If you had to pick one Table Service (TS) restaurant out of these... - Page 2 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Cape may care would be my pick out if those choices, however you could always try Flying Fish for seafood, we did love Tutto when we ate there, Grand Floridian Cafe gets rave reviews (I am actually doing my birthday dinner there this year), & although I never tried it myself for dinner I hear Kona Cafe at the Poly is very good too. So many choices to pick from. We are doing a more relaxed trip this year as well no dining plan and just a few fav ADR. Happy planning !!

Kona Cafe is a great choice. It gets overlooked pretty often (althought that seems to be changing), but it's great. The bread and butter alone are worth going for (huge sweet loaf with macadamia nut butter). The steak I used to get is no longer offered (ginger crusted ribeye), but I've heard great things about the teriyaki NY strip.

We didn't like Prime Time at all. As a few others have mentioned, our service was poor and so was the food. It's the only restaurant at WDW we'd never go to again. But we eat at BierGarten and Teppan Edo every trip.... they're favorites of ours. Olivia's sounds yummy, but we've never tried it. Might have to look into that one come spring break.
My family loves 50's Prime Time. Not so much Cape May - even for a buffet, it seemed lacking. We haven't been to Olivia's in years, but did love it when we went.
Given those choices, I'd go with 50's PT and then Olivia's.
Out of those three, I would go with 50's Prime Time Café.
I am not a seafood fan and prefer Cape May's character breakfast. Last time I ate at Olivia's (and had the prime rib that is always raved about) it really wasn't all that good, IMO. :
I enjoy all three of those restaurants. I would pick Cape May Cafe--- I really love the seafood buffet. You can't go wrong with either of those those. We've eaten at Olivia's several times, and always loved it, and the same can be said for Prime Time.
I am in the minority but I can not stand 50s Prime Time - I've gone several times over the last few years (always giving it another shot because it's so unique!) but it's been TERRIBLE the last few times. Bad service, long waits, bad food. I would not go back.
The Biergarten is quite delicious and entertaining though! And I've heard good things about the Cape May Clam Bake
It's funny how experiences can vary so much from person to person! I would think they would want to be a little more consistent with their service and food! It's funny how Biergarten has gotten more votes, and it wasn't even on the list... but it's quickly moving up!

Was it the food? Service? What was disappointing about Cape May? We LOVE seafood, but can't do a 2 credit TS meal, nor do we want to pay for another OOP.

I found out that this is one of my niece's favorite places, and my dad liked it too! It's kind of moving down our list though, but not totally off just yet.

Olivia's was good, but not impressive, and it took soooo long to get there with Disney transportation. Of course, I didn't get the prime rib that night; maybe that would change my vote! However, with the other suggestions, Biergarten is a good choice too!
Another vote for Biergarten! Wasn't even one of the original 3 I asked about, but it's quickly moved to the top of my hubby's list!

Thanks for all of the great choices! We are doing relaxed also, but really wanted to try the DDP to have the meals pretty much taken care of BEFORE we left... less worries about budget.

It is still hanging on, but I'm afraid moving down the list. It sounds like a fun place, but we are thinking of trying some different foods (pot roast & meatloaf I make at home)... but we shall see! We still have time to decide!

I haven't looked at Teppan Edo's menu either... will have to check that one our too! Bierarten is quickly moving into the winning spot though!

Thanks for your input... funny how some have good experiences and some, not so much, at the same place!

Hmm... I think you like it there! Still keeping it in mind because of the seafood buffet!

We like seafood, so it's a plus for us that it's a buffet. We considered the breakfast, but decided that we didn't want to do too many big breakfasts before heading off into the parks... although, we do like our breakfast foods... give me breakfast for lunch or dinner and I am a happy camper!

I forgot to mention....when we eat at Teppan Edo, we do the hibachi dining, not regular. The food and chef are so good. And hey, at BierGarten, you've got a wonderful German buffet with a few American goodies too, and you can polka while you're there, and enjoy the entertainment while you dine. My guys would mutiny if we didn't hit those each trip.
Someone else mentioned Teppon Edo as well.... I plan to check out the menu!
Teppan Edo is my FAVORITE eatery on WDW property. You know that you are getting good, fresh, hot food because they are cooking it right in front of you (unlike some places where you wonder if they brought out something made earlier and reheated ) . . . and it's fun to watch too!
We just went to Cape May this summer and my family is asking to go back already. That said my oldest is a fiend for crab so she was a very happy girl and I am a New England transplant to central TX so I love to get my hands on any seafood when I'm out of town. We had some laughs at the Prime Time Café but the food didn't stand out as much as other places. The Biergarten is great fun too if you have a party who is willing to chicken dance
