Fabulous Fall Fun Trip! PTR for Sept 2014 WDW trip (AKL = Vero Beach) - Page 2 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

So 'Clinically Insane' or 'Partially Deranged' works for you? Noted.
I work midnights and need to go lay down but am reading trip reports on here and mouseowners too. And let me say, there are some people who complain about everything being wrong, every customer service rep treating them bad and I think 'Do they not realize that the only common denominator is THEM?' I have great interactions with everyone (even when I am trying to get a minivan without any credit card! lol). People skills people. Learn them. Love them. Alrighty then, let me slide this soapbox back under the bed and continue!!
When my wife gets home tonight, and before I go to work, we are going to try to set the reservations (she cancelled the one in the restaurant at the top of the Contempoary as I think the fireworks are not being done while we are there for some reason?). Then I can put that on here somewhere, in case others will be there at the same time and want to join us! Without looking at my emails, we do have a possiblilty of a young man and his Mom, or his grandfather joining me in a trip out to the Flight of Fantasy in Polk City. A must visit place for avaiation fans. I have not made it there the last two trips, it's time I go again.
I do things off the cuff, but at the same time I take notes to take with us to remember 'possibilites' of things we might decide to do. I like to be flexible as I feel a schedule takes away from the enjoyment of my trips. if I don't get to it, then I will next time.
So far, the list is checking for early La Nouba tickets for Sat night the 14th? We have the Halloween party Friday night after we fly in, and are going to get them for another night too I think.
I also found out that the food and wine festival starts the day we are supposed to go out to Vero Beach. I immediately decided that DW can take the girls on test track a couple times while I circle the lagoon and gorge myself on all the delicacies that are offered. She also might have to drive if I slip into a food coma!! I will not eat as many this time, but when we left one time we had 18 snack credits left which they used for the booths. And I used all of them. Yeah..that was too many! Everyone else stopped sharing at about 12 and I was bound and determined that I would not leave any unused. In a lifetime of questionable choices, this was..... well, frankly, it was a rather delicious one! I REGRET NOTHING!!!!
Things to discuss tonight is Beaches and Cream kitchen sink, (surprising the girls and watching them dig in!) and which Italian place she has reservations at. I saw a picture of pizza at Via Napoli and I think we just have to try that! I also realized we have not dug deep enough into the different countries, and more or less have just passed them by. I am looking forward to going into them more and seeing what is there.
Also, since we do tend to have a minivan and switch parks each day, I am buying a big Styrofoam cooler to keep in the van with water so we can replenish as we move destinations.
I also want to take the girls to the hedgerow maze behind the UK to let them run around and play some.
Side note to people, I have State Farm, and called them about the coverage for rental cars, specifically about the damage issue. If a rental car is damaged, then also charge you for each day the car is being repaired and not available to be rented, at the full rate. State Farm had that coverage, it added I think 12 dollars to my premium...for the year. Maybe for the 6 month bill we pay. Either way, it's way cheaper than buying it there. Something you all may know, or not know, and it could save you money from protecting yourself there.
I picked up another battery pack to charge our phones and ipods while we are there also. We had one last time, and it worked great. One gets low, plug it in, drop it in the backpack to charge and you are golden. But since the girls like different rides, DW and I get separated and we both wanted one to have. So now we are good.
I'll pop back in as there is more to say. Five weeks from tomorrow!! (Not sure how to do a countdown timer). Nap time before work now, then I'll be reading more reports. Love seeing what others do, seeing the pictures, and I learn new things all the time. Like today, I learned about the manatees in EPCOT!! Never had a clue!
Ciao!
Tim

I agree, there can be a lot of negativity in reports. One thing I like about Passporters - people are generally very positive (but I don't mind hearing about some bad experiences, if it helps, the rest of us).
Good luck sorting through the rest of your plans. Twice to MNSSHP? I'm jealous.

Oh wow, sounds like you had an absolute ball with those remaining food credits last time at the Food and Wine Festival!
Oh yes, it was quite fun. I was bound and determined not to let them go to waste! Or course, I was getting things for my girls and wife too, but still. I ate the most.

We try to have things lined up, but it's a science now, so not too much to worry about. Hotel done, dog stay done, car rental done, plane tickets bought, dining plan should be purchased by the weekend (my check with overtime went in the bank today), and now to just make a few reservations at places we like to eat, and we are golden. Just waiting for the clock to tick by. I have a torn rotator cuff and that hurts, was going to do the surgery but didn't want to be limp armed when I went so it is scheduled for October. *sigh*
Did I mention 5 of the slowest moving weeks of the year left?

We all like the Halloween holiday and the party was fun the last time we went. So..why not twice?

It was a blast!

I am about a month behind you, so I feel what you are saying. Hoping once school starts back for the girls, it will start flying by!!!

Great point. And that is Wednesday for us. As I want sleep now and both are up and making noise....... that can't come soon enough! I love summers where I get little sleep and play a lot with them doing every activity under the sun, I do appreciate school and me getting some sleep while they are away. (I work midnights)
Great update! I was thinking about doing 2 nights of the Halloween Party for my family too, but we finally decided that 1 was enough for the 5 nights we will be there. Halloween is our family's favorite time to visit Disney!

It's my wife's favorite time, I like between Turkey Day and Christmas since I love the Christmas decorations, but....her work makes that more difficult. So I guess I will 'suffer' through Halloween! lol
