Brent and Cinderella celebrate Jordan's 17th birthday. (Ariel too.) COMPLETE 4/7 - Page 2 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Thursday March 13 - Jordan’s birthday at the Magic Kingdom!
I awoke at 6 and headed to get coffee. It was a chilly morning. High was only going to be in the 60’s. Still better than back in Michigan where I was led to believe they were still digging out from a snow storm. Went for another chilly swim then woke up Jordan and we headed to the Busses. As luck would have it, I got in line for the bus behind a gentlemen wearing a Bell’s Brewery jacket. Bell’s Brewery is based in Kalamazoo, Michigan, just about half an hour from our home. They make Oberon, my favorite summertime ale. We enjoyed a quick chat. It truly is a small world. We made it to the castle in time for our breakfast reservation. We got in right away and met Cinderella. She was looking especially beautiful this morning.
We were quickly seated and the princesses made their way to meet us. Ariel actually recognized me! On previous trips she looked at my photo book and saw a picture of me kissing Cinderella’s hand. She got all giggly and said, I want to do that one! So we did! Here’s a picture from that trip years ago.
Then again last December:
And she greeted us today by grabbing my photo book and finding these pictures, then looking at me with her warm smile and asked “We’re going to do this kissy pose again, aren’t we? I told Eric and he’s OK with it as long as it’s you”. I thought that was quite the compliment. So pose we did!
Of course she had a fit over Jordan’s devotion to her.
All the other princesses were very welcoming too:
Then we made our way out and rode Pirates, and Haunted Mansion. Then we saw Tink and Rosetta.
Now it was time for the first Dole Whips of the trip. Then we had fastpasses good to see Cinderella! She recognized me right away and greeted me with a knowing smile and opened her arms immediately for a hug. I gladly obliged. We had a good meeting and she reminded me of the time years ago when I first kissed Cinderella’s precious gloved hand.
I decided to repeat that wonderful memory - with her permission, of course- and here’s what it looked like.
As I did this, I heard a collective “Awwwwwwwww” come from all the other guests in the room. It was quite a moment. Aurora was glad to see us too.
Now we needed a snack to tide us over for dinner so we found the Harbor House and split a basket of chicken, fish and fries. Jordan got to ring the bell and got sang too. Jordan then got her Peter Pan hat which you will see shortly in the upcoming pictures. We made our way to the front of the park to do some more shopping when a Cast Member working in one of the shops asked us if Jordan had been sang Happy Birthday too. We answered ‘yes’, then she asked if she had it song to her backwards yet. We thought this sounded interesting so we said ‘Sure!’ So, Bethany, the cast member promptly spun around with her back to us and sang it Loud and Proud! It was so cute and worth a picture.
Then we found a spot for the parade but it was delayed for some reason. They entertained the crowd by having people come out in Main Street and Hula Hoop. After some encouragement, Jordan obliged and did a trick she knew of running while spinning the hoop on her ankle. The crowd went wild!
We had a fastpass running out and we were coming back Sunday so we decided to skip the parade and go on to see Rapunzel and Snow.
Then a hug fest with her favorite mermaid.
Now a quick trip to meet Tiana. She was friendly as ever.
Now it was dinner time at Beast’s Castle. She found a hidden Mickey outside:
and we had a great dinner. She got a birthday cupcake and free grey stuff.:
Then after dinner we met the Beast. He decided to enter into a staring contest with Jordan after gesturing me to more or less back off. So back off, I did :
It was a great experience and the end to a great birthday. It was now well past Fireworks and approaching midnight so we decided to head out.
Tomorrow: breakfast at Akershus and a very familiar Cindi we had gifts for!
Nice updates. You sure do squeez in a lot of Princess meets. There is no way I would have waited 4 hours though - you get a gold star for that. Do you ever know which CM you will get when seeing Cindy or do you just hope to see a certain one?

Oh we all know there is only one Cinderella.... and she never disappoints us. True there are some cast members that recognize us and we appreciate that more than words can say. But we never know who we're going to meet.

No, you didn't miss anything. I'll see what I can do about the close up.
It's going to be busy weekend. It may be a few days before I can get to the next update.

Friday, March 14, 2014 Akershus for breakfast, Epcot day, and Brent ventures off alone at night???
Woke at 6:00 this morning which wasn’t really easy because we stayed very late at the MK last night enjoying Jordan’s wonderful birthday. But the lure of coffee in the food court won out, so soldier on, I did. It was still quite chilly, so no swimming for me this morning. Jordan got up, we got around and it was off to Epcot for breakfast with the princesses. Belle was beautiful in her Winter wrap.:
Ariel recognized Jordan from Wednesday, I believe. Notice her hand resting gracefully on my Cinderella scarf? It was cold that morning!
Aurora was as beautiful and friendly as ever:
But then Cinderella came! This Cinderella knew us very well. We go way back with her and she has given us many special memories. I started to tear up.
I actually brought a special gift for her. A little ‘Princess Hankie’ if you will. I printed on it the words.”Because of you, we can take the magic with us anywhere”. That saying has some very special significance for Liz and myself, and I truly believe she knew the significance. You can kind of see her holding it in the pictures. Here is what the design looked like.:
I hope she was half as happy to see me as I was to see her. Then Snow showed up and was very friendly. She showed us the new Ruby the dwarves gave her to put in her bow. I smiled and told her Ruby is my birthstone! (Hint! Hint! Remember this. Subtle foreshadowing going on here!)
So once breakfast was over we headed to Future world to enjoy the Nemo Aquarium area and Spaceship Earth. I always lose track of time in the aquarium, I swear it could be one of the most underrated things in Disney world. I’m always happy when I go there. Now World Showcase was open so we made our way around the world. But first we happened along a topiary of butterflies, and they were purple. Jordan squealed in delight because when she was a little girl, maybe even a toddler, she would wake up happy most mornings. When she did I asked her if she woke up happy because she had good dreams. She would reply “Yes, I did have good dreams, daddy. I dreamt about purple butterflies” So, there ya go! Purple butterflies on your birthday trip. Perfect!
We had some other people take a picture of us. Our newly enlisted photographer actually came up to me because she thought I was ‘Rockin’ the Cindi Mickey ears. So I decided to put them back on.
Now we set out around the world and I obtained a beer, and promptly had to set it down to take a picture to send back to Liz of a stunningly detailed Snow Topiary:
As luck would have it, Aurora was taking visitors when we got around to France. She loved my shirt and was very impressed with me I’m certain.
Then we saw Mulan. Had a real nice visit, and then we showed off our shoes. She called hers her ‘Mushus’. Clever!
Now it was back to the resort for some lunch, a walk around the resort and swim time. Jordan did an “Ariel hair flip” in the pool. I think she did it very well!
Then back to Epcot to cash in our fastpasses for Test Track, Soarin, and Mission Space. Then we had a lovely steak dinner at Coral Reef. On the way out, Jordan had to do the classic ‘Holding up the ball’ pose to send to a friend back home.
And tried again on the way out.
Well we got back to our room at about 9:30. I was not yet tired and I felt the night was young. I proposed heading to MK to close it. Jordan was tired out for the day so she wanted to stay in but she encouraged me to go ahead. So go ahead, I did. I got there on the bus just as fireworks were starting. They let you go in the back way behind Main Street, so I was in! I felt like the whole park was my oyster. Short waits and I could do anything I wanted. I rode Big Thunder railroad. Peter Pan’s flight. and just walked around. I found myself near Tink’s nook, so I stopped in to see her and send a picture back to Liz.
Tink was very friendly and as I was leaving she winked at me and said “I’ll fly with you anytime!” I strategically planned to be near Storybook Hall when I was ready to leave. I rode the carousel because it was pretty much a walk on and I got Cindi’s horse. (The one with the yellow ribbon on it’s tail). Then I was ready to go see the princesses then make my way home. Cinderella was very happy I came to see her. She told me all about how she was practicing a new little ‘kick’ for the new parade.
Then she insisted on giving me one of the sweetest hugs…..
Aurora was there too….
Now it was well past midnight, and I was indeed getting tired so, satisfied I had a very good day, I headed home. Got to ride on one of the new Bendi-Busses, fell asleep on the ride home, trudged up to our room and called it a night. A bit distressed because I just remembered we have a 7:00 am breakfast at Chef Mickey….
Next: Chef Mickey for breakfast, then the Studios……. And Jordan quite possibly has the ‘Coolest dude ever’ for a dad???? Stay tuned!!
