Since Lenny stopped working at the car wash, I actually do less laundry (I couldn't wash the car wash stuff with any "good" clothes) but I still do roughly 7 loads a week of just clothes and towels. Sheets average another 5 to 6. We have a king size bed and usually use 2 quilts and/or comforters at a time which each require their own load. Abby's in a full bed and the loads/sizes depend upon what she uses (bedspread, quilt or comforter).

Whoa! Are you all counting sheets and towels? I do a minimum of 14 loads per week for the 5 of us. That's all linen and towels (we have a pool so in summer its more loads). No dry cleaning for us anymore.

I started to be shocked by the 14 loads per week then I remember when all my kids were still living at home! We did between 16-18 loads per week. Now it's around 7-8 loads.

Well, I do about 10-13, and the I think other people in the house run about 3-6.
Yes, we're dirty people. Part of it comes from the fact that the girls and I refuse to re-use a towel. And we all have long hair, so when we bathe, it's a washcloth and 2 towels. DD Lauren takes 1-5 showers a day, depending on what she's doing. I average 2. Plus, DH and I both wear uniforms to work but change when we get home. Jammies only get worn 1-2 times.

We average about 6 loads a week

Probably about 3-4 loads with all washables counted. I'm okay with reusing towels a couple times before they are "dirty" and the bedding gets washed once a week. But then, I don't sort my laundry. I grew up without a washer and dryer, so when we went to the laundromat, we would just cram everything in together to keep costs down. I guess it helps that we don't have very many white items.

I feel so much better after getting to the responses on page 2 - for a minute I was thinking we were odd balls.

There are two of us - and like Theresa's family, we do not use our bath towels more than once. I change our bed linens twice a week. I have two dogs and I wash their bedding (blankets and bed coverings) twice a week. My husband has at least three loads of clothes per week (I don't send his shirts or slacks out for laundering anymore). I also have three. I have kitchen & dining room linens that I always wash separately, and I have cleaning rags and my floor steamer covers that I wash every week.

So, when I add it up I have a minimum of 13 loads per week - not counting the machine cleaning cycles I run after washing the dog laundry. Fortunately our washing machine adjusts the water level automatically based on load size, so I'm not wasting (much) water. I used to use a fluff and fold service, but since I don't really work outside the home anymore I have time to do this myself.

So true for me too!! With the summer being here it seems like i do quite a few of towels, bathing suits & rashguards which adds to the list. Now I'm going to have to keep count and then probably need a glass of wine when I realize how much time I spend in the basement!! (I iron almost everything)
