As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Sorry you had such a rough time. We learned a couple years ago...NEVER go to Epcot Food and Wine on a Friday or Saturday!!! :
I'm surprised to hear Disney honored the tickets for the party, it says no refunds due to weather when you buy them.
Hope your days get better!
Yes - I was actually surprised that they offered to exchange tickets as well - we were originally suppose to have gone to our party on Thurs 10/4 - turned into a torrential downpour with thunder and lightning and they had quite the line for exchanging tickets - they gave us the option of Friday or Monday and we were able to chose Monday - as I knew that Friday night would be BUSY - But I was so surprised, and thought we would just be out of luck and have to deal with the weather -
Sorry to "hijack"

We had similar experiences last year at MNSSHP and Epcot Food and Wine Festival. The party was extremely busy to the point it was not fun. They seem to sell more tickets than they should. The food and wine festival should be avoided on a Friday.

Sorcerors of the Magic Kingdom: My kids had the best time playing this game. It was time consuming and I probably would have had more time to ride all the rides at MK if we didn't play but kids really wanted to play. My kids felt left out because they didn't have a book to keep their cards in like a lot of the players had. I was surprised to learn that Disney didn't have an official binder. I bought a card holder at Walmart when we got back. There can be long lines at some of the portals. I am sure that the lines at the portals will even be worse as the game gains in popularity.
Photopass+- We had 3 character meals this trip so we decided to upgrade to photopass+. It was great, we got the photo packages from our meals which runs around $32 a package. We also were able to add ride photos to the photopass a digital download is $15 each. We however only had a total of 60 pictures when we got home on our photopass. The lines at the photographers were kinda long and if it was raining the photographers werent out so we missed out on a lot of pictures. I know in the past I have had close to 200 pictures on our photopass. I still think photopass+ is an excellent value when doing character meals.
sorry it took so long since my last post, October is a busy month for us. My hubby works at a Haunted House at a local campgraound on weekends and because of that we get to go camping every weekend for free. This year even my kids are working to scare people. Not every kid is willing to get inside a coffin and jump out at people. We also have soccer practices and games. (This weekend is the last one) We have cubscouts and boyscouts on Mondays (not counting activities) Then on top of all that work is in full swing preparing for the Holiday Shopping Season.
So now on the biggest tragedy of our whole trip. It put a damper on the last day. My youngest son lost his squishy pillow. He has had this pillow since he was born. (It isn't really the same pillow, since the original had fallen apart and we had to take the old pillow and put it inside a zipper pillow case and added new fluff. We had to do this several times) On the morning of our departure Bell Services came to our room to help us get to the custom house. It was such a chaotic thing. We are pretty sure he took it down to the bell services van. My husband checked the room and he didn't see anything left behind. We went to the customs house for flight check in. That is where we lost squishy, we think. He was either in the Van or at the customs house. We then proceeded to Contemporary for breakfast. (FYI not the easiest place to get to using transportation from resort) (Magic Kingdom buses were not coming to pick up so we thought we could catch a DTD bus then catch a bus to the contemporary, not true. DTD said that buses to resorts didn't start running until after 11 which I thought was crazy and there are no buses to themeparks from there. So we went to POFQ and caught the bus to MK there. Then took monorail to contemporary. Was only 5 minutes late for our ADR) After breakfast we went to DTD for shopping and my brother met us there for our goodbyes. We left DTD and went back to our resort. The bus at the resort didn't go to the stop closest to customs house first that would have been the last stop, so we hopped off the bus. No internal shuttle to be seen. We had to walk to the customs house, to make sure we didn't miss Magical Express. We weren't alone, others were having the same issue. We walked all the way to the customs house. The first bus for the magical express was full so they brought another one. We were put on that one. Well another family who decided to stay on the resort bus from DTD until it got to the stop closest to the custom house they missed that Magical Express.
We were seated on the bus and we start to go to the airport. My son looks at me and says where is squishy. There was panic and lots of tears. I got on my phone and called the resort. They checked the bell services vans and checked lost and found no luck. They put a claim in for it. They said if it turns up that they would call us. My son was devastated but was hopeful that when we got home there would be a message that his pillow was found. There wasn't. for the first week we were home he cried himself to sleep every night. I went out and bought a new zippered pillow case and fluff to try to remake a substitue squishy. It didn't help. Even now he asks me why God took his pillow away. I told him that maybe it was to show him that he didn't need it and that he was strong without. He said that was a cruel lesson to teach a 10 year old. It has been very rough.
