A DREAM is a wish your heart makes – a First-time Cruise pre-trip report complete On the cruise ! - Page 2 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

None of us (my family) have ever been on a cruise - Disney or not, so this is all new to us.

I'm so excited Melissa booked the same cruise as us! She's the veteran amongst us so I'll be looking to her for help on the ship.

We couldn't go and not see a little bit of WDW.

Thanks! Weird thing is I'm not planning for this nearly as much as I do for a WDW vacation.

It's so funny about the kid's ages because Hope will be smack in the middle of the boys. For some reason I thought Dylan was still going to be 5, but I was off by a week. They can all watch out for each other in the clubs.
I figure since I already ahve a countdown going I can at least update once a week on that even if I have nothing else to contribute.
Their birthdays are exactly 2 weeks apart. Originally we were sailing the day after his 6th birthday. I'm sure they'll all get along great. I just hope Lukas can go to the clubs.

If you have read my PTRs in the past you know how I love to come up with fun ideas for a countdown to our trip. This year I’ll actually have 2, but I haven’t started the other one yet. I was reading another PTR (KHarrod’s) and she was doing a weekly dinner & a movie countdown to their trip. I thought it was a great idea and ‘borrowed’ it for our cruise. We have SO many Disney movies I had to narrow the list down. I decided to put more ‘water’ themed movies (Finding Nemo, Pirates, Little Mermaid) towards the end and then back fill with what may be relative and what the boys like. I started on May 18 which was about 21 weeks until the cruise. We do these mainly on Friday nights since we let the boys stay up later on the weekend. I put toether a ‘poster’ showing a picture of the movie and then have a dinner themed around that movie. The boys sit at their Cars table in the living room, Mike & I on the couch, and eat our themed dinner while watching the movie. They’re really getting into it, especially Dylan. I started telling them what we were having when I place their plate in front of them and if I forget, Dylan reminds me. So I know he’s paying attention.
Enough rambling, on to catch up on the last few weeks!
21 weeks to go – Muppet Treasure Island; Menu = Kermit’s Green Pond Punch (lemonade with green food coloring), The Swedish Chef’s Meatballs, Pigs in a Blanket, Rainbow Connection Fruit Skewer Swords, Gonzo’s Gargonzo Beans (Baked Beans) & Fozzie’s Banana Cream Pie with Buried Treasure (I think I just sliced real bananas for the buried treasure)
20 weeks to go – Alice in Wonderland (we watched both the classic animated & the Tim Burton versions); Menu = “Eat Me” - Tea sandwiches (boys had PB&J, Mike & I had tuna salad), White Rabbit’s Favorite Snack (carrots), Cheshire Cat Smiles (sliced apples with peanut butter & marshmallows), Gelatin Flowers (which did not turn out so we had “Painting the Roses Red” jello instead), “Drink Me” - Tea & Juice, & Very Merry Unbirthday Cupcakes
19 weeks to go – The Avengers; menu = Hero Sub Sandwiches, Thor’s Hammers (pretzel sticks in cheese cubes), Iron Man Computer Chips (potato chips), Hulk Transforming Drink (lemonade with green food coloring again, but this time I showed the boys how it changed), & Captain America’s Red, White & Blue Dessert (white cake with cool whip, strawberries & blueberries)
Before
During
After
18 weeks to go – Brave; menu = A Scottish Breakfast – eggs, sausage, ‘Aberdeen Rowies’ (biscuits) with ‘Dundee Marmalade’ (in our case it was homemade (bought) blueberry jam), & Shortbread Cookies (with chocolate & peanut butter chips)
17 weeks to go – Cars 2; menu = A World Tour: England – Fish & Chips (fries); Japan – Fruit Sushi (another failed attempt, so it was placed in a bowl); Italy – Italian Soda; France – Eclairs
And now you’re caught up as tomorrow will be the 16 weeks to go themed dinner & a movie night. So stay tuned for the movie & menu!
I loved the idea when I saw KHarrod do it for her countdown and I still love it now that you are doing it I may have the "borrow" this idea for our next Disney vacation too! It's awesome that the boys are getting into it. It's fun when kids get involved and you get to see their excitement. Can't wait to see what tomorrows menu is

Wonderful idea and great dinner choices for food and movies. I'm sure the boys love it (I know I would!) and the excitement will just build as you get closer and start watching the "water" movies.
I love it and you're getting really creative with the menu! I'm going to "borrow" your transforming punch if you don't mind. I think Sean would get a kick out of watching the lemonade turn green.
You know I love the dinner and a movie theme night.
I've also probably told you how much Brenda and I loved our Disney Cruise. We still rave about it. I'm glad you chose the 4 night cruise because you won't want it to end ... and, of course, AKL before and after ... just a Dream coming true!
Sometimes it's just the thought that counts with the "didn't turn out as planned" food items
I say at least I tried and spin it in to something new. It all ends up in the same place anyway.

I can't believe it's all happening! I know we'll love it. The bad part will come when we have to wait for the next one.

Like I told you when you were posting all of these on FB, you're an awesome mom. I'd steal this idea if we were actually telling Hope about our upcoming Disney cruise because I think this is a fabulous countdown idea. Maybe I use it for our May trip next year since she already knows that's coming. I may need your help with the ideas though.
