What don't people understand about queues? - Page 2 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

It is sad, isn't it? I try not to be the queue police because it just gives too much power to people I shouldn't be thinking about - but GRRRRR!!!
A few nights ago at Disneyland there were just incredible lines to get into the park - all of us AP people coming in for a few hours. Anyway, just as we're almost to the turnstile, a young woman comes up and says, "Can I just go up there to see if my party has gotten in? I lost them." Now mind you she has just bypassed about 75 people to get up to us.
I said, pointing to the gate where they let the strollers in, "Sure, I guess you can stand over there and look." She looked at me like I was nuts. My husband said,"I think she wants to go in before us."
I said, "Yes, I know what she really wants, but she needs to ask the multitudes behind us if they're ok with that."
Honestly!!! And mostly this problem was at the water parks. At TL we were waiting for tubes, and a couple walks in front of us and helps themselves. I said excuse me but we were waiting. Woman turns to me and says, it's no big deal, 2 people cutting but go ahead if you want. What??? Like I'm the wrong one.
Waiting for a tube for lazy river at BB a woman and her family just walked past about 8 people waiting in line for a tube, waded right into the river scooping up tubes
What's the matter with people?
I think I would have responded to the it's no big deal line with, "Then, I guess it's no big deal for you to have to wait your turn in line like everyone else!" It irritates me how many people in the world today act as if the rules apply to everyone but them. Selfish, indeed!

Last year when DH and I were at Disneyland there was no line at splash mountain, so you could just walk right on the ride. Well there was a family of 5 or 6 who decided to walk through the whole que. We walked right on the ride by the fastpass entrance where the cm was standing and the family saw us and accused us of being line cutters. DH yelled back at them "no, we are just smart enough to realize that the que was closed"..... I was so embarrassed even though I knew we were in the right. I still felt like a line cutter:/

I will admit, that line can be a little bit confusing. Use the entrance up near Hungry Bear? Or is the entrance down near Pooh's Hunny Hunt? Obviously, if I was already down near Hunny Hunt and saw that the line was open right there, I'd go on in and not walk back up that hill. I find your DH yelling at the family kinda funny

ok lets think about this were u taught manners or were taught to be selfness. I was raised to be a good person and I raiseed my children to be a good person.
My husband gets so embarrassed when I address line cutters. He calls it my teacher voice which it is, but I try to be as nice as possible. The other day at a local park, several young kids including my son were waiting for their turn on a bouncy. After waiting over ten minutes, a child came out, then a preteen ran right by the line and into the bouncy. So I calmly but confidently walked to the opening and said " honey, you must have been so excited you missed the line! Please come out and allow these little children to have their turn." She stared at me so I then said, "come out, it's not your turn". Another parent thanked me for speaking up and hubs stood aside embarrassed. I just can't stand it when people cut lines and I figure if parents won't teach their kids, I will.
Way To Go! I would've peaked in and in a loud voice said, "really I thought these bouncys were to young for older kids. I guess they like them like the little kids in
line do".
I'm teaching my kids the right ways to behave in life, and that includes waiting your turn. Even my 4 year old is starting to notice people not following the rules and asks me why they aren't. I tell him they're being rude and that is not the proper way to act.

I work at a fast casual restaurant where it is cafeteria style you get in line and we make your sandwich, salad,or soup for you as you move down the line then pay at the cashier, well when it is busy the cashier gets backed up so even if you have your food you are still in the same line waiting to pay. We help everyone in order so we do not miss anyone but some ppl feel like they can get out of line and skip all of the ppl in front of them that are waiting for the same thing and go first. I actually have to tell adults to not cut in line! What is worse is someone calling from their car and saying "I will be right in" and also expect to cut to the front of the line. Sorry ppl you still have to wait your turn! Some ppl get mad saying that the cashier is slow but what slows that section down are the ppl who get there and "forgot" they have to pay so they have to dig around their purse and find the money etc. Those are the ones that slow everyone down. So it is not just on vacation where ppl cut in line and forget their manners, I also think alot of society feels entitled nowadays. This makes me sad to raise my kids in this kind of society.

It was where you go inside and up the stairs. In like a shack in that part of splash mountain.i think that's by the pooh thing right? It was 11:something at night in the low 60s so there was no line.
I too have experienced this. Sadly it is just not at Disney.
You know those stickers that one puts on the back of their car?*In loving memory of..*
My husband wants to get one that says *In Loving Memory of Common Sense and Decency*.
Now here is my take on it, maybe I am getting old and more mellow, who knows? but I think about these things.
1-Are they obviously foreign? Because they may not understand. ( Or pretend not to -I am not naive.)
2-Are they young? Maybe they have not had this type of experience before and/or they have had nobody to teach them poor dears.
3-Or are they just plain self-entitled?
By the time I have considered these things I am over it. But usually quite sadder.
It still bothers me though. Which is why I have gotten to where the only time I will stand in line or deal with crowds if I absolutely do not have to is Disney.
#3. They were all adults, first couple I'd say we're in early 30s, second woman was in her 60's maybe. All spoke English very well. Not foreign at all.
Working retail I have met quite a few people with a sense of entitlement. they think they are better than anyone else and you should drop everything to serve them. The problem is they are raising children to be just like them. Drives me crazy.
Sorry for your experience
Very true. Was at BB again this afternoon. Just try getting a tube for the wave pool Every time I tried to get a tube, very obviously heading over to get an empty tube, a kid would scoop it up before I could get it. One young 12? Yr old girl ran right in front of me as I was asking if a person was done with the tube, and started asking over me, like I wasn't there. I looked right at her and said, you realize that I was here first don't you? Ugh.
So yeah, they are raising their children to be rude, manner less people just like them.
