As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

As a kid, we had dogs (lots of "Hey mom, it followed me home, can I keep it?") cats, mice, gerbils, hamsters, a rabbit, and I vaguely recall some birds.
Since being married we've had; 4 dogs, 7 cats, 4 hamsters, 2 lizards, and a mule (which thankfully lives on a small farm owned by friends).
currently: two cats (mischief), (spike), dog: samantha (dachshund) the three of them are the best of friends, rub each others heads, sleep together, its so cute

No pets growing up. We gave DS a springer spaniel when he was 9 years old. She was just the best dog ever! Unfortunately we had to put her down when she was 11 due to cancer. That was back in 2002 and we haven't had another dog since.
Yay that other people have had rats! I had a slew of different pets growing up, and right now I have 4 rats, 7 cats, and a horse. Rats are fantastic pets and I make a point of telling that to anyone who'll listen. :P

Growing up I had a dog, guinea pigs, fish and a cat. I currently don't own a pet. My cat died 4 years ago (he was 18) and I work at a vet's office, so I get my fill of animals every day.
Both cats have been black -- I can't imagine any other kind.
Both of the cats we had growing up were black too and I feel the same way!! In fact, the younger of the two just passed away last year (she was 20 yrs old) and it just so happens that my sister's cat had kittens and the only one she hasn't found a home for yet is black. She's certain it's a sign that the kitten needs to go live with my parents. My parents, however, are not so convinced...

Growing up I had a dog..a mutt who had to be tied up because he would runaway. Back in 1996 I bought a female Boxer who was the most amazing dog I ever owned. Protective, playful, loyal, and very beautiful for a Boxer. in 2001 she was taken from my mom's home after I left her there while I put up the cedar fence at my house. In 2005 I bought a male Boxer who was an obedient dog that had a fierce bark and looked very menacing. But he was a puddy-tat around kids. When JG (DS) was 2.5 yrs, Achilles would obey JG's non-verbal hand signals. He ran away after Hurricane Dolly hit us.
Current - cat.
Past - a LOT of cats, some dogs, the usual gerbils and hampsters. At one point had some white mice - not because I wanted them, but because DD Teresa wanted a snake! We were dirt poor and I knew we couldn't afford to buy mice regularly to feed one, so struck a bargain with her: if she could establish a mouse colony so we'd have snake food, I would get her a snake. I am glad to report that she had exactly the success I'd hoped for, and the snake never materialized!

Growing up we had a dag once, rabbits, hamster's and a chinchilla !!!
In our home we have had a couple dog's & Parrot's in the past. We mostly are a cat house and that is what we have and will stick with
As a kid we had a Saint Bernard, a German Shepard, and Collie, and a boxer (not all at the same time). I have also had tropical fish. My sister had a cat, a crazy cat.
Our current pets are two mixed breeds - lab mixes. And two gold fishes.
