Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Hi: Great Start! I've done the Chacchoben Ruins 2 yrs ago. It was a very last min. excursion as our ship was re-routed to this port due to a hurricane. My DD picked this one & I wasn't too excited about it, but we all really enjoyed it. We went in August, so it was super hot & muggy. We were told to bring bug spray, which we were glad we did. It was very interesting, & not too long of a day. There are shady areas along the route that you can escape to. I'm like you & burn easily, so sometimes I feel like I move from shade to shade when we're out in the sun! Can't wait to read more of your plans.

We did ruins in Costa Maya. Definitely a good plan as Costa Maya is actually a made up port - created by the cruise industry. So it's pretty touristy. Better to see the ruins.
I recommend the turtle farm in Grand Cayman. You get to hold them, if you can catch them. Warning, though, our son ended up with holes in his shirt from their legs/flippers!

Great start!!!

So sorry about your leg

We just did a Western Caribbean cruise (not Disney - it was NCL) a few weeks ago - still about it being over..................sigh..............

Anyway - we went to Grand Cayman, Ochos Rios & Cozumel -

In Grand Cayman, we did a tour that brought us to the Turtle Farm - HIGHLIGHT of our trip!!!! We LOVED it!!! But of course, my DD and I are avid sea turtle lovers anyway - but being able to hold those little guys was just such an experience!!! The same tour also brought us to the Rum Cake place where we taste tested rum cakes - and then to Hell..............(look it up if you haven't heard of it - some people think it's riduculous - we thought it was interesting!) the whole tour was only about 2.5 hours, so we had plenty of time to explore a bit on our own, go to Margaritaville and the beach!

In Cozumel - we did a Mayan Ruins and Beach break tour - which sound similar to what you might be looking at? It brought us to San Gervasio Ruins - which are smaller ruins, but we had never seen any - so it was very neat and interesting for us - and the iguanas there were so impressive!!! (Again - we love animals and nature!) and then the Beach Break was a little secluded type of place over on the East Coast of the island (very NICE breeze there!) with a mexican buffet, pool and beach (it was quite rocky - would recommend water shoes) but it was very nice to be able to see the "country-side" of Cozumel. Again, this tour I believe was 4 hours, so we had time to shop in the Port and drinks and apps at Carlos & Charlies (highly recommmend their beef nachos and shrimp ceviche!!! YUM!)

Have fun planning!!!! Can't wait to hear all about it!!! We absolutely LOVED Grand Cayman!!! Want to go back so bad!!!!

I think that Chaccohben is about the only thing that we are certain of at this time. That and some shopping at Grand Cayman.

Heather is really interested in the turtles so that is a possiblity. I think there is room enough for turtles and shopping.

Thanks so much for all the info. We were looking at the tour of the San Gervasio Ruins which included a trip to a tequila place and El Mira, a scenic place on the beach. We'll have to check out Carlos & Charlies. Sounds like my kind of place.

I am so sorry for such a long gap between posts. My explanation is written on my May 2nd post.

Today is my 23rd anniversary and here I sit about to continue my PTR. Dan went to work around an hour ago. his usual time. But don't fret for me. Dan took yesterday off and we enjoyed a nice dinner and a couple of drinks. I've been writing but not posting so now it's back to business.

4/24/2012
So where did I leave off? Oh yes…shopping. This being our first 7 night cruise I knew that we would be faced with a formal night and to tell the truth I’m really excited about this. Of course I had nothing to wear that would fit the formal category so I started looking earlier this year. What am I talking about, more like as soon as I stepped off the Dream last October. Lol! I do a lot of my clothes shopping online and I probably return about half as much as I keep. I immediately found a gown that I loved and after some procrastinating decided to purchase it and the fact that I had a 40% off coupon made the buy even sweeter. I received it in about 7 days and hurried off in secret to try it on. Dan and Heather were both home when I emerged in my new dress and when I saw his jaw drop and Heather’s smile I knew I had a keeper.
Black Gown with Silver appliqué

I also got these shoes and just recently this wrap to complete my ensemble

Here’s hoping that I will be able to withstand these small heels by sailing time.
Shortly after I saw a cocktail dress that I thought would be great for semi-formal night but being shorter (to the knee to be exact) I again wondered about my leg since most of the time I have to wear a wrap around my lower calf for support and to ease occasional muscle pain. My purchases included a pair of black skinny jeans, a cute black sequined top, a white top with black bead work, plus I also have some things I never wore on the last cruise including an adorable gray angel top. I took a long look at my wardrobe and realized, wow…such a lack of color. Black, gray, white. Even my dress was a gradient of black to gray. So….I bought a pair of red satin, beaded sandals. Like those are going to help anyway, right? I also have a black pair. If you’re wondering, “Whoa, Linda…3 pairs of dress heels???” Well…Heather and I wear the same size shoe so we plan to mix and match as needed.
Lack of color but at least I have red shoes

Now those of you who read my last PTR might remember the story of Heathers green gown and if it would ever arrive. After several months it finally did and she quite happy to wear this one again. But while on the shopping prowl I found a gown that was very simple and elegant and thought she would like it, which she did. It came in one of her favorite colors…orange. Not bright and tacky but just right. It also came from England but only took about 10 days to arrive. So now we are eyeing another gown which I think she would look great it. I haven’t sent for it yet but I’m seriously thinking about it. Plus one more for a casual sea day…maybe Palo brunch?
A reminder of Heathers green gown

Orange Gown

Black with water color top…it’s all one piece

What do you think of this one?

Heather also has her prom dress which she looked so good in but she has lost so much weight that it hangs on her and though I sew I’m not sure about tackling this one.
O course I haven’t forgotten Dan. The thing with guys is that they seem to have so much hanging around that they don’t wear. In my hubby’s case he has dress and casual pants, polo shirts in many colors as well as dress shirts and he’s a blue collar worker who destroys his t-shirts and jeans on the job. The only thing he wants is a new suit and a pair of comfy dress shoes. We’ll rent him a tux before we board the Fantasy. By the way…he doesn’t want the traditional tux…he wants the white dinner jacket. But I think he will look pretty sharp.J
I also have some bling. The necklace and earrings was something I really wanted and had to search the web for days before I finally ran across it. (Ebay had already sold their last set) I finally found it at a bridal outlet.
Chunky crystal stretch bracelet

Crystal Cuff

Pendant and Earrings

May 2nd…continuing…
I’ve been a bit distracted and haven’t even posted the first part of this so I thought I’d just add it on. Why so distracted you ask? Well to make a long story short, I recently found that my photo sharing site was hacked and hundreds of my Disney designs destroyed by alteration or just plain deleted. I haven’t a clue as to why anyone would do such a thing. My files are there for all to enjoy as I make designs for Disney and non…t-shirts, magnets, invitations…you name it. But I am moving on with another photo site and things are looking up.
The dress we were thinking about for Heather has been officially ordered. It comes from China so it will be a few days before we receive it. My dear husband Daniel has been working out straight. This week alone he has been working 14 hour nights. I haven’t even seen him much. But he has made me a promise to take this Sunday off as it will be our 23rd anniversary and we plan on going out to celebrate. We’ll share an evening on our cruise this October to commemorate our years together, regardless of the 5 month gap. It’s still fun and so romantic.

As of today there has been a little more shopping, but that part has wound down. Heather and I started our diets today. 15 pounds for each of us though I don't know how she could ever loose one more ounce. I also purchased our MNSSHP tickets on May 1st. I called and they were available so I got them. They were available online the next morning. One more bit of shopping and I'm done. I found a casual dress for one of my sea days. Finally a splash of color.

So now that I've bored you all with my shopping I'll let you go. In the mean time I'm waiting for dates for our airport limo, I have to get DCL insurance for our cruise. (Tip: when you book onboard...insurance not included and if I'm to understand from the cruise threads here I can still get insured as long as we are not paid in full.)I also need to get my DME in order. So a few things in line to be done. It's getting closer...can you tell I'm excited?

Love all the dresses! So sorry about your site being hacked! Karma will find that person for such a stupid thing! I clicked on both your sites and I bookmarked them as I am always looking for things like that. You really have great designs!
