SURPRISE boys; get your butts out of bed because we are going to Disney today, PTR!!!!!!! - Page 2 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Hello again, so where did I leave off oh yeah it's time to find out about the When, where and who?
So let’s get to the juicy stuff, the when, where and who details that I hope you have been waiting for.
When?
Well we will be arriving on December 11 and sadly leaving on the 18th. This will be our second time going in December; it is my all time favorite time of year to go. Everything is decorated so beautifully for the holidays, from the parks to the resorts; there is just so much to see. In fact this trip I plan to take some time just to resort hop.
Where?
The Poly baby, what can I say about the Poly except that I love it, love it, love it! We stayed there for the first time in 09 and was drawn in to its beauty, I decided that then and there we would try to stay there whenever we could and thanks to those elusive PINCODES we are lucky enough to stay there this year.
And finally the who?
There will be six people along for this surprise trip and so far all the children involved are in the dark about it and keeping fingers crossed that they will be until the day we leave. So let me introduce them to you all.
1. Me (41), the Disney freak, planner, organizer and detail checker. I love planning out every minute of our trips to the world, sometimes I plan for trips that will never happen, just for the sake of planning. I am a stay at home mom as well as a full time college student, currently pursuing my teaching degree. So you can see why finishing PP reports sometimes becomes impossible. This will be my 8th visit to my happy place.
2. Frank DH(44), not really a Disney fanatic like myself, he thinks I am crazy and go a little bit overboard when it comes to our Disney trips. That’s why I love the PassPorter boards because I know you all get me. Personally I think that he secretly likes it more than he is willing to admit because once he is there his attitude totally changes, it must be the magic of the bubble that does it. This will be his 7th trip.
3. Frank DS1(12), my first born, loves his electronic gadgets, doesn’t leave home without them. Luckily he has my love of Disney and hopefully he will never grow tired of it as he gets older. I feel bad because he just got braces and is really having a hard time adjusting to having them on, I am hoping that this doesn’t damper his spirit when it comes to eating while we are at Disney because I would really hate for him to be miserable the whole time. This will be his 5th trip.
4. Christopher DS2(7), my youngest and keeps me on my toes. He will be tall enough to ride most of the bigger rides this year, so I am hoping that I finally have a thrill ride partner. It’s amazing what a difference two years make, last time we went it all about Play House Disney now its Phinneas and Ferb. This will be his 4th trip.
5. Linda DM(61), I love my mom, she is one of my best friends and my travel buddy. She devotes her life to raising my two nephews and never does anything nice for herself, so I am planning on doing a lot of special things with her during our trip. I think she has been to the world 6 times.
6. Justin DNephew(11), he his very close with my DS1 they pretty much go and do everything together, hey cousins are important and I am glad that my boys are close to theirs. He likes to go on vacations although he doesn’t get the opportunity to do it that often, so I try to take him where ever we go some place and that makes him happy. This will be his 3rd trip.
Well there you have it, all our travelers for the surprise trip to the happiest place on earth. The picture below is of all of us from our last trip in 2009.

Coolest beans ever. Psyched to see this. We're going to get there the 11th too. We're not at Poly (ignore the sig) but maybe we'll run into there. Two Valeries from the tri-state area at WDW at the same time...could be dangerous.
Oh boy! I can't wait to follow along with your planning process and how you managed to keep it a secret this long! I could NEVER do that!!!!
Thanks, it hasn't been easy in fact I have slipped a few times, I know my younger DS has no idea but the older one may Know but hasn't said anything.

As with any planning there are going to be ups and downs and why should planning for Disney be any different. I would just like to side track from the PTR to tell you how awesome my TA and Disney are because if it weren’t for them this trip would have been canceled. Exactly one week before I was suppose to pay off our trip, I woke up to check our bank account to find that someone had gotten a hold of one of our debit card numbers overnight and made over 50 online purchases that wiped out the money in our account, which was our Disney fund. Well I am sure you can imagine how distraught I was, so after calling the bank and arguing with them on how they could let this happen, they started their investigation but told me that it could take 2 to 3 weeks before we would get our money back. As I sat there crying, knowing there was no possible way I could pay off our trip in a week, I thought we would have to cancel and was glad that my at least boys didn’t know so they would not be disappointed. I called our TA and explained what had happened and she said she would use her powers of persuasion and talk to her contacts at Disney. Well less than 24 hours later she calls me and said she explained to Disney what had happened and that they would make the note on the reservation and not cancel it. Let me tell you how happy this made me. knowing that Disney would give us an extension and we would not have to cancel our trip. Well to make a long story short, 3 weeks of phone calls and trips to the bank, they slowly started to credit our money back. Meanwhile, we had to cancel all direct deposits and shop around for a new bank, which is time consuming and wait for new debit cards in the mail, even before I could pay for anything. Well finally 2 ½ weeks after our due date we were finally paid in full!!!!! Needless to say I cannot tell you how much I am looking for to this vacation and once again my TA and Disney are awesome!!!!
