As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We started the 7th by splitting an order of Tonga Toast at Kona Cafe then heading to Epcot for our second visit of the trip.
For lunch we visited Le Celier. Here we had our favorite meal on the plan to this point, the food was great and our waitress was a lot of fun. I started the meal with Cheese Soup, then had the NY Strip, Poutine, and finished by sharing a dessert of Maple Creme Brule with my wife. My wife had Crab Dip, and the Mushroom Filet.
We both felt the steaks were outstanding (my wife loved the mushroom rissotto) and will definately be eating here again on our next trip. As a quick note the Maple Creme Brule was a bit sweet but was still tasty.
Dinner was the only dissapointment of the trip. We ate at Restaurant Marakesh and felt the food was just okay. We shared a meal here after stuffing ourselves for lunch. We started with Seafood Bastilla, next had a shish kebab, and finished with a Baklavah.
Today our favorite, by far, was Le Celier, and we were dissapointed in Marakesh (felt the food was a little bland). Our next trip to Epcot will involve trying more restaurants to continue eating our way around the world.

So jealous of your wife's seafood pasta!
I'm a foodie and have had more than my share of excellent food, but I still dream of that pasta!
I am hoping it is still on the menu when we go in December!
On the 8th we ate some of the leftovers we had in our room for breakfast then headed out to Hollywood studios.
For lunch we had Mama Melrose with the Fantasmic package. My wife had Mixed Green Salad, Chicken Campanelle, and we shared a dessert combo of a chocolate cake and my favorite dessert of the trip, the Amarettini Cheesecake. For my meal I had the Clams Oreganatta, and the Charred Strip Steak. We were very pleased with this meal after reading some of the reviews for this restaurant. We enjoyed the atmosphere, food, and service so we will visit Mama Melrose's againg.
For dinner we ate at the 5o's Cafe, and split another meal. Here we had the Seafood Salad, Mom's Sampling of chicken, pot roast, and meat loaf, and finished with the Boston Cream Parfait. OUr waiter played the part of our cousin and introduced us to the rest of the family sitting near us. This was an enjoyable meal with fun service.
Both meals at Hollywood Studios were very good with great service. We were very pleased with our choices here, and we got prefered seating to Fantasmic to top it all off.

On the 9th we visited the Magic Kingdom again and started with breakfast at Crystal Palace before the park opened (Pooh was great and by going early we got some great pictures in front of the castle without the crowds). For lunch we ate at Liberty Tree where we shared a meal of Fried Cheese, New England Pot Roast, and the Toffee Cake.
For dinner we went to California Grill (our new favorite restaurant at Disney). We can not say enough good things about Cali Grill. Everything about the place was great, and it had our favorite waiter of the trip. At Cali Grill we split the Yoshie Sushi Plater, then went our seperate ways with the meals. My wife had the crab stack, Oak fired Filet of Beef, and Bananas & Caramel. I had the Goat Cheese Ravioli, Cast Iron Seared Bison, and got the Strawberry Cheese Cake to go. Our waiter brought out an extra desert for us because he said you need chocolate with the bananas so he gave us a chocolate cake on the house. Not only was the food and service excellent, but we ate here during Wishes and loved the view from the observation deck and when we got back to our table we could see some of Illuminations at EPCOT from the table.
We recommend Cali Grill to anyone going to Disney.
After Cali Grill our waiter told us how many meal credits we had left so I added two meals. The first one I added was breakfast on the 10th at Tusker House with Donald Duck. This was probably our favorite breakfast buffett. The only thing I don't understand about the character meals is why some include the picture and other sell it as an extra. To me Disney missed the spot here, I would include the picture with every character meal since they print it anyway (that way they don't have to put the unbought pictures in the trash). Oh well, now to the rest of the day. For lunch we had Yak & Yeti. We shared the Dim Sum Basket, my wife had the Crispy Honey Chicken, and the Fried Wontons for dessert. I had the Shaoxing Steak & Shrimp, and the Fried Wontons. We were pleased with this meal, and the Wontons were everything people had built them up to be, delicious.
For dinner we went to Artist Point. My wife had the Beet Salad, Buffallo Strip Loin Steak, and the upside-down cake. I had the Penn Cove Mussels, Angus Beef Tenderloin, and the Cobbler. The food here was very good, just not memorable, so we will try a different signature resteraunt on our next trip.
On the 11th we left after lunch, but started the day with Chef Mickey's (another place they should include the picture, especially since it is with a statue). For lunch we had the second restaurant that I added, Raglan Road. My wife had the Scallop Forest, Shepherd's Pie, and Bread & Butter Pudding. I had the Calamari City, Fish & Chips, and Brule Tart. Our favorite part of this meal was the desserts although all the food was good (The Brule was unique and tasty as it was more like a creme brule pie with a custard texture).
After all of these meals I have to admitt that the Disney Meal plan got the best of me and I relinquish my belt. To make matters worse, we left Disney with six meal credits left unused.
We did however get our moneys worth and more and are more than happy with the meals. I would recommend the meal plan to anyone going to Disney if you plan on having sit-down meals and experiencing the Signature Restaraunts.
We had a great honeymoon, are already planning our next trip to Disney, and mapping out what restaurants we are going to try. Overall we ate at 21 different establishments and had the time of our life trying to eat our way around Diseny World.
I hope everyone enjoyed this read and if anyone has beat the deluxe meal plan let me know (I want to congratulate you).
Great Reviews!! We did Victoria and Albert's (Queen Victoria Dining Room) on our last trip. We saved all our rewards $$ we earned and splurged on that meal. If I had to actually "pay" for it, I don't think I could have enjoyed it as much!!! It was better using our rebate $$ or whatever you want to call them to foot the bill.
I agree also, that Cali Grill is one of our favorites as well. DH ordered the goat cheese ravioli on a trip in 2008, good to see it's still on the menu. It was TO DIE FOR GOOD, and he wouldn't share more than a bite with me....grouch!!
In all, it sounds like you got a great variety of restaurants worked in. I'm confused about one point though...you mention sharing a lot of meals together...I thought you couldn't share meals on the DDP, or have I confused that rule? You're allowed to share a meal, but not with those who are not on the DDP? I know that you can choose to pay for a meal for a member of your party OOP, and "bank" that credit, but I thought that flat out sharing between 2 people was a no-no. Not being critical of you or anything, if they let you do it, they let you do it...I just want to make sure I understand correct sharing etiquette!!!
At the point where I knew I could not finish a whole meal by myself, I asked the waiter/waitress at the restaraunts if we were able to share a meal. Each time I asked they said it was no problem as long as both of us were on the Delux meal plan and checked our cards. I guess as long as both are on the Deluxe plan it is okay to share and bank a credit, but if one is not on the plan then we would not have been able to share. I just made sure to ask each time before ordering. In fact each restaraunt brought out extra plates to split the meal, and Libert Tree brought the shared meal out pre divided onto seperate plates. I did not know if there was rule against it so I made sure to ask.
I've always heard as long as you are not sharing with someone who is not on the DP, it is ok to share (whether on deluxe or regular). As long as you are not at a buffet or family style meal of course.

Wow! You really had some good eats! Congrats on your wedding! We usually get the QSDP when we go just to avoid having many sit down restaurants with the kids. Would love to get the chance though someday to try to eat my way around the World! Enjoyed reading your TR.
