Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

sorry for your loss. Sounds like the sisters are fitting in just fine. I love Ft Wilderness at Christmas. The carriage ride to see all the decorations was just wonderful. I can't image getting to live there for a couple of weeks.

We took them two years ago and they had a ball. Chester was amazed by the turkeys coming through the site everyday, Chubbs loved havig the bed all day and The Girls loved exploring the site loop and canal walking area.

The 10% off member CG's has already paid for itself.
The weekend after we got them we had ressies for a local CG that was having a Fun Themed weekend. So they got their first taste of Adventuring. Lucille took them in her car as we had planned to go over to Chincoteague Island and check it out. Unfortunately It was way too hot Real feel temp of 113+ and they are still a little too wld to leave at home alone for that long. So we just spent a lot of time at our site as the 2 pools were filled to beyond capacity.
They liked going out and exploring the Wilderness. Sometimes a bit too much as they would forget why we were out walking around. Katie must think she was trying out for Special Forces as she kept laying down and then crawling the next 10 feet or so. That is some thing she continues to do at home when she wants to sneak up on us or the cats .
As we know at Disney we are going to have a golf cart and tThe Wagging Tails Bark Park is a good bit from the loop we are hoping for we decided a golf cart was a good idea for the weekend. Well the kids loved it. They take turs riding on the seat between Lucille and I and The floor at Lucille's feet. Next time they are in for a rude awakening as WookieBear has also discovered she likes riding in the cart but has to be with me in the front so Mommy and the kids will be regulated to the rear seat

Sorry sorry for your loss but thank you so much to giving homes to two dogs that needed one. We have had two dogs for many years and when one passes the other gets very depressed so along comes another dog. Rescue dogs are the best and my guess is your shy girl will forever appreciate you both.

I cannot look at rescue sites. It breaks my heart that so many wonderful dogs don't have homes and I wish I could add to my fur baby family but sometimes I think the two I have (one 97.5 pounds strong and not overweight) are more than any 64 year old lady should have.

Last year we had hoped to go 2 weeks but trip had to be canceled due to coach needing repairs so I saved vacay time and we decided to spend more Fort time with less touring time and maybe getting a car last two weeks and seeing new Harry Potter stuff at Universal and poss. even hitting Sea World 1 day

Sky is no longer Miss Shy but a definite Daddy's girl. Hopefully that will translate well this weekend when leash training starts this weekend.
Know all too well about depression after loss that is how we ended up with Maggie and expected loss of Wookiebear is why we got two .

Sorry for the loss of your sweet Maggie but it seems like you truly saved two other lives that are definitely already part of your growing family. Looking forward to reading more about the new fur kids and your trip.

Day 2 on the road
This is another short travel day. Either we will leave Camp Wilderness early enough to get through Richmond before rush hour or after it should be over. This is mostly because the Richmond/ Petersburg bypass is the most boring strech of road I know of. Swampland on both sides and nothing but cattails and reeds on all sides. Luckily our 1st fuel stop is about 90 miles from the campground so everyone gets to stretch their legs and do a potty break.
Lucille is still debating on a stop at JR's in Selma NC Recent reports we've read and a check of their website doesn't look like things are improved from our last trip so most likely we'll either just push on to exit 49. Thee is our favorite CRACKER BARREL there and we try to stop at least once each trip either on the way down or way back.
Final destination for today is South of the Border just over the SC line. We could likely go a lot more than the 270 miles my trip planner says but other places we want to stay at are either just too far or don't offer a Bark Park or leave us so close to next days destination I won't want to stop and Lucille wants to be off the road at like 3:30 every afternoon. On the plus side we can both now say we have been to a place many of our friends growing up all have been to.

Tara I just seeing the darned thing just sit in the driveway. We have so many great CG's next door in Va and up your way that we try to get away once every month. Even if it's just us we find ways to have fun.
That CB is where we stopped for breakfast on Lucille's first Disney trip so there is a connection there

I prefer to try and get about 350 miles everyday but with the 2 little ones really not sure we can push it that far. Plus this way we get to revisit some some of the places we have been to and liked and investigate ones we have never been to and have wanted to try

Onlyone not thrilled with long trips is Chubbs. She and Chester ride under platform for our bed . They come out at night and claim top of bed, once we stop for longer period of time she claims entire bedroom as her own domain.
CB is favorite place to stop when on the road Good food reasonable prices and happy atmosphere.
