The Trip Full of Thanksgiving and Christmas 11/19-11/28 - Page 2 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Sorry for the rocky emotional start. I've had a few of those myself and it's always a lack of sleep that gets it started.
Photobucket worked for me yesterday, and I've not been on today. Hope it's straightened out quickly. But as a warning, I had a problem a couple of weekends ago with my autopay with them. I sent an e-mail and posted a message on Facebook and waited and waited. No one is in on the weekends. But early Monday my problem was resolved.
Thanks hot the heads up. It shouldn't be an autopsy issue big I will check on it. I can get to my pictures, I just can't seem to edit them. They emailed me back with some suggestions, which I tried a few and they didn't work. I will sit down and try the rest this weekend. Hopefully we can figure it out. I tried it on a couple of computers, and it was the same issue.

I think sadly we've all been there and done that with Photobucket. It certainly can have its moments!
Ugh, I can just imagine how utterly exhausted you were by the time you finally got there. Not the greatest start being that tired, but at least you're in the magic.

I will try it again this afternoon. It is just bizarre because I have never had issues like this before.
I was exhausted and yet so very happy to be there. It was very conflicting emotions lol!

Glad you made it but sorry it was so late and you were tired. We've had a few late night arrivals and it is exhausting! Hopefully tomorrow will be a magical day!
I gotta confess there aren't many TR's I begin reading and follow all the way to the end, picky lit geek, ex-English teacher that I am. (I know. I should be more understanding and patient, not giving up as easily as I do. After all, people write as well as they're able.)
Your OP was soooooo engaging and well-composed, you had me thinking immediately, "THIS ONE has me hooked!" Well said, very well said, in fact. Terrific pacing, wonderful use of teasers. I am truly eager to read the next installments despite the lack of photos.
Anyone else want ?

Hoping to see if Photobucket will cooperate tonight!

Why thank you very much for the compliment! I do love writing, and I am a teacher myself, so I get it.

Hi, Amy! I'm so happy you're finally settling in to do the TR as I've so enjoyed your PTR. I hope the photo issues resolve sooner rather than later.
Sorry to hear of your mini meltdown from exhaustion but it's totally understandable. Hopefully you were able to sleep in a little after hitting the hay at 3:30 am!
Ah ha, a picture. I don't know if these are going to work as I am having to use my phone and can't resize but it is a start. I have emailed Photobucket again as none of their suggestions have worked. Anyway, this is us saying goodbye to Chicago.

Well there are a few pictures anyway. It still isn't what I want to do, but hopefully that can get fixed soon.
November 20,2015
We slept until 6:45 a.m. Yes, you read that right. Tim and I got a total of about three hours sleep. What woke us up? I don't know. Preston was on an inflatable mattress we brought and he was tossing all around. Caden was in bed with Tim, because Tim wanted to make sure I sept well so I got a bed all to myself. But apparently Caden continued his Mr Pointy Toes reputation and stabbed Tim all night. And well frankly, we were In the Disney Bubble! It was time to go see it!
We got up and got showered and ready for the day. I called Bell services and we had our Garden Grocer order delivered. We had some water, Gatorade, cheese sticks, granola bars and bananas now.
We discussed what to do for breakfast and decided to head to Pepper Market, the resort's food court. We needed to stop by the gift shop for an autograph book anyway.
We decided to walk there, instead of taking a bus there. We were crazy. It was beautiful. The weather was warm, but gorgeous.
Once we got into Pepper Market, it took a moment to figure out how it all worked, only because we hadn't been there before. Most of us wanted different things. I wanted Mickey waffles. I got in line for those right away. They were served with Strawberry compote and sausage or bacon. I chose sausage. Tim and Caden wanted biscuits and gravy. Tim was talking to the server, so he got an extra helping as his looked twice as big as Caden's. It pays to be nice! Preston wanted the bacon and egg sandwich. This came with fried potatoes. What was our thoughts on our first Disney meal? I loved my waffles. They were crispy on the outside and warm and soft on the inside. Tim said the gravy was good, the biscuits were decent, the bacon was better than the usual Disney bacon, and the potatoes were just okay. Caden said the same and wanted some of his dad's bacon since he had more! Preston said his meal was good, but didn't care for the potatoes. Tim and the boys had Mexican soda along with their breakfast. They liked it. They tried pineapple and orange. I had a bottle of water. We also got or refillable mugs, which as usual, we never ended up using again.
After filling up on a good, hearty breakfast we headed to the gift shop. We found the autograph book, but I also found a swim suit. Now I don't find swim suits I like and I really needed another one, so I got that too. We got a discount using our Disney Visa and brought our purchases back to our room. A little bit of information that will come into play later. One of my good friends that I teach across the hall from is related to the manager of the Panchitos Gift shop. I looked for her (Amanda) while I was there but she was not there that morning.
We then walked back to our room, got our bags ready, and headed out to the bus stop. I found a short cut to it right away just by being nosey and exploring. We were very happy to see how close we were to it. We waited about 15 minutes for a bus. Once we boarded it wasn't too full and we were able to be seated without a problem. I could barely contain my excitement!! Oh how I love hearing the music as you get near. The first glimpses of the castle were met with cries of excitement from Caden. We were finally here!
So the plan was to close down the park that night with the Christmas party. Did we make it? You will have to wait to find out!
