As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Not Disney related, but it reminded me of a recent experience.
About a month ago my friends and I went to Red Lobster for dinner. There was a line of people waiting to be checked in at the podium. A woman and man walked in behind us and then pushed by us. I initially thought they were just joining their group, but then they stepped in front of us at the podium after the family in front of us were done giving their names. I was like , seriously?
When she turned around to walk away with her pager I said to her and to the woman at the podium "not to be rude, but there was a line of people you just jumped in front of." The woman just shrugged and walked off. But the girl at the podium was like, really? And she highlighted the womans name and drew a big arrow that bumped her name down about 3 spots on the list. She took our names and we did indeed get seated before that woman. So, yay karma!
As you can see I have no problem opening my big mouth and if someone just walked to the front of a line that was already formed to get on the bus, there would be words. But yes, she was probably one of those "entitled" people.
Well, I hope you gave her a big smile. and a shrug as you walked by her to be seated

It's sometimes hard to know the order of who got there first, etc. Esp when many are sitting on the benches or just milling about. I can't keep track, but it is very rude, yes, to go push yourself up to the front of the line, esp when there are families with strollers & young children.
Many times on the buses I've noticed people, esp the men, get up to give the seat to a mom with young ones.
I would have glared at the woman and give her the stink eye.
But maybe she had a problem with standing on the bus? You never know. I have acute tendonitis in my knee, and have to wear a knee brace, and sometimes standing on a bus can get painful. But you'd never know by looking at me, unless I'm wearing shorts.
I usually stay at POP where there is an actual line for the bus, however, at the end of the evening at the parks, people can get pushy. I'm not a very tall person, but I'm very good at using my body to block people, particularly, if there is a family with little ones or others who have been waiting a long time. Waiting isn't fun, and I have a bad knee, but still, I really dislike rude people. I'm very good at making it known that they are being rude.
I politely explain where the end of the line is at. If they no budget then I get in front of them. I have broad hips so accidents happen and in lines nobody can get past me except the tikes, lol. The only way to stop line jumper is to get a mob screaming END OF THE LINE. People often think the line jumper is part of a group. Asking who they are with stops them usually. Worst was a herd of people who were going through the Jungle Cruise line at Disneyland. They were pushing past people on the stairs so my wide hips kept half them at bay on the stairs.

Mom calls to check on me and reminded me to pay the gardener. I love her so much.
Disneyland was fun with flag retreat and pickles. I have a home here, thank you. GAC is NOT a "front of the line pass".
She is gone but keeping signature. Laundry is getting done. My purpose in life is to help poor people in FL. Farewell, will miss you.

Thanks for a Different perspective. I usually get really annoyed people sitting when older or little ones are forced to stand, but I will think of this next time
What really annoys me is when I KNOW the person not willing to give up his/her seat to a parent or older person. We went with friends twice and my friend's hubby sat every time. He refused to give up his seat to anyone. I would be on the bus and see a family walk on with children and my hubby would stand and so would I (if my kids were not sleeping in my lap). I had a 2 year old and a 1 year old at the time. I would usually ask my friend or her husband to please hold one of my children so I could stand and let another mother with a sleeping baby or an elderly person sit. Still no offer to stand and let me sit?!?!?:0. Crazy rude!
Usually some people will be sitting on the benches, or just observing the area and chatting, and then when the bus they are waiting for starts pulling in they will move closer to the area where you get on.
This is how most deluxes work, definitely. They tend to have fewer guests and the queue for the buses at the resorts aren't a problem -- everyone gets on.
It's pretty much the same at the mods, but there are more people per bus. Unless there's a massive crowd, the people waiting will get on. And if there's a massive crowd, the line tends to form early... long before the bus turns the corner.

I'll usually say something along the lines of; "I'm sorry. You must not have noticed the line in your excitement over getting to (MK, AK, DHS< EPCOT). The end of the line is that way (pointing)." It almost always works. They're too stunned someone would call them on it, and usually just embarrassed enough to move on down the line..
We always give our seats up for anyone with children - I've made my girls give up their seats since they could keep their balance on the bus! OF course, part of that is because DD Samantha's wheelchair is already taking up 3 spaces - We usually all stand near the chair or the other kids would sit on Samantha's lap when they were little.
.....we are devout "POP" people...and I like that there is a designated people corral at the resort that keeps the line pretty organized.
....HOWEVER at the parks..it's a different story...particularly at the POP bus stop at EPCOT. For starters..the stop just may as well be in Siberia (it's a LONG way from the exit gates). And I do know it's a LONG walk after you leave the park and are heading back to the resort.....but it's a long walk for everyone. So when I walk to the stop..and there's NO ONE on the line...I walk right to the front and wait. There are sometimes people there ahead of me (us) who will be sitting on the benches NEAR the bus stop. When the bus comes....and they feel that they were "there" first...and get up and walk to the front AHEAD OF ME...I say something...usually loudly. IF...the line WAS the BENCHES...then there would be benches for everyone. Just because you felt that you were More Tired than me....then fine..YOU MADE YOUR CHOICE....that was YOUR PRIORITY TO SIT DOWN...mine...was to STAND ON LINE...so that I could possibly get a seat on the bus.
...my 22 yr old daughter now tells me that in my "old age" (almost 51)...that I've lost all "my filters" that stop me from saying things. Lost "filters" or not...I don't care. Of course...SHE...when seeing a "line jumper" will loudly start reciting the lines from "A Christmas Story" where Ralphie goes to the beginning of the visit Santa Claus line...and is told, "Young man. Hey, kid! Just where do you think you're going?.....The line ENDS here...it BEGINS over THERE!!"
(I guess her "filter" is gone too?)
I'm from NYC and the only people that are allowed to jump the line are seniors, disabled people, Pregnant women and sometimes people with toddlers. When it comes to WDW I don't mind the First three listed, But i have a toddler too so if i have to want with three year or on line so do you. b/c I'm a New Yorker i going to speak up if you jump the line . Maybe other people don't mind it But I do.
Haven't noticed too many line jumpers. I try to make sure that as many people can have seats on the bus as possible. Now, I have lupus and sometimes can't stand for the bus ride back to the resort, but I try to stand if someone with small kids is standing. Now, I also think it is courteous to not let one kid take up 2 or 3 seats while there are others standing. DH also stands if any one who needs a seat is standing.

True. If the kid is small enough to sit in a lap he/she should so another can sit.

My dd's - both in their 20's tell me that all the time. You should have heard them when I asked if there was a seniors discount on the I-Trolley. Cause I know in Florida often they consider you a senior at 50
When I was actaully carded in a Florida Liquor store (at first I thought the clerk was kidding) they really lost it.

I am one to usually point out the end of the line if I'm in a place to do so. The rest of my family hates it when I do that type of thing. I think it's about half and half whether the people are clueless or they are being deliberate.
Well in the South we tend to tell it like it is so I do say something to line jumpers.
I will sometimes end the phrase with "bless your heart" and my DH will just roll
his eyes. If your from down here you know what that means.
When we went to DL in December my DMIL had just had foot surgery. She was
using a cane and walking slower then normal. Well we got in line for Soarin and
walked the long que to the end of the line (like rule following people). As we got
to the end of the line a couple went under the chains and cut in front of us. They
were in their 20's and totally ignored me when I loudly said the end of the line
was behind the people way behind us. I had let it go and then the tween girl from
the family behind us tried to also go around us and call her parents up. Well they
gave her the stink eye and pulled her back. It really gets to me when people think
that just because your walking slow they can cut in front of you without asking.
We are all going to the same place and it still takes us the same about of time.
OMG sooo hate this, and especially if you are staying at POP they have the longest lines out of all the resorts (i'm reffering to leaving the parks going back to the resort)!
