Least vs 2017 and beyond- Questions - Page 2 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I've been there since the remodel and agree that the lobby is better now, but boring! I just can't find anything except the large room size to like about that resort. But, Go Figger! I didn't like Hawaii, either.
My issue with the old lobby besides the dampness was respiratory allergies. I could start wheezing from walking through the former jungle. (Sorry, Kate!)
I was surprised to find I didn't enjoy Hawaii myself. Love The Enchanted Tiki Room, hate the tropical look otherwise. No real reason than just don't like it.

1) Least favorite for us was Beach Club. We had stayed at AKL the trip before and BC just didn't compare to the splendor we felt at AKL. The BC theme seemed dull compared to our previous trips and the lazy river that we were excited to float around in didn't seem to move at all.
2) Go again - ANIMAL KINGDOM LODGE!!! We've stayed at CBR, AKL, BC, and POR and visited other hotels, but my husband and I (and kids!) just want to go back to AKL! We were dreaming of it so much last fall that we booked our trip and are going to be there in 23 days!!! Oh, and AS Sports - we thought we'd start our trip there to check it out for a night.
I see that others' least favorite resort is CSR but that is my favorite. We have stayed there many times. They have been friendly and helpful- when I lost my card key and they QUICKLY replaced it and when my daughter's suitcase was never brought to the resort from MCO. It was quickly found and delivered to our room.
My least favorite is CB. It is large and inconvenient. I didn't care for the counter service restaurant either.

Least favorite: AK Lodge. Dark room with low watt bulbs. We are not adventurous eaters and my son refused to eat anything at the restaurant.
Favorite:POP Century, Port Orleans Riverside, and Contemporary
Next visit May at Art of Animation Suites.
Least favorite: All Star Movies. It was fine at the time, but the rooms are small and we had a looooooong walk from our room to the main hall and bus stops.
Want to stay at next: Don't have a trip planned, but my next trip I'd like to stay at the Poly or BLT. Always wanted to stay at the Poly (and now they have DVC so it's doable) and I fell in love with the model unit for BLT when I took the tour, but have never stayed there.
Least favorite: I would say CS, it has our least favorite food court, resort is too large and not crazy about the pool. We only stayed there once and knew it wasn't a place for us.
Favorite: We are lucky enough to be staying at both of our favorites this year. BC - love the location, theming, proximity to EPCOT and Studios, pool is fantastic! I also love POFQ - small cozy feel and beignets Pool at FQ, not so much, but you can't have everything.
I also love WL - theming is really special and I am excited for the recent improvements to the pool area. Some day...
I've never stayed on site, but if $ were no object, I would be at WL or the Poly. I don't think I would ever want to stay at an all-stars or AoA, I think I'd prefer a cheap motel off site to the big box experience.
The one on-site experience I might actually do in real life is the campgrounds at FW. Problem is that we are tent campers and the weather isn't super conducive.
We stayed at ASmusic this past January and absolutely loved it! We had a family suite plus a preferred room next door to the suite. We really loved the family suite! We loved the food court area and enjoyed dinner after the parks each night. We'd find a large table (there was 10 of us!) in the very back and watch the old Disney cartoons while we ate. The kids loved the pool and activities each afternoon. The customer service was excellent our entire 11 day stay. We had fantastic mousekeeping that left us this in our window one evening...
That's my DD18's large stitch dressed in my DD8's Cinderella dress! We laughed so hard when we saw it!! Lol!
Believe it or not, my least favorite resort stay was Poly CL. We enjoyed the Poly, but I will never spend that kind of money on a Disney resort again. It just wasn't worth it.

My least favorite has been Saratoga Springs. Thank goodness that was a trip we had a car - it's just so sprawled out. I prefer to be able to get back and forth between lobby / restaurants and my room more quickly.
My fave will always be the first trip with my husband (then boyfriend) - Animal Kingdom Lodge. There's nothing to compare to sitting on the balcony overlooking the wildlife.
I'm waitlisted for the Beach Club for F&WF. It'll be my first time, if it comes through.
Will be staying at WL for Christmas 2018 and that will be a first. I'm most looking forward to that. I've had meals at WL before so I've been there at other times of year, but I'm especially looking forward to that resort during the holidays.

I don't really have a "least favorite" but if I had to pick, it would probably be our first stay in ASMu, and that was only because we were in the Country Music section which is all the way in the back.
On the list to try: Beach/Yacht Club or Poly, just because I want to stay in every deluxe at least once.
My favorite is AKL, Savannah view, although I wouldn't say no to GF, CL again (if someone else was paying). DH loved BW, mostly because he's a runner, and he just loved his early morning jogs on the Boardwalk.
I've stayed at all the resorts except the cabins, OKW, and Saratoga Springs. My favorite was the Poly. I just loved it.
My least favorite? All-Stars. I gave it three tries, staying in each of the sections, and hated all three. I always seem to be there when there was a large school group in residence. I wasn't terribly fond of POR, either, but that might be because I had a kidney stone during that trip and my room was fairly far away from the lobby/restaurant.
