As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I only took him in the morning last time, so this trip I'm going to see if the magic of the nighttime atmosphere captures him. Otherwise I'll just go get my fill without him while he sleeps in one morning

Missed the last update as I was posting, love your secret planning and how willing he was to just book a trip like that! Woohoo for that extra BOG pixie dust
That's a good man you've got there. It took me some time to convince DH to honeymoon at WDW. He wanted to do something else, but I had already invested emotionally in WDW. In the end he said "Go ahead it will make you happy." And it did. Now we go every other year!

You have a good man too then! And the fact that he fell in with the world must make your marriage that much more magical, to relive that special time every other year.

Glad he was onboard and you will get to eat at BOG!
Trust me, I don't think it will be like this forever when it comes to Disney. He absolutely loves Universal and Islands of Adventure. I've actually made a deal with him that after our Disney APs are up, that next year we will get Universal APs and rotate every other year. Sacrifices!

He really is a sweetie, and I'm just lucky to have found him If the emotional investment hadn't paid off, I'm not sure what I would have done!!

With the introduction of MyMagic+, I went online to customize our Magic Bands and found that I was unable to make my Fastpass+ selections until 60 days before our vacation; the same day as online check-in. I'm not sure if this is because we're AP or if this is for everyone
TRs kept me at bay for about a week. I would read about someone eating somewhere, then check for openings at that restaurant, and then decide that it would be a much more affordable vacation for us to just go with quick-service options. I love my ADRs, and also used to love my DxDP, but Joshua doesn’t like to plan a lot, and I am trying to be more like him in that sense. We like to live in the moment and find the happiness and joy that surrounds us at that time, instead of rushing from one thing to the next.
It happened to be the night before our 60 days, and Josh and I were coming down with some colds . We had both gotten up that night around 3 a.m., unable to get back to sleep. He went to go take a hot shower, and I was tossing and turning in bed. Well, what better time than to get on My Disney Experience app, right there in my pjs in bed, and make my Fastpass+ reservations!!
For some reason it would only let me make them for Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, but that was okay for me at the time. The one thing Josh requested was that all three each day, would be timed close to each other, which is what I was going to do anyway
The following day I was at work, and had remembered receiving an email about “Stay, Play, and Dine” a few days beforehand. I decided to call up the reservation line and ask about adding a dining plan; I wasn’t sure what would be available because we didn’t need tickets obviously. The very nice CM on the phone told me that there was a passholder option for a dining plan , so I added on the quick-service plan to our reservation. (Actually this meant she had to cancel my room only reservation and make a new one with the QS dining plan, no big deal though ).
A few moments later I got my confirmation email and did my online check-in! I then went to revise my Fastpass+ selections, and was able to make them for Wednesday as well. I went home that night and told Joshua what I had done. I got no reaction . I had actually printed out all the Fastpass+ reservations and what park we would be going to on what day etc.
I said, “Would you please just look at the paper, just to amuse me??”
He leans down over the paper. Five seconds later he looks up at me and says, “I looked at it!”
It was so cute, I could only laugh. So it really did amuse me! And made me happy as well
The only other thing that I decided was to cancel the BOG reservation. We were already spending money on the QS dining plan, and with such a short trip of only 4 days, I was afraid that we wouldn’t make good use of the plan if I had a ressie there, and that if we got there early enough on Sunday, we could try to go for lunch anyways.
The real thing in my mind that made me cancel was that I knew that I would be spreading magic to someone else who really wants to eat there I hope some little princess got it!! And I hope she tries the grey stuff. I’ve heard it’s delicious!! Yes, I can be corny and I know it
I have stopped showing DH my Disney plans. He is uninterested in my spreadsheets and plans. He is, however, grateful that I do all the planning. Because he hates waiting in long lines. Especially with the children.
