As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

We did Biergarten a few years ago and really enjoyed it. There are so many great choices on the buffet and all very good! And the entertainment is such a fun part of the experience! The only thing that deters some people, though we don't mind it, is the seating. It is set up like a beer garden with large tables that seat 8. So they seat two or three groups together. Both times we were there we were seated next to a friendly group and we enjoyed chatting with them about where they were from, how many times they'd been to WDW, where they were staying, etc.
We stayed at the Boardwalk last year and decided to tryTrattoria because of all the good reviews. It did not disappoint! We all loved our meal and the service was outstanding. We also ate breakfast there one morning and enjoyed that as well. Can't wait to go back this year!

110 days to go! Woohoo! (still crossing fingers a bit that I don't have to cancel)
Plans, plans, plans ....
DAY 1 (Mon SEP 12) ... arrival day, just plan on relaxing at the pool and checking out the resort before heading out to our Tier 1 dinner at H.D.D.R (hope grumpy likes it ... I'll keep the all-you-can-drink-beer coming, should make him smile!) Haven't figured out the best way to return to CBR after eating - any ideas? DAY 2 (Tue SEP 13) ... get up at our own pace this morning (although I am sure I will be up early taking photos of the resort while everyone still snores), eat breakfast or lunch at the resort, relax and swim before heading out to MNSSHP. Still undecided on what we will wear. DAY 3 (Wed SEP 14) ... get up when we do and head to Epcot for the day. Eat dinner at Biergarten DAY 4 (Thu SEP 15) ... sleep in a bit, then mini golf at Winter Summerland and a few hours at Blizzard Beach. Back to the resort to freshen up and then head to Disney Springs (just had to delete "Downtown Disney") and dinner at T-Rex. My only sad thing about this is I will miss taking the boat from POR. DAY 5 (Fri SEP 16) ... up early for a prior-to-park-opening breakfast reservation at Tusker House. Then spend the day at AK hoping for ROL package to be included with breakfast (hope hope hope). DAY 6 (Sat SEP 17) ... HS day ... or half day .... not much left to do. More relaxing time at CBR DAY 7 (Sun SEP 18) ... up early for a prior-to-park-opening breakfast reservation at Crystal Palace. Enjoy the day at MK, leaving for dinner at O'Hana's and then back to the resort for a swim. DAY 8 (Mon SEP 19) ... wake up and get going at our own pace (seriously this is too relaxed for me, but I promised DH a more relaxed vacation and being as he pays I figure I better keep him happy ... next life I will look for a suitor who loves Disney as much as me!) and off to Epcot for the day. Plan is to walk over to The Boardwalk for dinner time of 6:00 at Trattoria al Forno and check out some early night action before making our way back through Epcot to catch a bus back to CBR. Hope that will give us enough time to see some fun stuff. DAY 9 (Tues SEP 20) ... wake whenever (seriously getting tired of these lazy bums already!) and head to MK. Dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe DAY 10 (Wed SEP 21) ... again wake up to no alarm, head to Typhoon Lagoon, back to resort to change, dinner at 1900 PF (although seriously thinking of changing this) and evening at MK DAY 11 (Thu SEP 22) ... don't even want to discuss this day
So that is our Cole's Notes version of our plans!
Next up: How will we get there? We drove in 2012 .... what now?

Day 1 - As far as how to get back after HDDR - if it is the late show which I think you said it was in an earlier post - bus. Not much if anything will be running. You can keep looking for an earlier HDDR time closer to the date - people cancel/change ADRs all the time. Personally I like the late show.
Day 4 - As for the boat ride from POR to DS...you can always do that even though you are not staying there. Same with the pasta bar - it's open to everyone not just those staying at POR.
Day 8 - Might be faster & give you more time to enjoy the Boardwalk activities if you just boat over to DHS & catch a bus from there or catch a bus to any park from the Boardwalk & then from there to CBR. Guessing the first option would be faster though. Try the Surry bikes - they are a blast.

When we did a late dinner last year at Boma we chose to take a taxi back to the resort. It was so much quicker than the other option which was a bus to DTD and then another bus back to BW. I can't recall how much it was, (under $20, I know) but to us it was money well spent.

Plans look great! We are not a "rope drop" kind of family either. My family doesn't like the "commando" touring so a more relaxed touring style works well for us. We still book FP+ and ADRs but the rest of the time is unscheduled. We do a lot of QS meals so we don't have a bunch of ADRs on our trips.
