well worth it!

Everything sounds perfect! Ca Grill is so special - and even if you don't get a window seat - we didn't last time - our server held our dessert order so that we could go outside and watch the show. They do a great job with the timing of it.

Hey there! Hi There! Ho There! Sorry for the PTR delay! It's been insane here at home and school. With Spring Break looming, we've had so much to do to get the school and kids ready for the break and the upcoming tests that begin when they get back. But, enough of that because I have some.....
SINGLE DIGIT DANCING TO DO!!
8 days until I'm back to my happy place. And boy oh boy do I need it. I've never planned a trip while working at the same time (I feel like I mentioned that before) so this has been a bit of a different experience for me. But, anyway, without further ado....
Sunday, March 19th- Today is the day when our Aiden joins us. I'm excited to have the adult time but I am sure I'll be missing my baby by then. Mike and I will start our day with breakfast somewhere. We don't have an ADR set so maybe just something around the resort. We'll head over to EPCOT to enjoy the Flower and Garden Festival. We have plans to ride Soarin', Spaceship Earth and take a trip to Mars (and those are in no particular order). We'll take a walk around World Showcase and check out the pavilions and shows we don't normally get to see because Aiden won't sit through them. Although, he might now so maybe we'll see... And I'm sure I'll be sampling the various drinks and foods from around the world and festival. We have a lunch reservation for Teppan Edo, another first for us.
At some point in the afternoon we will get confirmation that Aiden's surprise day at Disney has been revealed to him and that they are having a great time. Later this day, Mike and I will head to MK to join everyone and have dinner at Liberty Tree. We'll hang out and watch the fireworks and then say our goodbyes. We'll head back to the Poly for Aiden to see our room for the first time and go to bed.
Monday, March 20th- Today is our first FAMILY day!! So excited!! We have a breakfast reservation at Ohana to begin our day. We'll eat breakfast with our Disney Ohana and head to EPCOT. This is slowly becoming a favorite for Aiden, I think the fact that it's his Dad's favorite has something to do with it. We'll ride Soarin', take a trip to Mars and ride on Spaceship Earth for our FP's. We'll try to get on Test Track and see if we can visit Ana and Elsa sometime today too. We'll probably head to the butterfly enclosure since this one of Aiden's favorites. After we ride Living with the Land at some point, we are going to take the Behind the Seeds tour, something we've wanted to do for a while. We will have lunch somewhere and later in the evening, we have dinner reservations at Via Napoli.
We will watch Illuminations and then head to MK because I'm pretty sure they have extra magic hours this evening. If not, we may head to Disney Springs or head back to the resort and watch the electric water parade. Another fun filled day is done.
Up next: Magic Kingdom, my home
I should be able to update tomorrow, since it's Friday. Next week, though, it might be tough so I'll probably try to finish with this PTR this weekend. Next week is BUSY and I still have to pack and clean throughout the week. Fun fun lol

Great plans! I think he'll like the tour. my DD loved it at his age, She liked being one of those "special" people who got to walk around in the greenhouses and waive to the boats going by. Have a great trip !
