What the Heck….we got a PIN code PTR! - Page 2 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I'm sorry you've gone through such a rough patch... a trip to WDW is the perfect place to catch your breath and celebrate life's blessings! Sound like an awesome trip is in the works. Can't think of a better way to celebrate your birthday!
If we can swing it would love to meet up for a picture and a cool FAB if you all are up to it!
We would love to meet up for a picture. I let Luke get a FAB for both of us as they give me freeze brain. Though at F&WF time I bet I can get a glass of wine.
Congrats on double digits! I just realized we reached double digits yesterday ourselves.

So, I have been trying to get an ADR for BOG, no luck yet. I have been trying a couple of times each day at different times to try and snag something. It won’t be the end of the world if we don’t get it but it would be nice.
We were contemplating going to the Luau at the Poly…any opinions? Figure it’s free dining…might was well splurge!!!
On Saturday, I spent about an hour visiting with my friend who just moved down there. She is getting excited about us coming down. She is really missing her buddies up here. Guess she is struggling with finding new friends, so right now it’s family and co-workers and it’s just not the same. She is going to look for some specials on Universal tickets. Luckily, we can get those last minute via the internet so it’s not like I have to wait for them to be mailed to us. I was teasing her that if they love us, they will wait to go to Diagon Alley when we come down. She said, yes, we love you…but butterbeer ice cream…that can’t wait.
We are down into the double digits and getting excited! I need to get online and start checking out plane costs. We are hoping to keep it under $1000. Wish us luck!!!!
July 22, 2014
Well, did some research on plane tickets…it will cost us almost as much to use air miles for 2 one way tickets and buy the other 2 one ways and a round trip ticket on Alaska Airlines as it would be just buy three round trip tickets on Delta. Soooo, it looks like Delta it is! At least we can still get air miles add to the AK Air accounts with them.
I’ve decided that I want to make this a Hidden Mickey Trip! My goal (in addition to riding 7DMT) is to find and photograph as many Hidden Mickeys as I can!!! I have randomly looked for them in the past, but this go-round I’m going to be actively looking for them.
Still haven’t been able to an ADR for BOG…may just give up and maybe try and get in for lunch. It definitely isn’t going to ruin the trip if we don’t get in.

OMG - He's sooooo grown up!!!! And an EAGLE SCOUT!! I can still remember my cute little Tiger Cub! 2016 Reading Goal - 75 books
Our last trip was in October 2012 (at about the same time you're going) and it was perfect. Crowds were relatively light, the F&WF is going on, Halloween stuff is going on (if you can swing it, MNSSHP is outstanding), the weather is wonderful, and it's just a perfect time to go.
You've had a rough go of it, Jennifer - so glad that you can finally relax & enjoy with a Disney trip. Nothing like a dole whip float to whisk your cares away! And FD is a great discount, too - congratulations! I'm sure you will have an amazing time!
On our 2012 trip, WookiePants and I did the Luau and we just loved it. It was a lot of fun, and the food was plentiful (so was the drink!), and the entertainment was great. Big ol' thumbs up for that one. Plus...I understand it was revamped in the past 2 years and is even better than we last remember it! And afterwards, head out to the beach at the Poly and watch Wishes - they pipe in the Wishes music onto the beach, and when we were there last, there was a lighted floating parade on the water as well. Bonus points: not having to fight all those people at the MK! Besides, the Poly is a lovely resort.
Keep trying for BoG, especially at the 45 and 30 day marks...people cancel all the time, and I've heard of people getting last minute reservations! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Maybe you can schedule a FP for lunch there?
We are going during the Xmas holidays for 2014, but for sure, the next time we go will be in October again because we had such a great time. You won't be sorry!
Finally - happy 29th birthday! What a wonderful way to spend your special day!

Great Start Jennifer!!! Sorry for all the craziness you all have dealt with
How exciting to spend your birthday in WDW!!!! I like your idea of making this a "hidden mickey" trip! Might have to borrow that idea some time!

Good luck with getting BOG. For the lunch FP, there is a website you can log into if you don't get an email invite. They open up about 28 days before the trip (at least that's how it is working now.
Did you say where you are staying? And, congrats on the free dining and the car.

I've always had good luck with Delta. I fly them exclusively. Plus, they are the only carrier to have a "larger size passenger" policy that doesn't charge that person more money if they need extra accommodation.
Just get in to BOG for lunch. To be honest, the food at dinner just isn't that great. It's good, but it's not earth shattering. Lunch is very good food, you get the experience of the castle, and get to use the new technology. I happily canceled my dinner ADR when I was able to get lunch.
If you're going to use free dining, then sure, go for the Luau at the Poly, but you may want to consider paying for this out of pocket since it's a two credit experience. TS credits have a value of approximately $35 and you really aren't getting your full value by using 2 credits. I also don't think the seating you get it worth the cost in Cat 2 or 3.
