What is the point of paying for Park Hoppers with Fastpass + - Page 2 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

In most cases--I've been advising people to tour the parks using a touring plan in the mornings and plan their Fast Passes in the afternoon or at the second park they are visiting!
If you get to an attraction that you have a FP for and the wait is short--get in the standby line and change your FP to something else either on your smart phone or at one of the FP+ kiosks in the parks!
Registered Message Board Members save 30% off PassPorter guidebooks! When you register you'll have access to a discount coupon good for 30% off the list price of PassPorter books in our online store.
I didn't think of that, what a great idea to do rope drop and then get your FP+ for a different park in the afternoon, especially when you can use them for Fantasmic and stuff.

And if everyone does this, the parks will be very crowded in the mornings. We like to get there early to avoid the crowds. And if everyone is trying to change their Fastpasses via their cell phones, can you imagine how slow the Wi-Fi will be, or how slow the site will be? It will take forever to change your Fastpass. And then if you parkhop, you won't be able to get a Fastpass for anything, which makes Parkhopping useless for anything except dining. We don't use a touring plan, but instead we visit the park that has EMH.
I'm not trying to start an argument, just trying to work through some of these new developments. Certain changes I don't mind, but I don't like some of these recent developments. I suppose I will have to adjust, but I'll have to really think about the way I want to approach this.
PassPorter's Free-Book to Walt Disney World It’s hard to believe anything is free at Walt Disney World; but there are actually a number of things you can get or do for little to no cost. This e-book documents over 200 free or cheap tips to do before you go and after you arrive. You could save a considerable amount of money following these tips. Perhaps more importantly; you can discover overlooked attractions and little-known details most people whiz by on their way to spend money. Click here to see free sample pages from the e-book! Get this popular e-book free of extra charges when you join the PassPorter's Club for as little as $4.95. A club pass includes access to all our other e-books; e-worksheets; super-size photos; and more! This e-book is also available for separate purchase in the PassPorter Online Store for just $5.95.
We always hop. We usually do one park in the morning, go back to the room for nap and/or swim, and go to whatever park has evening EMHs for dinner and fun. Since crowds are usually relatively light for evening EMHs, there is no need for fastpasses, so I am getting our FP+ for the morning park.
I don't think that I could live without hopping because I really really really hate being trapped at MK when it is so crowded that you can barely move! When that happens, I like to hop on the monorail and go over to Epcot where there is usually plenty of space and go back to MK another time. However, you never know how crowded it is going to be until you actually get there - so I really like having options.
Hopping is essential for our trip next week also because we will be staying at BCV and I plan to run over to Epcot (my fave park) EVERY chance I get. I want to sneak over there for breakfast at the French bakery while DH and the kids are still in bed, and I want to take DD over there to complete some more Agent P missions while DH and DS are napping, etc.
Therefore, I think that I will keep the PHs for a while. I like the freedom it gives us and it works best for us.

Hopping into Epcot this next trip is also essential to us as we will be at YC and also plan to hit Epcot often. Is the bakery in France open for breakfast before WS opens at 11;00?
How did I not know this already!!!!!!! I thought it was roped off so you could only head to Future World before WS opened.
Although walking over to the Boardwalk Bakery is a great plan too.
I can't imagine no parkhoppers and I can't imagine only 3 Fastpasses a day. Three a day just doesn't work for us, no matter how you slice it. We really focus on the attractions more than anything else, so 3 will be really limiting for us. We'll really have to plan a lot more in order to maximize those 3 fastpasses.
And the most disappointing thing to me is no more little "magical" surprises - either a "surprise" fastpass or someone just walking by and handing you a fastpass they can't use.
I feel exactly the same way on both points! I really hope they get away from the only 3/day/1 park thing!

wait...what?? how can I get there from the front of the park? do I just tell the cm that's where i'm going...
and i'm literally drooling about the food AND getting into WS early!
I'm not positive about this, but I'm guessing that it may only be accessible to people entering through the International Gateway?
We're staying at Boardwalk Villas for the first time this summer and I hadn't even thought about hopping over there for breakfast!! Very exciting!! (Not that I needed anything else to get me excited!)

Strolling over to Epcot every evening is the main reason we get park hoppers every trip! We've stayed at the BC and YC every trip for this reason. I'm not sure how the FP+ would work for us?? Hopefully when we plan our next trip to the parks, they'll have this all figured out. I always loved the change of scenery/pace having two parks to visit in one day. I'd hate to lose that!

That I don't know.
Our one stop in the bakery one night was not impressive to us so it wasn't something we wanted to try out for breakfast. We don't like the atmosphere and I've never been all that in love with the food. We'll stick with Sunshine Seasons if we want breakfast.
We always get a Park Hopper. I couldn't imagine staying in only one park a day. LOL I think it will be interesting how this will change wait times for rides.
Wouldn't it be nice if Park Hopper Tickets came with an extra FP+ or two that you could use at a second park in the same day - even if they took one away from your first park.
We will be there in the next 2 weeks, but good friends of ours are Disney Greeters at EPOCT and here is some info.
The legacy fast pass is gone in AK and MK, all other parks will be gone shortly.
The Fast pass + is the new way of doing things and kiosks are being put up to accomidate day and onsite guests
The complaints are many, but over all, from what we were told, the average FP per person per day was 4. The new FP+ system is a way to control the flow through every park. They can quickly determine how many people will be in each park at anytime and where that population may be moving towards.
Not sure how all this is going to go, but will advise after we return
