As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We generally haven't gone to the Italian or Chinese places because we can get that at home. So far, there probably isn't anything I'd specifically avoid.
I am not a huge buffet person. I have been to Hollywood and Vine, 1900 park fare and crystal palace all for dinners. I just wasn't impressed with any(aside for character interaction). I do however enjoy buffets for breakfast.
Tony's underwhelms, but believe it or not, my worst meal ever was at Hollywood Brown Derby, I know, I know. How is that possible? Well, the world famous cobb salad came out so finely chopped it didn't need to be chewed (sorry, I expect some crunch in a salad), and my friend ordered a noodle dish that had absolutely no flavor. The waiter also gave real attitude when she sent it back. It was altogether a very unmagical experience, and too expensive to risk going back
Unpopular opinion... Be our guest. One of the worst meals ever. Also won't be returning to Bongos (terrible food and rude service) and just not a fan of the food at 50s prime time, however I love the lounge there!
I'm with Maci. Be Our Guest was awful! I'm also with CinderAbby on the turkey leg. Ewww. And Lotus Blossom just seemed like mall food Chinese to us.
The one I could add but don't have to because it's closed is Kouzzina. We had a good meal the first time but the service on subsequent visits just went totally downhill. It was really a disappointment especially since it was a restaurant of an Iron Chef. Glad it closed!
I agree with Hazel in my dislike of the chaos of 'Ohana. I know it's a favorite of a lot of people, but count me out. I agree, too, that Electric Umbrella is the worst of the QS options and Lotus Blossom to me is just as Coop says, bad food-court Chinese.
It would be Le Cellier for us. Sadly, it started out fantastic a few years ago and then just went downhill from there. Year after year we were consistently seated up to an hour after our reservation time, it was too crowded and dark for us, and they seemed totally incapable of serving anything that didn't contain onions, garlic, peppers, or spices. Such a disappointment.
I guess it takes all sorts of folks to make up a world - we LOVE Casey's, the 50's Prime Time Café, and the Electric Umbrella, although Pecos Bills is now off the menu for us - they stopped doing the huge Angus cheeseburger we loved, with bacon, sweet BBQ sauce, and crispy battered onion rings, (of which I could eat a couple!), and have now gone way too far down the Mexican food route for my delicate internal workings!

For me it is Pizza Planet and Yak and Yeti CS. Since Pizza Planet is closing for awhile that is an easy place to avoid. Their pizza was not good and the salad I had made me sick. Yak and Yeti has no good seating that isn't in the blazing sun and there is no air flow in that little courtyard. Their food wasn't that great either. I did like the TS, just not the CS.

I was also really disappointed with the cobb salad. And I had been really looking forward to trying it! The flavor was good, but it's more shredded than chopped (based on watching cooking shows, I think it was a chiffonade), and the texture turned me off. I'd go back to try other dishes.
Be warned: Grand Floridian Cafe makes a cobb salad the same way. All the other items at GF Cafe were good, though.

It's Pecos Bill's for our family. We tried it a few years ago and it was terrible, but decided to try again the following year to see if we had hit it on a bad day - nope, still gross! We have not been to WDW since the menu change though, so we might give it another go sometime.
Cosmic Ray's for us. We had a bad experience with seating there once and it just turned me off to the place. I also wasn't really impressed with the food.
There are three that we wouldn't put back into rotation. Rainforest Café, we eat at them all over the country but we have had two very bad experiences at the DTD location so we are chalking it up to management and moving on.
Le Cellier, we had a really rough experience that included waiting almost 2 hours between being finally seated and getting food. Normally we would give it another try again before writing it off but the food just didn't appeal enough.
The third is The Wave. We had fine service there and the food was good enough but there was something in the air that kicked off my allergies and I am highly allergic to mold. I sneezed the whole time I was there and developed a headache. I thought I was getting sick but 10 minutes after leaving I was fine. It's really too bad because my daughter loved her meal.
